LOL when Meguiars guy......'were all going back to ROTARY right' Hd Pedro guy....WITH THIS PRODUCT EVERYBODY WILL GO BACK TO ROTARY' I about fell of my chair. To bad that part was edited out.
There are so many factors in place ,on other different types of paints u will get different results with machine , pad ,and polish HD 3d was very impressive though
I love how those that aren't proficient with a rotary will always say they can get the same results with a DA. I love the rotary and I also have a rupes 15. I'll use the rotary for scratches and the rupes for polishing and one step. But I can always achieve better results with rotary as long as time permits.
I don't want to be rude or disrespect anyone, but, most of those "detailers" there are merely pitchmen for products, and are not professional auto detailers. The winner of this challenge Francisco Mendoza from 3D is a bona fide pro. A professional auto detailer would have never entered a buffing challenge using a DA. A pro uses a rotary, period.
Actually guys I completely disagree. After many many runs with 3d aca 500 and 520 all on rotary if you hit it after with panel wipe by Gtechniq there are panel holograms 100% of the time under scan grip lighting
3D looks real good. Was this after the solvent wipe? Also, next time, take infra-red surface temp readings at each 1-min interval ... also would like to see Gloss Meter at various angles along with DOI readings from an A2LA lab tech
I have a lot of meguiars products professional line. and I ran across 3D before seeing this video, so I got Renew it polish, and HD speed. I tried the renew first on my black Navigator and was very impressed. it will dust up a little but just wipe down and and more, love beautiful glossy shine. the next day on the other side I used HD Speed , Wow!!! awesome. same shine in half the time the price is better than meguiars and I'll go out on a limb and say the product is also. but I will still use M105 and 205 on cars that needs pumped back up if you will, but when I get it to that point I'm going to blow them away with Renew, and HD speed if there money is right. if 3D can prove my better than my other products I'll use them in place of. I don't like having a bunch of this and that in my stable but when it comes down to the interior hey that's another story.
Rotary for the win! I never understood why some guys are so hooked on DA polishers, my guess is they all work on paint that in great shape to begin with. DA polishers are for removing light swirls, hazing and final finishing, not real defects or real paint correction. And yes 3D products are top notch.
A DA can remove serious defects just as good as the rotary only difference is it takes longer I’m professional detailer 20 years now so it’s not a surprise that the rotary won this it gets the job done faster also 3D has a really good compound that does a good job at removing defects
Times have changed. My first strike through occurred with my first run of the Porter Cable 7424xp in 2013. This was after using the rotary since 1998. Was not expecting that. Then with the pads and abrasives... Even more cut.
This challenge was not fair. Maybe if they bolth had the same tools it would be a challenge. But I've never herd of 3d before. Do you need a rotary to get those results for your product?
Metallic Paint on the Test Panel was a mistake Low definition video compounded that mistake Rules should have been outlined at the start of the video I never did see a shot of the 3D panel under a direct inspection light I never saw a final shot of the Shine Supply panel
Kyle Allen You never use 3D product then. I use them all and test them all. The best product on the market is 3D. The test was fair, all on the same panel. Metallic paint, why not. So, metallic paint should give different results with the same product line. No my friend. You are totally wrong. If you uses Meguiars M105 you should be able to use it on metallic paint. The only factor that could have modified the results is the rotary versus the DA. But at the same time Buffdaddy said that at the end of the day, there is no difference. I would have use the Flex 3401 so best combination of the 2 machines.
