In this video, you can see the results on the 18.5 m (60 foot) motoryacht Colinda, built by Yerseke Watersportservice. This is the first yacht on which a semi-custom Hull Vane® has been tested.
Results: 20% more efficient, 1.5 km/h faster, up to 6 dB(A) quieter on the aft deck and significantly less wave generation.

Can hull vane improve the performance of stabilizers? Or is there such a thing as an active hull vane? Can you rid the need of stabilizers?

Hi Cliff, the Hull Vane adds some roll damping, and therefore the roll stabilizers have to work a bit less hard, but in no way will the roll damping of the Hull Vane replace roll stabilizers. It does something which roll stabilizers don't do, which is reducing the pitching motions. Pitching is the main cause of vertical accelerations, which is what makes people seasick. For the passive Hull Vane, pitching is reduced by 10-20%. With an active Hull Vane (which we call Dynamic Hull Vane), this can be increased to 30-45%.
