One thing to point out is that First Class would be on a larger plane, which is much more stable in turbulence. I'd pick First Class. Also..glad I subscribed to Daily Drop. Its like getting a bonus K&N vlog every time! 😊
Go private! My husband is a pilot for NetJets - we get to fly on empty legs - best job perk ever! Just flew from Seattle to SFO on a Challenger 350 yesterday - only passenger, private terminals, no TSA, spoiled forever!
I've done private jets when I worked for a race team in NC. Nothing beats showing up 10 minutes before the flight and walking straight out to the plane. No security, No hassles. We'd leave at 3am in the morning and I'd usually be back by dinner on the same day depending on where we were testing. I'd pick it every time over commercial!
I'd go with the JSX guys always....and I love flying Alaska Airlines in "First Class"....ok Business class. Anyways, Nate cheated. There is no lounge for Alaska Airlines at DAL. Pulling out the Platninum AX is just wrong. LOL One of these days I'm going to run into what you guys did, JSX matches the "airlines", so why not fly private? Exactly! Kara wins!!
Whoever edits the Daily Drop videos is next level. The editing is phenomenal, the “apparently” jump cut had me ROLLING, and the fun little animations add a nice touch. Bravo to them!
The leg room and reclining space is much better, as is having nobody right next to you, but the actual width of the part of the seat where you are sitting (i.e. not including the wide area with the cup holder and storage area/arm rest) is only 17 inches; most domestic first class seats I've flown are at least 18" wide and some are as wide as 22".
Private jet for sure! I love a lounge, but I value my time more. I've been seeing ads lately for flying private jets, and I've considered giving it a try. Thank you so much for making this!!
I have flown private many, many times during my career. From 10 passenger twin turbo prop to an Airbus 319 with 42 first class seats. It is always the way to fly.
Ryanair €10 flights are the way to fly imho. I've flown private/business class, but Ryanair is just value for money. Low value, certainly, but almost for no money.
Should point out that the flights were to different airports. Nate flew Sea-Tac to Denver International, while Kara flew through secondary airports, Love Field to Broomfield CO. Crowds and traffic were going to be lighter for her either way.
According to JetFleets, the EMB-135s and 145s flown by JSX are an average of 22.7 years old. Not necessarily a knock--they look well-maintained, and airplanes are engineered to last. I would pick JSX if I was going point-to-point, big airline first class if I had to connect.
Coming from someone who has only flown first class once, I’d definitely go the semi-private route, hands down. My least favorite part of flying is the airport. I often say if I could wiggle my nose like Samantha and zap myself to my destination, that would be perfect, but only because of the airport, I really don’t mind the actual flights. And bonus points if you get my reference 😂
I'd pick semi-private. The lounge was the only real win for First Class from my perspective, and Nate got that through his credit card, not from his FC ticket.
I’d be blessed to take either or!! Love the time you guys put into these videos❤️ I want my life like this soon.. soon we’ll have our RV and explore our backyard like you guys did!!!
I flew JSX from Houston to Dallas and back. I enjoyed the experience. Not having to worry about getting to the airport an hour or two before your flight was nice. The solo seat was great and more leg room than you could need.
I have an issue with Nate getting a point for the lounge when he had to use the Amex to get in there. Of course if you are in first and at one of the nine airports in the US that has an Alaska Boardroom you will get lounge access, but Nate was not, so he could have been flying Spirit and still had the same lounge access.
I love JSX. We fly it when we want to bring our black lab along on a trip. The main negative is the limited number of airports they fly out of, but it's a great experience!
You should try Advanced Air some time; no security and no charge for pets, but also no food. For a short flight, I'd take semi-private over commercial.
As I am a huge AVGEEK I thank Kara for showing what type of plane she is on, the ERJ-135/145 is one of my favorites, and I do like the big airport experiance more, but I will need to try the semi-private experiance too. Great video you two.
Semi-private all the way! I’ve never done it but looks to eliminate all the stuff I hate about airports. Love flying, don’t love waiting around. Especially waiting for luggage at the end.
I would definitely fly semi-private. I only fly a couple times a year so I would have to pay for lounge access. The semi-private looks so much more comfy and took way less time. I have seen this company somewhere, probably an advertisement. I will definitely look into it, especially if the prices are close to Southwest prices. I'm like you Nate, I enjoy flying. I know people usually find it stressful. I think the key is to plan it out, be organized, and give yourself time to relax before your flight. Also, be friendly to everyone, if you're relaxed and on top of everything its easier to be kind, especially to the flight crew.
Private terminal rarely provide amenities beyond coffee and and light snacks because passengers are expected to arrive about 10 to 15 minutes before boarding. In fact most executive terminals will be designed with crew comfort and functionality in mind.
I love my Surfshark VPN! I am a nurse who lives and works in the Middle East. It helps keep my data safe and I can watch all my shows. And Kara I love your more colorful wardrobe!
I'm confused... Every time she shows the plane without anyone on it, it's a 1+1 configuration but when she's at her seat, she's shoulder to shoulder with someone.
My husband is celebrating 35 years with AA/American eagle, now envoy based out of DFW. He told me that jsx bought EMB145 jets that were built in 1997. That's why they look older and don't have USB ports
I'm not American and don't have the Koru Air New Zealand, the only domestic lounge pass. That said, if there was a Regional Private Jet in New Zealand between North and South Island or a business working like the Dead Head company Downie Live showed, and the flights cost the same as Koru annual + ticket ((500NZD + 200NZD), then I'd take the Private if I already paid for Lounge access I'd choose the airline every time.
The less hassle seems way better. And all the people you avoid seems way better. However the food and drinks could be a good thing. But then again you could just go eat but it would cost more so. Hummm this is a tough decision. Nope PRIVATE PLAN for sure. Screw the food!!!!!
Sooooo you tell us. I’m a novice BIG TIME! If your honest… what would be your choice?!? I’ve watched your videos for years. Please give this your most honest choice. TY ❤️
When you tubers knows more about JSX... 🤷♀️ Yall... This airline has been around for a bit... Come on. This was probably planned by your team, but, you're behind the times. There are other videos about this airline.
IF the prices were same/close I would definitely fly the semiprivate. No question. Walking into the terminal 20 minutes before your flight, crazy fast security with free food, drinks, snacks onboard beats the lounge experience. Seems like lounging is great if you have to spend hours in the airport in advance of your flight... I'd rather just get there hop on and GO. PLUS the added benefit of relaxed pet transport on the semiprivate is such an amazing perk!!.
OHHHHH we have JSX near us in Destin FL! I had no clue! And yes definitely semi private for LOTS of reasons! Only $438 to get to BNA! Thanks for the info!
OK, so I'm late to the party because I must have missed my notification about the video. I checked a couple of similar routes flown by both JSX and Alaska (which - full disclosure - is my go-to airline whenever possible) and JSX seemed cheaper than Alaska First Class (but more expensive than Alaska Premium Economy)...still, not a big difference and certainly a consideration if one wishes to avoid the hassles of navigating a large airport. Sadly, JSX doesn't have any service up here in the upper left-hand corner of the map - although some other semi-private business class companies might - so I will just have to dream of the possibilities...
Semi-private is A LOT less hassle, so slight preference there. BUT - as you were flying into Denver - the tram ride is one of the highlights for regular commercial flights. One time when my wife and I went through Denver, and the tram stopped for (a brief) second or too, I said - I thought only loud enough for my wife to hear - "Ladies and Gentlemen, we will have a brief pause while we wait for some deer to clear from the tracks" -which got a pretty big laugh from my wife - more so than such a lame joke deserved. She told me after we got off the tram that the people behind me heard what I said, thought it was an actual announcement (I can go into announcer voice if need be) and said "Oh my, there's a deer on the track?" - oblivious to the fact that the tram is a closed system SEVERAL STORIES UNDERGROUND. If the deer got onto the track there, we have bigger problems. Thanks for sharing this - might have to try semi-private soon. Safe travels as always
The video is deceiving. You show the cabin from the JSX Promo Videos with a one/one configuration, when in reality Kara was traveling next to another person in the standard ERJ 135 configuratoion 2/1.
I’ve been wanting to fly JSX but they don’t fly to Utah. I guess they did seasonal flights to SLC in 2021. Maybe they didn’t get the traffic they hoped for?
Trying to figure out how such expert travelers 1) don't know an American holiday weekend would be a busy travel time, and 2) never heard of JSX. I also don't understand how a channel that is, essentially, an advertising channel for your business ALSO has outside ads in it.
I think JSX is overrated. The planes are old. Cabin has a dated appearance. Seats are fine but are smaller than domestic first. No IFE. Food options are limited. Cabins feel weirdly awkward. Terminals are very lacking. Only real advantage is time. But I always get to the airport as my flight is boarding anyways, so it’s not that much of a time saver. I choose Delta over JSX or any other US airline any day.
Well, I have flown, pure private and it ruins flying forever! The only exception are really long flights when like me you are tall and the jet inside. So when I go from BNA to African I stick with first/Bus class
The private jet was very underwhelming in my opinion I would just fly Alaska airlines lol which by the way is my favorite airlines maybe I’m biased 😂😂😂
Just to be helpful, and to give unsolicited advice,......please stop wearing your cap backward. It makes it look like you are hiding a receding hairline. But we can see the hair , so why?
Having flown private and commercial enough times, I can say with authority that the point of a private plane isn’t luxury or amenities, it’s choice. Choice if exactly when you leave and being able to arrive at the airport whenever you want to. Even the most decked out private jets don’t compare with the luxuries you get on an international First Class flight. You’re not immune to delays or mechanicals with private, if anything they can be more inconvenient since you won’t have a second jet you can just transfer onto. If your crew times out, you’re waiting till the next day for sure. For destination pairs which are well served by commercial airlines with regular flights multiple times daily, you’re almost always better off flying commercial. If I ever had the choice of owning my own jet (I always flew someone else’s) or buying functionally infinite first class commercial tickets, I’d go for commercial every time. You cannot beat the backing of that logistics chain for when things go wrong.
I fly JSX all the time and love that I can get there 20 minutes before my flight and just hop on. No security lines or baggage lines. Most efficient way to travel for work!
I assume I would like the private flight better than the commercial. Not so much walking that’s so many hassles with a private flight. And as for the lounge that you’re in you have to have an American Express card for that so if you don’t have American Express, you’re stuck in the, regular ones with no food anyway so that’s not part of the flight
Hey Nate, just wondering what the selfie stick thing in the airport was? What did that guy say? You said I know I know like you knew you weren’t supposed to be doing something.
If prices were near identical, I would choose semi private just because it seems like you get to avoid the usual annoying things about flying. The no security, being able to arrive 20min before your flight is a huge plus.
People realy need to stop calling JSX "semi private". Its not. You buy a specific seat and share the plane with 40 other people. Its a commuter jet only airline with a good marketing team that tricks idiots into paying a premium for a smaller than usual sardine can
Jet for sure. I don’t like large groups of people. Makes me nervous. Especially with all the airplane freak out videos recently. What’s happening on flights these days?!
I have checked out flying on jxs but they do not operate out of Atlanta. Hopefully one day they will there probably is a semi-private company out of Atlanta area but I am unaware of it.
This video is misleading. The empty semi-private looks like two rows of seats, but it's actually three rows with one row folded down. Kara had a passenger seated next to her. Also, the seats on the semi-private are narrower than first class, she had the bulkhead in front of her, and the floor space was obstructed on the window side. The semi-private has a 50 lb. limit on luggage, whereas in first class seat it's typically 70 lbs. Additionally, no seat selection in the semi-private at that price point. First class is the easy winner based on comfort and price unless time is an issue and you need to arrive at the airport as close as possible to departure.
Great vlog as always! When ever you upgrade from a Greyhound to train, to plane, to VIP plane you do not want to go back down! Kara is my hero here. You go girl! Keep up the good work! Be safe!
Flying private is to save time. Because time is money. So wasting an hour at the terminal is counterproductive. But if you're going on holiday and want lounge time then first class could be better.
I'd pick first class. bigger and much more stable plane and more amenities at the airport. Now if this was a full private jet on a bigger aircraft, that would have been a different scenario
JSX has pretty limited routes, but if one of these was convenient I'd certainly try it. I did notice that each leg is priced individually, so if you have a connection the time/price would almost certainly be higher than a non-stop commercial flight. And of course, the Centurion clubs get pretty crowded, so no guarantee you'll get in during certain times.
