These drivers are the ones who usually bottom out on the grade crossings. Then the train hits and destroys the trailer and the freight. Truckers used to be the best drivers on the road. Today - not always the case unfortunately. Thankfully, no damage done and especially great that no one was hurt.
@wes5150.

I retired after 37 years as a freight conductor and in that entire time there were NO trucks EVER 'Stuck' on the tracks. Maybe drivers failing to raise the trailer jack entirely ? Oh, I know. They build trailers lower now days- lol !

@@wes5150. Just take a look around on RU-vid. You can see plenty of these in the U.S. The rise in the grade is overlooked and they bottom out. Failure of the driver to use a Truck GPS as that would warn him/her of the danger of some grades.

Actually both the company and driver are getting hit. The driver is getting violation ticket ranging from distracted driving, illegal routes if it is. And what other fines. The company will receive bills for the other the loss. Its up to the company if they are going to go after the driver for the bill the company gets. If the driver had a good driving record very low chance he losses his license. But heavy fines. Company very high chance he gets fired and civil action against him for the bill.
@mchebornek
@mchebornek 3 года назад
If you have any event at level grade crossing, your commercial operator's license is revoked for life. I'm sure this I was turning left and slid on rails to bottom out counts. I'm sure insurance would pay on this, maybe not fully but a lot of it.
@certeric33
@certeric33 3 года назад
@@mchebornek That is a high chance depends on the state. I know a driver who ended up getting his landing gear jammed up on the tracks and was stuck for about an hour. He got heavy fines and not sure about about money for the rails being down. But he had a crystal clear record and was on a proper truck route. Juat bad luck his landing gear lost a bolt that hold the legs up once lifted. He never had his license revoked or suspended.

35yrs working at a Gov't Warehouse, at a SERVICE CENTER, we would have at least 2 to 4 times a year, some driver got his trailer jacks, under the front HUNG UP at the top of the ramp going in OR out of the loading dock ramp, and it would lift the truck drive wheels, off the ground, and we had to put 2×6's under the tires, until the jacks could be adjusted. Luckily, no damages, or drivers fired, but they DID learn the lesson, how to get out of the situation!

@@anthonygonzalez7488 It’s king pin restriction, incorrectly called bridge law by some truckers. Bridge law is federal that states how much weight can be placed on axle groups or a vehicle based upon number of axles and wheelbase. King pin is state law that determines distance from the center of the king pin to center of the trailer axle as measured by that state. They’re not the same.

@@anthonygonzalez7488 probably #1 - drop the gear, disconnect the trailer, and it’s hard to believe that tractor couldn’t drive out from under - come back on the road and haul the trailer out the other direction

I wonder how much a tow like that cost. I see a lot of videos were tow trucks get things moved but never had any information on how they change the customer.

No one wants to wait. Must be used to long trains. 🚂. About looking into the car carriers, There was a load of Pintos rolled through Pembroke, KY. The train had to stop for some reason. The carriers weren't like these. I climbed up on one to see the sticker price on a blue Pinto. $2,000.
@WideWorldofTrains

That would be about right for a 79 Pinto!

Nice show but I think a 60 ton wrecker is a bit of overkill . That truck did not appear very stuck , with a few blocks of wood , it may have been to back itself off the rails .

I know truckers can lose their licenses from getting involved in a wreck, but what about getting stuck on the tracks?

No one, truck driver or automobile driver automatically loses their license if involved in a wreck

Usually police don’t actually ticket for something like this. The towing bills or loss of job usually serve as a disciplinary action that’s suitable.

COOL! Evans Mechanical! I know some of those fellas. Good people for sure. You might be right on Tesla but I was under the impression only UP could carry them. The last Tesla train I got didn't have DPU though. UP lead power too. Sweet video none the less.
