Most politicians in the US government are American. Being a politician is just a line of work just like any other. The main difference is that collective decisions of Congress effect the national population, whereas day-to-day decisions made in private-sector jobs don't usually do that.

Never knew who he was until now because I live in another country. All I can say is I'm glad to see someone a lot younger, and fully awake while being rational in his opinions. It's very good to see this kind of change, even though it should be the norm we all know it just isn't in the times we live in. I hope this can start an upwards spiral from now on.
I'm a Democrat and a person who looks at the character and morals more than a party line and like him, quite a lot. I will recommend his life story in the Neflix movie: Hillbilly Elegy. It tells his roots and the life events that shape his character. He is a fresh mind, and we probably need more like him.
This young man has a first hand knowledge of what it means to work hard to make a better life for himself. I sincerely hope that he can bring this knowledge and drive back to America. I can relate to this guy's story. I was married in Middletown, where we stayed in a tenement, then rented a trailer in Springfield. We ate a lot of meals at local soup kitchens there. Literally a week before the epidemic of kung-flu totalitarianism, we moved into a box truck and lived in parking lots around Dayton. We were homeless for a few years, eventually wandering to South Dakota and living in an old RV with no plumbing. We are now fixing up a nearly-condemned trailer, paid in full in cash, and I'm employed full time as a teacher. Now I'm free to live a simple hillbilly life and foster/adopt insofar as the Lord permits. I'm thankful for the optimism brought about by recent events. The Biden years are soon to be a bittersweet memory.

The constitution establishes the US as democratic republic, which is a representative democracy. Yes we are not a direct democracy as a nation, but there are various forms of democracy. In the state/local levels, there are many direct democracies.

Our "sacred democracy" is not a democracy at all it's a REPUBLIC, as per the US Constitution. The comment about a homeland made me think about a passage in Hebrews 11 that also talks about a homeland, a heavenly one whose builder and maker is God. This is a useful reference because it is a rightful, human experience to be connected, body, soul, and spirit to home. To be willing to die for it is the natural outcome of people who have lived off its produce, and enjoyed its beauty, and shared a common language and values. God takes that experience and reminds us that the earthly homeland is merely a shadow of the perfect heavenly one. Thank you for reminding us of what God can do for us even in the imperfections of this government and these people. He is ready to help us live and love well in this place where he has put us. God bless the USA.
