Only listen to the experts when it comes to border security. Those who actually work at the border are urging the quick passage of the border security bill. The National Border Patrol Council, the official union of the U.S. BorderPatrol, endorsed the bipartisan border security bill. In a statement released by Brandon Judd, President of the National BorderPatrol Council, the union called the bill a "step in the right direction and noted that while the bill is "not perfect," it is "far better than the status quo." Fun fact: Since Trump and House Republicans rejected the border security bill, any problems on the border belongs to them now.

Lankford is now trying to have the best of both worlds. Authoring the bill AND voting for it proved to be too much for his constituents who are interested in having the border remain a problem. Should the bill go through, it will still be his bill while he throws his constituents a bone by not voting for it. I hope the bill passes in the Senate.
