Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) discusses how USAID prioritizes funds with USAID Administrator Samantha Power during a Senate Foreign Relations Hearing titled "FY2025 United States Agency for International Development Budget Request."
I think Romney gets this one a bit wrong. Sure there is room for having US investment for their interest, but isn't it worth having some that's trying to help people the most? Plus I think the US interest is harder to evaluate than people helped.
It's truly unfortunate that a patriot (the real kind) finds himself without a home in today's Republican party. If the party doesn't return to pragmatism, responsibility and common sense, it will decline to the point of irrelevance, maybe not in this election cycle, but very soon afterwards.
