I would like to take this opportunity to humbly admit I was wrong. Years ago, I stood up to call for the abolition of the Senate. The way Senators are named was, and still is, contrary to the values, structure, and raison d'etre of a democracy. All that being said, today, most Senators truly honoured their oath and mission to provide "sober second thought" to government. I am, today, relieved no one listened to me when I called for the abolition. Unfortunately, this is a government that doesn't like or respect anyone who stands in the way of their tyranny, but many of these Senators put the country first, and they are fully deserving of the credit for the revocation of the illegally-imposed Emergencies Act. Let there be no doubt - Trudeau defended this as absolutely necessary less than 24 hours ago. To suddenly say it is not necessary is an attempt to save political face knowing that Senate was going to reject it. And anyone who believes Trudeau needs to give their heads a shake. Thank you, honourable Senators. You have, at least for the time being, stopped the dictator.
dont blame you . its hard to trust in our government these days . they look so detached frome our reality . this senate debate gaves me hope , the sincerity of their words and thoughts makes the other chamber look like teenagers school debate .
@@terrrorizer1563 It shows you how the political culture has degraded into egotistical incompetence. Most of our politicians care only about their wealth and power these days, not Canada! Although, I strongly believe its at least somewhat due to the infected minds of far left thinking.
Thank you for sharing your change in your view about the senate. It takes a humble and intelligent person to do so. It is very reassuring to know that we have the Senate to provide "sober second thought". Unlike our government, the Senate put the country first before self-interests.
Smart, rational, Canadian Women (how I love ‘em!) saved the day, in Mme.Wallin and Mme.Batter’s speeches this afternoon. The writing was definitely on the wall and it was curtains for the EA just hours later, doubtless in part due to these very convincing appeals to a Senate teetering on a close result. THIS is something to make us proud. Bravo! Thank you!
Wow, AMAZING speech! Maybe this was the speech that got Trudeau to revoke the Emergency Act! So much respect to you Pamela and thank you for that moving speech and your vote of NO!
A run at the banks of people withdrawing their money. A loss of confidence from foriegn investors taking their money elswhere is the main underlying issue. Trudeau got his genitalia slapped.
I'm proud of one of my province's senators. Thank you Senator Wallin for delivering a common sense approach to the EMA and for not spreading ideologically driven lies about the truckers. Truthful speech is very much lacking in Canada today, especially in regards to politics. I hope more politicians will follow your example.
@@kittypurr71 Well Sheila she was exonerated from the media smear campaign but you are still slinging mud. But your partisan support blinds you from reality.
Thank you Senator Wallin! Your knowledge and words are spot on! So happy and proud you represent my province of Saskatchewan!!! Thanks for standing up for all Canadians🇨🇦!!
Speeches from Senators Pamela Wallin, Denise Batters and Donald Neil Plett gave me much needed hope. Their wise insights highlighted Trudeau's incompetence and inexperience in the area of politics. His leadership is not only harmful and reckless but it is childish.
All the senators’ speeches I have heard, including this one, have been admirable. I believe that the imminent Senate vote against the EMA was the motivation for Trudeau to revoke it in order to save face. Well-done Senate!
Justin Castro-Trudeau must face trial along with each and every goof tyrant politician who voted yes for the emergency act to be acted upon. These people committed crimes and they absolutely must be held accountable!!!
Thank you senator, for that that speech, which can only serve us all. However I wish someone would start to address, what we believe is a major factor in bringing these people to Ottawa.... that being our current state of media / censorship. For almost every story on main stream media, there was independent reporting showing the opposite. We witnessed this ourselves, how can we have a democracy, when sitting government controls the media? I ask you consider this question moving forward, and again, thank you for your service.
👏👏👏👏 that is the best statement I have ever heard. Well said 👏. I think you should be in charge of Canada. You are amazing!!! I'm from England 🇬🇧 and l hope you Canadians win your right to have a free democracy again
Thank you Pamela Wallin !! Canada needs help from more people like you. These toxic politicians have brought Canada to a place I no longer even recognize. Canadians are struggling and losing hope to carry on. We need real leaders and honest people to listen . They only asked to be heard and were verbally attacked by these shameless people. This cannot continue.
Thank you. But I’m trying to weigh your comments against your fraud submissions for expenses 7-8 yrs ago. I also enjoyed you and Patrick Duffy for your reporting as journalist. Then both of you lied and defrauded the Canadian people. I still don’t understand, why, I thought you had independence, integrity and honesty. I firmly believe the emergencies act was just wrong! Trudeau took it personally and acted as a tyrant. Reminiscent of “get those Indians out of the park” great power great responsibility. So far, all I see is failure of the Canadian government
Bless you Pamela Wallin! Thank you for showing integrity to speak up against this extreme move Trudeau has made and tried to justify. So proud that you Senators for voting against this Emergency Act. ✌❤🇨🇦🙏
If there is no prosecuting and Justice for what has been done. Then there is no Justice for anyone. System fails again and people are so sick of it. it is unbelievably sickening
there’s some hope. if anyone is smart, no one will agree with castro. vote against everything he wants, and those MP MIGHT have a chance keeping their seat even after all the damage they do. but if they keep licking castros , then they’re all done. ndp and lobs are 10000% done.
Thank you. You were very well spoken. Unfortunately I don't have faith in our government or systems anymore. I used to love politics and was so proud to be Canadian. But can no longer stomach what has and is happening to our country. It doesn't matter what side of the trucker convoy someone's beliefs fall, freedom is for every side. When we start picking and choosing who can speak and when or where we no longer have freedom or democracy. I am ashamed to be Canadian. Unfortunately I don't have faith the in Government or even Judges(when this all ultimately ends in courts) to be non partisan or no bias in the decisions.
I can understand your feelings. It is difficult to have faith in our systems when we have a corrupt leader. Do not be ashamed to be Canadian. Do not carry shame that belongs to the politicians who are failing to lead and represent us. As I struggled with my own faith in our government and institutions, I realize I have two options. I can sit in apathy and not take any action or I can fulfill my purpose at this time to be engaged, informed and active in the process of protecting my rights, freedoms and the democracy of this country. We all have a role in making our lives and the lives of others better. We have more power than we know.
Thank you Senator Wallin . Thank you for standing up for democracy ! It restores our faith in politicians who speak up for Canadians. I applaud your courage for speaking out. The Charter of rights and freedoms will stand strong with politicians like you!! 🙏🇨🇦
Thank you for providing reasoning at a time of abuse of powers. The Emergency Act should only be used at a time of extreme threat to Canadians peace, order and good governance. And what we lacked was good government.
I suggest all of you to deny comments. I am very proud to see our senate come to the table. You all have a very infallible view on our constitution and how you will stand for the people. I am a very proud Canadian and this whole thing has really shown disgrace of our leading Caucus. Thank you so much 🙏
Love how so many politicians were tongue tied, at best, for the past two years whilst Canadians' Charter and Human Rights were being trampled upon. Hmm...
Wow!! That was the whole case beautifully expressed and clear enough for dimwits to understand. The speech should be reprinted in newspapers across the country. The one in my area spouts the party line and people voice their fears like well trained seals.
I agree with your comment about a colossal failure on the part of leadership. However, instead of mentioning barricades, imposing existing laws, lack of preparedness, etc. you overlook one of the most important flaws on the part of our leader. He didn't even bother to speak to them himself or send anyone out to hear their grievances. I've heard the counter argument that he shouldn't have to do that as prime minister. That same opinion didn't seem to apply when it came to going out and taking a knee with BLM after all that violence and attacks on police, remembering that there was no such violence in the Freedom Convoy. When Catholic churches were burned he said, "...he understands the anger..." and that turned out to be tree roots, not children buried. When a screaming, ranting teenager came to Canada to vent about the environment he spent time with her, a kid, but couldn't bring himself to ask a few of the leaders to come in and speak to him or a member of his cabinet? These are his own taxpaying citizens who worked through the pandemic before the vaccinations mandates and they had more of a right to be heard than a foreign teenager. I stopped listening part way because I felt the wagging finger directed not only at him, but at taxpayers. If your tone changed at some point and you felt some empathy then I apologise.
If I could like your comment a hundred times over I would. And every yes vote for the Emergency Act should be fired and no pension. They would think twice before doing it again.
I think Senator Wallin covered the fact that Trudeau did not talk to the Truckers with her references to communication. It's not the job of a Senator to fly in the face of the PM unless it's to vote Non-Confidence, which I certainly hope we will do very soon. I sent Non-Confidence vote request emails to all MP's and the Senate and a horrifying number of them bounced and were returned "undelivered" = Something's compromised with the communication system to parliament and must be rectified immediately.
@@twilatharp3386 I agree that Senator Wallin addressed the fact that Trudeau did not speak to the protesters. I sent an email to my MP prior to the vote and did not receive it back "undelivered". But it concerns me to hear that you did get your emails bounced back. This is either a technical glitch or a another breakdown in our democracy. Will you follow up on this matter? I am going to follow up on my end.
I haven't been a fan of Senator Wallin but I must admit that this speech is extraordinary. It is powerful. Well organized. Well delivered. I believe this has the potential to become a valued part of our Canadian history.
thank you so much I have protested the mandates and especially the emergency act since first invoked in saskatchewan last year,at that time,I seen the federal government going the same way down the road. And that concerned me more than anything ever had. My local mla would tell you he is quite tired of my visits,my emails,my questions, and my real dire concern with an emergency act.We need to keep speaking up just like her.Serious wrongs have been done, lines crossed ,and people want answers, all the truth on the table, about everything, and I do believe justice.I feel people won't settle for anything less, nor should they.
I totally agree with what she said, but WHERE was she, when CPC's Candice Bergin and other Conservatives were telling the Truckers to "Go home!!!", when they were PROTESTING PEACEFULLY and had EVERY RIGHT to be there????!!!!
Pamela your pure class and from a Saskatchewan man to a hometown woman and senator…Bravo and God Bless You and all Canadian brothers and sisters in the greatest country on Earth…Freedom is Truth … Amen 🙏
Pamela, my hope is that you appear at the next press gallery dinner and repeat that speech in full to all those who have brought deep shame to the profession you once practiced.
Start pulling your cash from the banks and see how fast Trudeau will be gone. If everyone who even donated to the convoy takes that amount out of the bank every day or week the banks will collaps and get ride of Trudeau
Why the whole thing is against protesters and their presence on Parliament Hill , as if that alone was illegal? We have the right to protest against abusive Government !!!! This protest was peaceful, there was no violence, destruction nor harassment. Police reports are a living proof of that. The question should be , why Trudeau did not meet with protesters and why refused to even talk to them? This alone was the reason for Truckers to stay in front of Parliament for so long. Had he met them, talked to them and dumped illegal mandates the whole thing could have been resolved in the matter of couple of hours. That is all, done and everybody goes home. Why it was not done this way? Well, do you think Trudeau was sitting in his hiding place doing nothing? No., he was getting all sorts of instructions from his string pullers and for sure was thinking how to get back on those who stood up to him. Emergency act was the tool he needed and NDP "geniuses" supported him. They all should pay for all the damages done to towed away trucks that had been vandalized by police and towing company !!!!!
You are an absolutely professional person in our government wow you are our heroe please ask mister trudeau and freeland to step down they were completely out of control, they went rogue without the parliament complete approval of the house this is way over reach Sad Thank you
