i think that is incorrect. the SCOTUS are the highest law in the land and therefore do have some form of being above the law. They are the ones that pass the laws regarding how their 'gifts' are legal.

Always been this way. It has been a non issue because the rulings are not violating our rights. They been after Thomas ever since he was nominated. He made it clear he will die before ever walking away from the position. His goal from day one was to make liberals miserable and he is accomplishing that. In the 80s this is exactly what we wanted but your neocons and democrats have hated him from day one. So now they are trying to find anything to get rid of him. It wont happen unless you get a majority vote in the house to impeach and that will never happen.

Here's the thing. It is common that, basic citizens of the country no matter what company they work for, are told that Quid Pro Quo practices are immoral, and against company policy. Now unless you have government contracts, or deal with clients, "GIFTS" are a common thing that the company will use to close a sale, celebrate a sale, or to persuade a customer/client. The exact thing they tell you not to do at your level, is done at all levels well above you. Remember that next time you are told to "Share the wealth."

I can honestly say that I've never heard any politician or mainstream media organization say anything publicly of a racist nature against CT. He's been respected as a Supreme Court Justice. It's clear he's not been as upstanding as we believed him to be. He's made things more difficult for himself by not coming clean, lying, and not recusing himself when he should have. And yet still he hasn't been publicly accused of his misdeeds because "You know black people do this kind of thing". Thomas made his own choices, and we have to wait to find out if there will be any consequences...✌️

The obvious judicial response to the suggested level of lawfare would be to hold the DOJ and Senators in criminal contempt. If congress wants to do their job as a legislative branch, they have the appropriate authority. If they want to cross over into semi-judicial or executive action, it may not go well for them.
