Basically it's like teamviewer technique, when the connection is made they step out and it is a 1 to 1 connection, therefor the limitation is your own ISP network connection speed. Same can be done running an ftp server locally but that is a lot of hassle to install, configure server and client software and open ports in your router. Smart thing.

This is an amazing software as demonstrated. I have downloaded it - I hope that it stays free - I have had to send files to people and they had to sign up etc. Can't wait to get this kind of back and forth with people to send files. What a find. Also just want to say thank you to Steve and Mark - I don't think I have had interaction with Steve on facebook, but certainly have with Mark. But I have been watching you guys, for at least a decade ( or feels like a decade ). Always great content. I have many times referred people to rippletraining and will continue to do so. I think it's really clever, thank you guys. It would be nice to be able to do this without somebody being at the other end. The user case I'm thinking about is that when I'm travelling, it would be great to have a copy from my Travel laptop and put it onto my desktop with all its crazy multi backups to safeguard it.

Thank you ; but you didn't answer a couple of questions. Do you have to accept on the send from the other end before the file is uploaded from sending computer or can it happen if the receiving party is not present live? Does Blip have its own server they store files or is only a live transfer as you showed?
Wow, that's nuts! Yeah, curious what the business model is going to be... Any limitations on file size, usage (like so many GBs/day or TB/month)? Does it support Windows?
If a large file transfer is interrupted, does BLIP continu the transfer afterwards? (transferring 100gb or more) I use Resilio Sync for years now, very reliable, direct connection, no server.
It does need to be made aware to all Mac users that you must have OS-12 or later. Im running a 2019 5K iMac with OS 10.15.7. Hey guys off the cuff, do you know if my machine supports that OS?? I'm not one to update just cause, especially with projects in the bin...but I would love to say bye bye to Dropbox!! And what are the requirements of Windows??
After I installed this app my Google Drive Desktop stopped syncing properly. Not sure if this is the problem but I can't think of anything else. Beware.
Interesting program, but I found once I installed it, if I am in Microsoft Word and do a Command-B to bold some text it triggers Blip and freezes Word. Not sure what's going on there and if that happens with other programs, but I got Blip off my computer as fast as I could.
One of the people behind Blip here. We pushed a fix for this in the 1.0.5 update. Now the default shortcut for Blip is shift+command+B, which should not conflict with text editing.

Interesting. So you are creating using some streaming protocol from point to point but to do that either you have tunneling bteween the points (inside LAN especially) or there is something in the middle outside the sender and recipient that the stream is maintained by. Since you say encrypted in transit and don't say which kind in your FAQ on stie I presume it is going over either HTTPS, ssh, or something like wireguard tunnels. I haven't looked into it deeply but I presume some of the recent versions of HTTP can do this sort of thing well enough over maybe websockets? Very curious what the tech is as it can doubtless be useful for a lot of other things. HTTPS isn't all that secure as CA stuff is profoundly vulnerable to MITM fake or comprised certificates. Of course one can encrypt first and ensure intented recipient has means to decrypt. I am worried about the short time segments of file are in your own machinery and whether they are secure there. Trust but verify. Also want to know how metadata obviously present for routing and from other things is handled in more detail. So there is an upload which is to the recipient machine directly. Oh, no support for Linux. Forget it.
Is there going to be Text-based editing in 10.7? That is all I really care about and is causing me to consider leaving FCPX altogether. The transcription, captioning capabilities of the other guys are too compelling.

All our connections are secured with TLS 1.3 protocol, which encrypts data in-transit. This is similar to services like Dropbox, WeTransfer, and MASV.
