Main Man they didn’t get lost on the trial coming from boquete. They got to the top, but instead went down the wrong side away from boquete towards bocas. That’s the risky unmarked side. Now there is a sign at top says end of trial do not proceed.
@@deepcoolclear I don't think they knew they were going down the "wrong" side. The El Pianista trail doesn't abruptly end at the top: it continues on down the other side. Why is it so intuitive that once you reach the summit you're supposed to do a pirouette and return the way you came? Everybody on YT takes it for granted that the girls were obviously doing something foolish, but that's ridiculous--they simply continued to follow the trail. Unless somebody specifically told you to turn around at the top, you wouldn't know to do so.
@@profd65 They didn't know that the trail ends there. But the path after the Mirador is not really dangerous. You can't lost. No branchings, just one path. But they left the path because a third party chased them. For days in the forest without food and sleep they had an accident and died. They fell down from a high place. First Kris and later Lisanne. I know this case very well.

They got lost on the opposite side going down towards bocas del toro. They should have returned towards boquete but for whatever reason they went down the dangerous side. At that time it was unmarked. Now at the top there is a sign that says end of trial, turn around. Very sad story.
I agree with what you said. I've read countless articles on this and looked for maps and directions the girls went in. I managed to find a video where Kris' parents even walked the same path. It's under "Lisanne Froon disappearance route" on RU-vid.i also managed to find Lisanne' s brother, Martin who got to the top of the mountain. The video is in Dutch but you can See in the video in some places it's very misty and foggy and it clears up later on. Being part if a rain forest/jungle. Could it be it was foggy in some areas of that day and the girls went down the wrong side? It's such a tragedy but there's also something at the back of my mind pointing in the direction of foul play. So many unanswered questions. I hope the girls souls rest in peace are in a better place. I can't even imagine how hard it was for them to realise how unforgiving the jungle is.
I've studied this case a great deal, and I think it's very possible that Kris and Lisanne didn't know that once you reach the summit you're supposed to turn around and go down the way you came up. The El Pianista trail does not end at the summit, it continues on down the other side and after several days travel reaches an Indian town. Unless Kris and Lisanne had been specifically advised to turn around at the top by a Boquete local or by a website, it would not have been obvious that that's what they were supposed to do. They had no guide. There's not a great deal of information on El Pianista online, and there was probably less four years ago. Also, there was a language barrier at play--the ladies spoke Dutch while most of the stuff written or spoken about El Pianista would have been in Spanish or English. I believe they thought you're supposed to follow the trail down the other side of the mountain, and they probably also (reasoning by analogy) thought that it would take about as long to get down that side as it took them to get up the other side--about three hours. And it was about three hours after beginning their descent that they made their first distress calls. In fact, once it got late in the afternoon and they realized it would be dark soon, in their minds they had reached a point of no return: they knew they didn't have enough daylight to turn around, reach the summit again and go down the way they came up, and so they probably accelerated their pace downhill, hoping to reach the valley before dark, and sadly this made matters much worse. It's difficult to say, but they might not have even been truly lost when they made their first 9-11 calls; they may have gotten lost only later in the evening by travelling desperately in low light and darkness in an attempt to avoid spending the night in the jungle, perhaps leaving the trail and taking "shortcuts."
@@ScotmanUK2000 The thing is the girls may not have known that they were descending the "wrong" side. Everybody on RU-vid seems to thinks it obvious that once you summit you should turn around and go back the way you came. Why?? What's so obvious about it? These RU-vidrs don't realize that the El Pianista trail does not abruptly end at the summit, it continues on down the other side. The pictures of Kris on the "wrong" side--she's still on the El Pianista trail. Unless somebody specifically told you to turn around at the summit and return the way you came, it would not be obvious that that's what you're supposed to do.

I have watched similar on YT about this tragic case of these 2 beautiful young girls. Nothing feels right, nothing adds up. Why would they have walked so far off the trail? without proper supplies, knowledge or clothing. Why were only a handful of the cameras photos released to the press? Why the deleted image 509? Why no larger remains found? no skulls? no other clothing? How was the backpack that was handed in by villagers in such good condition and dry after 72 days in the jungle? How were the phones as such..and the camera? Why did the girls remove their bras and place them in the backpack? Why only a single water bottle? In my mind I have no doubt they met with terrifying and brutal deaths at the hands of some cruel local or a group of locals and were lured or forced off the trail then who knows what those poor girls went through before they died. The blue backpack was planted there along with other evidence to throw off the investigation. The whole case stinks of a typical South American corrupt country covering its own ass. I hope they rest in peace and I hope the 2 families find inner peace one day too!
The photos that were released clearly shows that they went beyond the pianista trail. The last photo of Kris standing on a rock looking back at camera is around a 70min walk from el mirador which is where the pianista trail ends. So they definitely entered beyond where they should have. About 2 hours beyond there are several trails and it can get very confusing. The girls become lost tried to call for help but there was no signal. With only an hour of daylight left they decide the best way to get out is to just head down hill, as the start point of the trail is cleared farm land they probably believed if the just kept heading down they would get out. After a day or two of walking through the night as the first night they would be way to scared to stop. They would have continued walking with phone light guiding them and eventually came across the monkey bridge at rio culebra. All items and bones recovered were from this bridge downward about 4 kilometres. I believe they decided to stay here and wait for rescue. They probably washed themselves in the water an slept on the massive boulders that lined the river bank. As the river creates a clearing in the forest any aerial search would most likely see them ( in their minds). As the days go by they become weaker and weaker, no food for days, constant fear and poor sleep. The night photos show papers and a branch with red plastic attached most likely to signal helicopter which was searching the area on the 7th of April. I believe on the 5/6th of April Kris either slipped hitting her head or became critically ill. They would have removed their bras because wearing a bra for 7 days straight would become very uncomfortable and as they would have lost some weight bras would not have fit properly anyway. We don’t know that they only had one bottle of water, one bottle was all that was found in the bag however they may have had another one they were using to collect water from river which was washed away. I would say that with Kris in a very bad way on the 7th when Lisanne heard the helicopter further up on the pianista trail side she probably used the last of her energy to frantically wave the stick with the red plastic in the hope they would spot her and in doing so slipped and broke her foot ( autopsy revealed foot was broken before she died ). As night fell although in agony she had no more energy and fell asleep next to Kris in the rock. As the first heavy rains began to fall in the first hours of the 8th the odd drop of water falling from the leaves above woke her up. Still fresh in her mind that rescuers were looking near them using helicopters she grabbed her camera sitting up and began taking photos after a couple of photos Lisanne was so weak she couldn’t even hold her arm up and accidentally took a photo of the back of Kris’s head, so she laid back down with the camera on her chest and just kept taking photos with the camera point up toward the gap in tree above the river hoping someone would see the flashes. I believe Kris was most likely dead at this point and Lisanne was dying slowly also. The 70 odd attempts to activate Kris’s phone between the 8th and the 11th was probably Lisanne trying to leave a message for her family. Soon after she died leaving the phone on until the battery died. They lay there on the rock decomposing for many weeks and then a massive flash flood occurred which rose the river level life a day picking up the bag and decayed bodies and washed them down stream bouncing around with thousands of small boulders on the way, the backpack floating on top and as the water level went down quickly the bag was left in the rice field and the bone scattered along the banks of the river. The skulls being round would have continued tumbling down river and probably ended up many miles down. That’s what I think happened. The murder hypothesis is just way too sofisticado and so much unnecessary details and calls for help. People go missing in national parks all the time never to be found again. If locals killed them they would take the money in the bag bury the bodies and everything else somewhere far away from civilians and nearby townships and no one would be the wiser. All the evidence in this case leans heavily to death by jungle. Plus panama is a beautiful country and quite safe especially around boquete.
@@Leo-eb1wl Your'e somewhat clinical and very convenient analysis makes you sound like a Panama tourism promoter sadly and I don't buy the 'lost in the jungle' theory one bit. Neither do many others on here. Why was photo 509 deleted permanently by computer? Why did the girls not record any video or voice messages when they were still able to? If your flash flood happened how was the back pack found in such clean and dry condition. A Flash flood sufficient to smash human remains to pieces would have easily destroyed 2 mobile phones and 1 Canon camera! Why were Kris's shorts found neatly folded on a rock? Where are the rest of the girls clothing? Why was Kris's Hip bone found bleached? Do flash floods contain bleach?
@@lazycalm41 it’s not convenient, and I am not a Panamanian promoter, though it is a great country. Look to be honest I used think these girls were murdered too and it really bothered me. So I went all in, not all in watching RU-vid conspiracy theories. I read every article and testimony during search and post discovery, not someone’s translation from Spanish to Dutch to English. The more I read and analysed the all the evidence the less convinced I was that this was foul play. Obviously nobody alive ( unless of course they were murdered) knows exactly what happened. However I feel there any many people who completely disregard the getting lost theory because of some things that are strange to explain when with the murder theory there are way more strange things are are hard to explain. Also there is a lot of misinformation out there. I will try and answer your questions. In regards to leaving messages for loved one’s this is usually done when someone is almost certain of death and alone. I don’t believe in that first few days the girls thought they were going to die, I think assumed there would be people looking for them. Maybe if Lisanne was able to get into Kris’s phone in the couple of days leading up to the 11th the phone died, she may well have left a message if she had been able too. However I don’t think this indicates foul play as some people leave messages some don’t. The flash flood The flash flood happens regularly, pretty much every time it rains heavily on that mountain range and there were 2 days in particular in June that were really heavy double that of any other day during that 10 week period. Explaining the bag v bodies part isn’t that complicated, if you look at the surface of a steep fast flowing river that is experiencing a flash flood there are no rocks on the surface the move below the surface. The bag which is made of nylon would be float on top while the ( badly decayed ) bodies would be dragged under up and under, plus if you have seen images of the culebra river there are hundreds of boulders stuck in the river that anything going down would hit. All bones, bag and other evidence were found scattered over 4 miles down the sides of the river. The bag being buoyant made it all the way down to the rice field. While the bones being heavier and easier to snag were further up the river. No doubt in the river there would still be bones, but this search was never done as it is virtually impossible to do. ‘ bleached bones’ Bleached bones doesn’t mean actual bleach was used, it refers to the colour of the bone, bleached bones are common with bodies that decay in the sun, not in moist forests so much. Where the monkey bridge is there is plenty of sun no trees grow in the river so the large boulders are exposed to sunlight for quite a few hours each day. Also it wasn’t Kris’s pelvis that was bleached it was one of her ribs, her pelvis was yellow and showed normal decay color. The 28 bones found of Lisanne were all in her shoe so they were also protected from sunlight and decayed much slower. The thinnest part of flesh is over the rib cage so if Kris was dead laying on her back the ribs would be exposed to the sun really quickly. Kris’s shorts The indigenous women who found the shorts in her official statement said she found them in the water, somehow later it was changed to neatly folded on a rock. So who knows The lady from alto Romero who found the bag, also said that phones, passport and money we inside a closed plastic bag inside the backpack when she found it. The bras, glasses and camera were not, however the camera was in a hard camera case that was water resistant. Something to note with boquete region is it is almost always windy, so even if rains during the night or for a day if there is a break in the weather things dry out really quickly, that is why you don’t see mould growth on the rocks that line the river. Now you may not want to except any of these possibilities which is fine, many people have convinced themselves of what happened and aren’t open to other possibilities. So I will put this to you. Let’s say they were murdered. Why were there multiple call attempts over 8-9 days made to both 112 and 911. If your reasoning is that the murders were trying to create the narrative of them being lost... how did they know the to call the Dutch number?? Why do it for over a week, I mean a couple of days would have been enough. Why didn’t these murders take the money? I mean it wouldn’t have been suspicious if there was no money found in the bag as there are no shops on the mountain. Why in the night photos 8 days after they went missing are there images of a stick that clearly looks like a device to help aerial search see them and papers on the rock spelling out something large that would be only read easily from above. Name me another murder case that is as sophisticated and well planned out. Then 10 weeks after, when the investigation is dead and no more searches are being done they decide to dump all the bones and then place a bag in a rice paddy to be found. And you think my theory is unrealistic?? In any case I don’t want this to be ugly, it makes me sad that these bright young girls lost their live in their prime. If more evidence was introduced that led me to believe they were murdered I would not hesitate to change my mind, but as it stands I’m of the they got lost theory.
@@lazycalm41 sorry one other thing just quickly. In 2016 a group of three tourist were doing the pianista trail, one of which was a Colombia girl, she became separated from the other 2 as she stopped for a few minutes to rest and said she would catch up. She never did, the other 2 who were on the trail looked for her but she was nowhere to be found so they went straight back down and alerted authorities who unlike in 2014 responded straight away flying in 200 search personnel and 2 helicopters, she was found 18 hours after the next day, healthy. She did however sleep the night in the jungle. The other two knew more or less where they got separated but it still took 18 hours to find her. I don’t care how many people say it’s easy and really hard to get lost, it is simply not true, especially if you continue past the mirador ( lookout )
