On the lengthy point on anger - Seneca was not saying do not get angry, just not to lose control. This can be best illustrated when we are disciplining our own kids - if we get angry, then it will be "because i said so", but if we learn to control that anger, maybe we listen to what the kid is saying and come up with the proper teaching that the kid requires - everyone benefits - we become better parents, the child learns right from wrong - but the latter is more difficult, the former is quicker, easier - and so we fail to appreciate Seneca's advice.
