The Difference of $90 dollars from Gloria "DOUBLE SHOWCASE WIN" March 27th, 1984. Aired 8 months back in Season 12 she won over $23,000 thousand dollars in prizes!! Season 13 Thursday November 8th, 1984. Alvira wins both showcases difference of $90 dollars. Total of $35,009 thirty-five thousand nine dollars including $1000 & won two cars!! June off by $155 dollars. These were 2 great bids!!

Already won a Renault Alliance in Money Game and $1,000 on the wheel, and now both showcases -- what a day for Alvira! I think at that time, she became the third largest winner in the history of the show, only behind the $38,462 win and the then-winnings record of $39,518 which was set back on May 8, 1984. But I feel a little bit sad for June, getting so close on her bid only to lose to a DSW. Any other day, she likely would have won.

It was just amazing because not many contestants could come within $100 especially on high-priced showcases like hers. At the time, DSWs were usually accomplished with lower-priced showcases.

Totally agree but I dont put the whole blame on Drew though. The show has had a shorter runtime for years now. I think it's 10 mins or so shorter than it was back int he day which does allow for the normal banter between the contestants that Bob had. To me that was big part of the show. It just feels too rushed now. They can't even name the product manufactuers anymore either. "It's a can of beans" I'm like oooookay smh

Anyone know how often they did the Elevator showcase with the Robot instead of Dian? I don't remember it at all! I wouldve thought maybe it was because of a Holly absence during this era, but there she was co-anchoring the news lol.

It’s usually Janice and Holly that model the prizes in the Department Store showcases with Dian as the elevator operator (Anitra was the elevator operator from 1974-76).
