Senior day is a monthly food pantry and household items give away, this is once a month for seniors only, God is so good. I'm thankful and I rejoice every day

Also, don't forget that some people can't get to the pantries. Disabled people, some older people, and others without vehicles are especially vulnerable to missing out on resources that could help them. Carrying that on a bus would be difficult for many. If you know someone in that situation, please offer to drive them. You'll be making a huge difference in someone's life!

True, that's what happened to me after Thanksgiving . My food pantry no longer does home delveries. No exceptions. I ' can't find anyone to take me. It's mighty hard. There's no taxis and they cost too much. Well, at least I'm losing a little more weight.

Hi Belinda, I have been going to food bank before my legs got chopped off now, I have 2 food banks in my area delivers them to us and it's a blessing for us because we are low income family.

I was going to say what she put there, you should call your townhall as well they may direct you to the help you need, No one should ever be with out food, it's horrible how little there is for the elderly people alway's seem to forget thing's like the fact they may not be able to drive or get to the places they need to the most. Have you tried meal's on wheels they might have something like that just have to get to the right people and services, You should ask a neighbor it never hurts to ask, an elderly lady lived at the end of my driveway but she could still drive and she would take several elderly women who could not to run errands and shop twice a month. Try calling the churches in your area keep trying don't give up.

Wow, you got a good haul. In Rhode Island they have one food bank I believe but for a little state they have a lot of needy. Things are tough for a lot of people.

The chicken I drain any liquid and then I put it on corn tortillas and roll and fry them for taquitos. Top with shredded lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese or whichever you like, sour cream and diced jalapeños if you like it hot.

I don't understand why anyone would come on your page and say anything rude . I'm a senior as well and I do go to a food bank once every two weeks and it really helps me with the price of groceries and I could care less with anyone has to say about it.

With the chicken in the bags, take 1 bag and put it in a bowl. To that chicken, add 1 cup of parmesan cheese (Kraft in the green container is ok) and 1 egg. Mix well, and form into patties or nuggets and shallow fry them. The kids will love them. If made into patties you can serve on a roll like a Chic-Fil-A sandwich.

For the packs of chicken meat, I would probably make chicken salad for sandwiches or use it in pasta salad in place of tuna. I like your idea of turning them into BBQ chicken for sandwiches, too. As you say, there are so many ways to use it! I'm a big fan of hot tea with honey and lemon, especially when I'm sick. Green tea or black, it's good with honey and lemon, and great for the throat. The lemon cuts down mucus and the honey helps kill bacteria while also soothing. It's very helpful!

what a great haul!!! And you are right, I used to volunteer at the food bank if people don't take it, it will go to the landfill. And you are also right that many do not have income requirements so you should take advantage. With these food prices, we all could use some extra help

The fact that Indiana "doesn't care" what your income level is, is disturbing to me, Indiana is considered a Red State and is always criticizing people getting SNAP. I don't know of any other state that doesn't have an income level requirement.. I think that you might be wrong there because what you're suggesting is that someone earning good money, no bill paying problem can go get free food because there is no record of income.

She is attending a church run pantry and not a state run food bank. Also, some of us who make too much for assistance such as food stamps still need the help with affording food. It is often working class or seniors who need help but may make too much for other assistance and need the pantries to help put food on the table and feed their families.

Shredded chicken sandwiches. Shred the meat and and a can of cream of chicken soup. You might not need the entire can of soup. Serve on a bun. This recipe is an Ohio favorite.

I started using canned chicken in the past year to make a quick chicken noodle or chicken vegetable soup after work, or an easy chicken salad sandwich. Chicken salad would be good with those Hawaiian sub rolls! Could also use to make crack chicken. What I am always surprised about in your senior hauls, is the exceptional amount of sugar-laden items gifted when so many seniors are diabetic? Wish they gave more meats and veggies. Of course anything gifted is a gift indeed! Just don't want anyone struggling with diabetes to be handed the things that will harm them.

I'm not sure either what they give so much sweets on that day, I understand giving that on regular food pantry days which is every Thursday. On senior day u drive thru and pickup food, them you drive around go thru and u pick out household item. Most are already in bags and they hand it to you. For the most u don't know what's in the bags until you get home. My grandson do eat the chips and I'm glad it's diet sodo. Thanks for watching

Browning a few packs of the apple instant oatmeal in a dry pan makes a granola like snack or topping on muffins or whatever. I was skeptical but like it. Good snack for your grandkids! Throw in some chopped walnuts and raisen. Trying to help you use them up! Good for brain and heart.

Put all that packaged pre cooked chicken in a pan. Add ketchup and garlic powder or Bbq sauce and cook. Serve on buns for pulled chicken sandwiches.

You could combine a pouch of cooked chicken with the Knor pasta side and it's a very tasty meal. You can add a frozen or canned veggie such as peas, or carrots to it as well.

My mother in law receives the senior boxes and always gives me canned chicken. Try this. Mix the chicken ,I rinse it in a strainer, with an egg, bread crumbs, and shredded cheese form into patties and then dip in flour mixed with. bread crumbs and fry

Several people who post food bank hauls have talked about making chicken nuggets out of the cans of chicken they get. There are quite a few recipes for making them online. Most have you add an egg, some mozzarella cheese and the spices of your choice. There are recipes for making them in the air fryer (I don't own one of those) and for baking them. Haven't tried to make them yet but they are on my list.

Funny how many times you get walnuts, the only way to make them last longer is to vacuum seal them first before freezing them. Walnuts in Canada are a ridiculous price. I used to do a lot of baking and used raisins or walnuts. It looks like you did very well this month.

I'm so glad you're getting the extra help and that you're not too proud to share your story with us. I worked for the Dept of Human Services and during Covid we had to work with clients who were suddenly thrown into situations where they had to apply for services. Many were crying. One thing I did was provide them with locations of food pantries. All but one were so grateful. One man told me he was loosing weight because he didn't have money or benefits to buy food. I referred him to the pantries while his case was being sorted out (it was so hectic during that time). With an attitude he told me he doesn't deal with stuff like that. I politely wrapped things up and ended the call. Nothing else I could say if he wasn't willing to accept the help.

You can cook some egg noodles, put some of the bagged cooked chicken , cream of chicken soup and top with cheese . Bake at 350 until bubbly and cheese is melted . Very easy and quick ! If you cook a lot of noodles add 2 bags of chicken, if you cook half a bag noodles use less chicken. It is just however much you want . I have used drained canned potatoes for quick fried potatoes and cut them small for a breakfast scramble or breakfast burrito filling. I wonder if you could put taco seasoning on the cooked chicken and make nachos with the chips or quesadillas? I never have done that so I don’t know what it would taste like ! Great haul ! You are a sweet lady. I love your videos. I'm from New Brunswick, Canada. My husband and I are on welfare and use the local food bank. I hate that (here) they want your proof of income and you can only come to them once a month..I have a single daughter who works and is livng in another city, she makes too much to use the food banks..she has been having trouble with paying her rent and bills..she had her power shut off twice in 3 months and each time they want a reconnect fee and a deposit..it would be such a blessing if food banks operated the same here as they do where you live..Alot people have heard similar stories and use yo give to food banks, but because alot people who go to them for help are turned away because their income is too high, those people say they stop giving to those food banks. I pray God blesses you.

Do you have just one food pantry in your area? Here they get so many food donations that they don't care what your income is. They even started coming once a month at the school parking lot. I wish I could help you and ur daughter. I'll do some research Have a bless day and always remember God will supply all ur needs.

In NB, you can live a half an hour away from another town, but you must decide which food bank you want to use..they will not allow you to goto 2 different food banks. They have your info ,so they know if you have used another food bank that month. We use to goto a church 45 minutes away and have had to ask that church for help a couple times( they gave gift card from Sobeys). And God has been good to us. He always provides for us.

Great haul Belinda! About the walnuts, have you considered glazing them? It’s super easy and uses only a few ingredients. They become crispy/crunchy and lightly sweet. Makes a great snack. You can Google the recipe.

Hi Belinda! You know you really are blessed to receive the help you do in raising healthy grandsons -and keeping yourself healthy as well! You know, you can use your canned meats to put in your salads as well-that’s what I do😊also, Folgers is my fave coffee (my dad got me started on that!)

Yes Kim I thank God everyday, withe the prices of food, and the cost to cloth, shoes for teenagers are outrageous. But I do thrifty shop and can fine some clothing fir them. Thank you for watching
