Hate to bring the news but it's also a miss on the bonus question :(. The answer I was looking for was Pacman.

I'm old enough to remember every schoolroom having that pencil sharpener. And I used a mimeograph in high school, as I worked as a part-time assistant in the languages department (1969). Oh, and 20 correct - might have been 21 if I'd known the scale of things: I thought the trouser press was a tie press.
@TriviaQuizRush
@TriviaQuizRush Месяц назад
Well it's a press so we can count it as correct ;) 21 it is! Thanks for sharing!

only missed the saw and the enigma machine. I actually used a mimeograph machine in school a few times. The "plate" you were making copies of was actually reversed, the type-writer used for it made really deep impressions so the raised back side could print the copies. besides pacmac there was also ms pacman where the character had a bow on it.
@TriviaQuizRush
@TriviaQuizRush 2 месяца назад
Correct. And thank you for sharing. Seems like quite the hassle to make some copies
@jaquigreenlees
@jaquigreenlees 2 месяца назад
@@TriviaQuizRush that's why photocopiers became so popular, no need to use a special typewriter to set up the plate or stand there cranking the machine around and around to make copies.

#22 is a meat slicer
@TriviaQuizRush
@TriviaQuizRush 2 месяца назад
Thought that too, but found multiple images like this that said bread slicer. You would think this crushes the bread…
@hollis2557
@hollis2557 День назад
I think it’s a meat slicer. Would be good to slice bacon but pushing down on bread without a serrated blade would crush the bread.

Sorry, but I really take offense at misinformation, object #3, you are correct in that it is a fruit press. Used to either make juice, cider or some varieties of wine, albeit small batches of each. However it is NOT a lard render, if you tried to use this to render lard you would just have a huge mess and a pissed off Grandma. The way you render lard is to put your fat, typically pork for lard and fry it, pouring off the rendered fat as it became a large amount. You would do this until all you had left in the pan is a bunch of pieces of what used to be fats but is now... nothing you want in the house
@TriviaQuizRush
@TriviaQuizRush 21 день назад
I can only imagine the mess! Thank you for sharing Kenny. I completely share your opinion that missinformation on the internet is an issue (especially these days). So therefore my sincere apologies if the mention of lard press is incorrect. I'm from a "later" generation than lard-presses (mid-eighties) so I have never seen one. I had to do with what the internet provided me, and I was told this was both a fruit and lard press :(. I will certainly do better fact checking next time!

Many of these objects still exist, but they were all referred to in the past tense.
@TriviaQuizRush
@TriviaQuizRush 2 месяца назад
You’re absolutely right, many are still used today. I used mostly past tense on how they were used in that shape or form, as newer ones have often seen improvements.

A mortar and pestle has not changed its function and they are available at Walmart. A flour softer is used for the same purpose as it was originally used for and Walmart sells them. Pencil sharpeners are still used to sharpen pencils today, and you can buy one at Staples. Pressure cookers are still used today (see KFC), for the same purpose.

Without any scale, I thought the snuff box was a cigarette case. My Grandpa dipped snuff for 80+ years. Many of your "photos" are so poor, there's no way to determine a french fry cutter form a rack! Your "milk skimmer" isn't one. A CREME separator MUST use centrifugal force to separate the heavier creme from milk. I've cranked my Aunt Katie's creme separator after MILKING HER COW over a half-Century ago!!!
