I found this dress on the free table at one of my meetups in Florida!! LOL I'm not really liking either choice in screens right now and I have a third option to try, stay tuned!!
I bought this to put my iPad on the tripod: amzn.to/3zuCyp2 it's not the tripod itself, but an attachment for it to hold the iPad. I must say it seems a little top heavy when I use it and I typically don't use it. I think it may be my tripod that isn't sturdy enough to hold the weight of the iPad. and I do have the largest iPad they make so it's a bit heavy.
Hi Lulu, I hope your day is going well. Thanks for sharing your new screens. Love the dancing. We all need to keep moving, I turned 63 today and feel great!
I made the best stealth window screens for my Promaster! Using sticky back Velcro tape….. I used the soft side and attached it to the inside window frame, that part stays in place and is not noticeable. Attach the hook side to the installed tape. Remove the backing from the Velcro and stick the screen to it….. automatic perfect fit! Trim and finish as you desire. It’s worked fabulously for me.🤗
I think the ones you made look great and the ones you bought look really good too. I wish they could fit on my promaster van but i haven’t been able to find ones that do. But at night, I need the window covering anyway. The top part of my window coverings folds back on the top and there is a screen, maybe the top 8” or so.
For people that worry about sleeping with a partially open window and a screen cover, consider sewing a couple small bells to the screen fabric. These could be small bells, similar to those used on cat collars.
Hi Lulu! I have metal bars with a screen on the side door installed in the inside. I can open it with the van locked. Sleep well and not worry. I also travel with my dog and I can park in the shade and leave her with the side door open, locked in. I have a small fan on and water. I also have a sign that says ,,Happy campers “ for people not to worry about a dog inside. Never have any problems. She goes everywhere with me . Happy travels ❤️
The bars were custom fit and would be very hard to break in. I can’t excess the van from outside on that side, but that’s okay because my bed is built in with storage on the passenger side and the kitchen and storage is on the opposite side. It’s a 2011 Transit Connect Van . I❤ It
I just got screens with the magnets in them and put them on the inside of the door frame, instead of outside and can close my door. I like the ones you made.
I purchased Breeze Guard metal screens for dogs. Perfect. Put it in once and roll up and down your window. I would have my dog in the car with the windows rolled down and I would hear people say that poor dog in the car with the windows rolled up. They would walk over and say no the car has screens. You order them by telling them your car make & model plus the vin number. They fit perfectly in your car. My dog died and I sold that car but I am thinking of ordering them for my new car. We have had purse snatchers and other things. Very expensive but worth it for the safety factor. $375 for a pair
I think both will be fine. I don’t think either look stealth, but then I don’t think you need to be stealth in most scenarios where you stay at night as you have permission. I wonder if you couldn’t make a screen that is on the inside only? I have the divider so my front windows are always closed. Perhaps you need a bad ass air horn?? 😂
HAHA!! I do have an airhorn, Luanne from AZ gave it to me!! I'm not talking stealth as far as being found out and trying to not getting kicked out. I want it to look stealth to passerbys, that it just looks like a parked locked van and not a van with the window down, that kind of stealth.
I don't think they are stealth enough to make a difference if someone is looking for a car to break in to. Not being a Debbie Downer...just giving an honest opinion. I think you did an excellent job with the ones you made.
Curious what it looks like with the door shut and the second layer unzipped. It might be more obvious looking than your first homemade option. Maybe a thick continuous magnetic strip could blend better than numerous round ones? Possibly white?
I was surfing 🏄♀️ around the web looking for window ventilation options and look who pops up in my messages... Lulu! I have square windows in my 1990 Suburban Land Yacht. Thinking I'll try soffit vents. They have louvres to help if it rains. Keep Dancing! 💃💃💃
Hi Lulu! I have been using ones like those new ones u just ordered but I find that not enough air is flowing through. So I am going to make some like the older ones u made. Keep up the great videos! Thank you 😊
that's what I'm afraid of, not enough air flow. I'm not trying to figure a way to work with the ones I have and make them better on the bottom edge. THANKS!!
Wow Lulu, I was pretty impressed with the screens you made. I do understand your concern about being stealth. I would probably use both depending on where I'm camping. I'm a girl that needs a breeze. If I had to choose one, probably the purchased one.
While on and in place, use masking tape to make a clean line and mask off the window, remove the screens, and put cardboard inside and spray paint the "car/white" areas white, so it is less obvious... then you will be more stealthy.
I have seen some women have like an expandable gate, maybe 4 to 6 inches high. You close the window and it goes in a groove to hold it there. I wonder if you could put screen on the inside of that and give you enough circulation for the fan. I dont think it would be quite as noticeable but I have never seen one in person, only on the meetups that the women show their hacks. Just another idea.
Lulu I love all of your videos. I just watched this video on my TV. No place for questions on my TV. My question.....I have a Dodge Grandcaravan SE. Only my front windows open. Where did u buy your rain guards for only 2 windows? Safe travels
Those are really slick, Lulu. Really like the second ones? Did you give us a name where I can order? I have a cover for windshield and both side windows, but opening the windows would be great.
hi Marilyn!! I put a link to those screens in the description box if you are interested in ordering them. but, you should know, that I decided not to keep them and went a different route. check it out here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0CwxyO9cKmk.htmlsi=rvfsiyC2Z7s18jDb
join the Facebook Group "Lulu's Way - Women's Meetups" and under the "Events" tab is all the details for the Maryland meetup!! hope to see you there! 😊
Honestly, I don't think the new ones are significantly more stealthy, as that zipper outline catches my eye in the video. So, if the old ones are significantly better for airflow, I would try working to improve those. Maybe a bottom edge of white with the magnets on the back. I do not know what it is called, but what about they make political yard signs out of nowadays? It is lightweight, waterproof, and has to be reasonably priced.
I slept in a Walmart parking lot with my windows down half way. I also had a Great Dane/German Shepherd mix with me and if some one would have tried to come in on me she would have had an arm for a souvenir lol. She is a sweet dog loves everyone but she knows when it is time to do her job. Plus if someone would have seen 160 lb dog come at them they wouldn't have stuck around lol. Only issue I had though she kept trying to steal my bed lol. We were camping in my Infiniti Qx56. So now I have a Dodge ram van if she wants to go camping with me. If just me I take the Infiniti. I had gotten me a little Chihuahua to go camping with me but he don't like car riding. So most of the time he stays home with his Daddy while mom goes camping. Now Ali wants to go camping with me and he is a Dane/Lab mix. So guess I am going to have to rotate who goes camping lol. I have such spoiled fur babies. If Bella the great Pyrenees decides she wants to start going lord help me lol.
Could you use 3” magnetic roll in white? It would hide the screen on the outside of the window. You could use around the whole window. 3" x 50 Foot - White Warehouse Labels - Magnetic Rolls 1/Roll | Item # Y10154 $66.70/Roll
I used similiar covers on my cargo van, but I don't use it anymore. I installed windows with screens in it already. I hung small bells on the insde to alert me if someone move the screens, but the wind does mess with the bells sometimes. You must be from the south........my wife says "mira" too. 😂
I’m fairly new to ur channel, but have gone back and watched many of ur past videos, which I’m enjoying very much. I was wondering if you could give a recap for new views - how many children did you have? How long were you married? What happened to your husband? How old are you? I watched a video of you in a house, I think ur daughter purchased, but I’m confused. Do you still also live in ur big home or did you sell it? Are you sometimes w/ur daughter & sometimes in ur big home w/live in family? Where do you buy your adorable dresses, pants & that teal “V” slinky top genie type pants outfit- loved that outfit!!! I’m getting ready to try ur recipes for 2 weeks and see how I feel and if I lose any weight. I grew up camping all over the US, but not so sure I like the camper van idea for myself. Traveling alone isn’t for me. But I like watching your and others do it on RU-vid. Ur a very interesting person.
oh, that's a lot of things to explain!! those are long stories!! some I have covered on my channel, some not. have some fun and watch my videos from the beginning, in order, and everything will make sense!! enjoy the food plan, you are sure to feel better!!! I'm so grateful you enjoy my videos, thanks for letting me know!! 😊
Could white spray paint the portions that go over the outside van parts. Just put cardboard underneath to paint, or draw a line with a bright color marking pen to know where to paint taking it OFF the vehicle.
Hey Lulu, this is nothing to do with window screens but I have an idea for another video when you next meet up with the group. I loved the gadget video! I have bad lower back pain at moment. So annoying. I should have been at a festival in my micro camper this weekend. It's bad enough managing in the house on my own. I bet you ladies have some great health tips or exercises between you on how to deal with such things when they happen on the road!
the little circle magnets? home depot or lowes carries them. but if you are talking about the tiny magnets I used on my inside screen, it's these: amzn.to/3RWLk5F
No, I don’t use any magnets on my screens. Your windows are just a tad bigger than mine. Also, each screen is labeled for driver and passenger, in case it gets confusing for anyone. Lastly, I usually put it over the mirror first, then over the window. It doesn’t matter, it’s just the way I do it. 💜💜
Thanks for sharing all your acquired knowledge Lulu! I have a 2020 of the same make and model so your info is very relevant to me. Lovin' my little buggy too! Travel on sister!
@Lulu, since you’re quite good at sewing, can you make a new set of screens (following the ones you’ve just bought) with your existing screen fabric? Just a thought 🤔💝
I like the manufactured ones as they do seem safer and more "put together. " But if you are in a safe spot with other friends around and feel safe I think yours would be far more refreshing. So I would keep both and live with hating how I hold on to too much stuff. Both are great. Course I have a small dog and she wouldn't let a stranger get near me.
I have a question. I just realized in my Van. That the max air fan runs without me turning the car on. Isn’t that draining your battery? How long can u run it without you running battery down ?
U R *DIY * DIY * DIY queen I have a solution that's better AND safer ..... Cut to fit Plexiglas window insert with screened ventilation holes. A- trace the gap at top of open window B- make a cardboard template, mark for vent holes and lip to catch window as it rolls up. C- plexiglass cuts pretty easy w/jigsaw to size and use hole saw smaller than hand for vents, glue screen inside rivet or screw window lip catch This allows airflow, keeps you safer, is MUCH less noticeable. Also your rain guard can function properly.
One night, I was so desperate for ANY air moving on a still night (traveling from AZ-MO), that I cracked the travel trailer door about 5” with nothing but one regular bungee cord to keep it from flying open, 🐽🤣😅!
I would take your own pair with you, as well. I like the new ones because they look more professional but, if it's too hot, you can switch them. I would keep them on and drive with them, to get used to it. Neat idea.
