Hey!!! I just hit 2k thanks for the support y'all I'm dropping out to become a full time youtuber now (but actually tysm!) Also, if you want your essays read, DM me on instagram @joshneedstostop for more info! My rates are $35 for a Common App essay, and if you want it read by two sets of eyes (my friend Margot who's going to Duke on a full ride is also helping me out), the rate is $60 for both of us! If you want other essays read, DM me because the price will change by length

That last tip really resonates with me. I feel like everything I'm doing is just to try to get into college and was completely superficial. We need to stop defining ourselves by our academic lives. Great video.

I remember starting watching your videos my freshman year of high school (3 years ago) not really involved in anything and overall just an insecure mess. And now I’m a rising senior. Honestly I can’t thank you enough for all the tips and advice you give; it’s truly helpful and more genuine than a lot of other RU-vidrs out there.

Thank you so much for this video! This was so helpful to watch. I can definitely relate with the anxiety part right now. I’m only a junior but ever since school’s started my mental health’s taken a plunge. before I blamed it on ap chem or ap calc but I think the problem’s deeper with how I organize myself and my thoughts. Anyways hope you enjoy college !

Hi, i am from india and even though it was not the most relatable video but i got to learn a lot. I am under a lot of pressure right now applying for financial aid to get into american colleges which are hella expensive. Hopefully everything works out. I request you to keep making such authentic videos. You have a unique perspective which not a lot of youtubers share.

I have not really told many people where I applied, especially my Early Decision school. If I did it was just a few and these were some that people were anyways applying to. With my ED, it wasn't really to many people and if I did, it was to people who were not gonna apply there or past the deadline. regardless, I will make sure to keep stuff under the radar. I won't tell people if I got in/defer/reject.

Hello Josh! Thank you for being so honest and compassionate; it's really helpful! Starting from my sophomore year, I've just been struggling a lot with stuff I don't know if I can coherently vocalize. I've starting cutting myself off from practically everyone in my class, because whenever I am with one of my peers, something inside me just immediately begins noticing all of the flaws I have compared to them, and acknowledging all of the negativity I've heard growing up. Clubs I spent a lot of time in attending during my freshman year lost all of their appeal to me, and it seems like I'm becoming passion-less. I know that I want to grow up helping people facing similar problems as I am right now, but that's assuming I can get past them soon enough for college applications. If I don't, what will I do? I always feel forced to display this good side of me that I barely even know myself, because would schools actually want students struggling with themselves? I am a rising junior by the way, so I know I still have some time left, but I don't know what it is that's been making me a worse person than I was before, and I just always feel this sense of dread about my upcoming future and the possible outcomes. I'm sorry for this terribly negative post, and I didn't intend to get others feeling pitiful for me or whatnot, but I could really appreciate some advice to help me get through this roadblock. Again, great video Josh! And I hope you can continue making videos even during college! :)

Hey Josh. Thank you for sharing! You mentioned that colleges compares you with your classmates, which got me thinking that I should apply to colleges that less of my class mates are applying to. Is this a right thought to have and should I follow this strategy and apply to schools that are less popular among my classes? Please explain if there are problems with this plan... if there's a down side to this... Thank you!
@joshmakesdrinksandjokes
@joshmakesdrinksandjokes 6 лет назад
That strategy would only work if you were all very similar people with very similar interests. Otherwise, focus on fit; finding a school that vibes with you as much as you with them will maximize your chances way more than applying to one because your classmates aren't Also, what's the point of going to a prestigious school if you don't like it nor fit in?
@beechen3907
@beechen3907 6 лет назад
Thank you for the reply. My classmates seem to be applying to pretty much the same schools... I am sure that we are all unique in our own way, but based on raw stats, would a higher stats student in turn bring me down, and make me less likely to go to the school since the college would compare me to someone who is stronger academically than I am? Thank you!

For getting into USC do you need recommendation letters or is it only for the Pharmacy school? And let’s say you are already at USC as an undergrad do you need to apply again for the Pharmacy school? :3
@joshmakesdrinksandjokes
@joshmakesdrinksandjokes 6 лет назад
You don't need necessarily need rec letters for USC, but I HIGHLY recommend sending them. USC hit below 13% in its acceptance rate this year, so with the number of people applying, it would really disadvantage you to not send rec letters. I think USC has up to 2 teacher recs optional and up to 1 or 2 other recs optional. Another hint: when a college says something is "optional", it really means "necessary in all cases except extenuating circumstances" For the pharmacy-related questions, I'm not really familiar with the PharmD process. For a lot of schools though I do know that you have to reapply because pharmacy school is technically a graduate school but I'm sure there's some schools that have a direct pathway so that you don't have to reapply. I know USC has that for their occupational therapy program for example

Honestly, just do your work and keep your head down. Stay out of drama, don t date upperclassmen. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A HIGH GPA. Get at least a 3.0 freshman and sophomore year. I had a 3.9 by the end of my sophomore year but my grades went down junior year yet I managed to stay above a 3.4 because of my past grades
