Great video btw. One of the reasons I enjoy your playthroughs specifically is that you willing to share how much fun you're having (voices, laughing, excitement over big turns). Thanks for sharing!
Backed the kickstarter received my deluxe all in box, with ink dropped figures. After a two year wait I’m not disappointed in the quality of the product everything is well made. While gameplay is somewhat random, it still has been fun to play.
Thematic sweetness! Fast samurai action! Now, with enemy-flicking death blows! What a delight, my friend. Forget nominating best game of the year, this was the best playthrough video of the year! 😅
You really should do a full story reading of the Solo Scenarios! Also you forgot the rule that says you can't change direction in a multi-movement move (page 15, "Moving your character"), which also applies to the AI. So for instance at 31:20 the blue AI wouldn't be able to move that way. At 43:10, the AI counters and deals 1 wound to you because they drew an attack (see page 33, speed doesn't matter for the AI) At 41:05, just an observation: you can block for other people, so if the green AI had speed 7 in their range, they could have blocked for yellow! If the AIs have no cards in their deck, they just reshuffle. That will be added to the upcoming FAQ. There's one card that reveals the discard of bleeding opponents, so it can be useful sometimes.
Hey guys .. tonight I tried to play the first scenario, despite the initial difficulty to understand all the dynamics and mechanics (cause the basic rules are pretty easy but the game has enough depth) so is it just me or is it challenging even the first scenario for a new player?
Keep going please! I'm dieing to see more of this content as I still have not received my shipping notification but stores are already putting them out. More scenarios!
I agree, the rulebook is a little rough to get through. Thanks for the play through. Got to meet up at a con and buy you a drink for the great content.
Backed it, have it and still undecided. It’s very random and the solo movement rules are hard to interpret. But the more I play it the less random it feels and the more I find myself anticipating things, planning kamae shifts because I have certain cards etc. Will be interested to hear your final review for sure.
Mike, hear me out here. You need to start a new channel called OSCST3K (One-Stop Co-op Shop Theatre 3000)! I never realized that board game art needs snarky commentary, but now I am 110% sure it does - and you need to be the one to do it!
Thanks for the playthroug. Backed this one on Kickstarter, love the Japanese theme (Ronin, Samurai etc) had high hopes but the Solo game play does look very random, hope the 1vs1 plays better.
Holy iconography and rules! I watched halfway and I still don't know what your are doing. The game looks cool but it will take some doing to absorb all the icons, movement/positioning rules, and attacks/defense.
I’m going to try to. I’ve honestly been buried with games and haven’t gotten to play it enough yet. So far it’s fun, but also quite random. It feels like many turns are “play a card and pray”. So I’m still formulating how I feel about that
Still working on it more for a full review. The cards can be pretty random, and the AI rules are more confusing than I’d prefer, but yes it’s still fun as well!
Yeah, the KS communication for this game is pretty awful too, which makes the wait that little bit more frustrating. Also bonus points for me living in the middle of nowhere half a planet away from the creators of the game so it'll likely be even longer before it gets here... at least I can be reassured that it'll be great fun once it (finally) does show up?
@@a-blivvy-yus Some folks in the UK are getting punished badly. They simply don't have enough stock for fulfillment in the UK. I wonder how incompetent as a company you have to be to manage this.
@@Biodelic Asia backers were told at the beginning of August that the fulfilment company had their games and was starting to ship them out, with the process expected to be finished by the end of August. Near the end of the month a backer got confirmation that the company was actually waiting on some stock SSG hadn't provided yet after the entire month was spent with no Asian backers having received any tracking numbers or other shipping notifications. The company said they had already told SSG about the problem, but that backer forwarded the email to SSG to make sure they had a secondary source to notify them of the problem. A week after the August deadline passed (about 2 weeks after the backer made sure they knew, and nobody knows how long since the fulfilment company notified them), they claimed to have only just found out about the problem causing a delay "48 hours ago" in spite of backers having proof that was a lie. And many backers in Asia are still waiting for their games even now. EU had *the exact same problem* as Asia, with SSG just getting caught out a few days ago as having done the same thing a second time in a different region. They claimed all the stock was in the fulfilment company's hands, after having been told by the company that they were still waiting on stock before they could begin shipping. They've since claimed that the company now has all the stock they need to start shipping, but an EU backer has been told that's not true by the fulfilment company, so... yeah. USA has had the stock in country since mid September but their fulfilment company there hasn't even started labelling boxes ready to start shipping yet. NZ and Aus shipment was "in transit to Australia" at the beginning of August, but turned out to actually be in transit to a stopover in Singapore, where it's been sitting, with a promise of "a ship is coming in October" as the only timeline we've had for over a month now for when it's going to start the trip to Australia, after which NZ backers still have to wait for our copies to ship from there to here. *NOBODY* is getting good results from this mess. Being punished is far from UK-specific on this campaign.
Not saying you should buy either, but I wouldn’t compare the two games. They both have units on a map who fight, but besides that they play and feel almost totally different, at least to me
