Senns sound clearer because they have less low frequencies pushing not because they actually are. They're not working as hard as the Sonys. Its preferrence

Did anybody else's left earbud sound really muffled and low volume during the Sennheiser audio quality test with both earbuds in? Couldn't really give a fair comparison because my left earbud channel was very low during the Sennheiser's playing.

Sennheiser is just better. I tested the Sony’s twice among others like the Jabra 75T and RHD’s. The second time I tested them all, I got to listen to the Sennheiser’s Momentum 1 (since they didn’t have the M2’s), and in an instant I was smiling big time! They were just better. So I bought the Momentum 2, and I love them. While the bass isn’t as direct and punches through your ear, they just are muuuuuch better at picking up details that usually get muffled up with the bass in the other ones I tried. And also it felt much more dynamic with the Sennheiser’s. I love them. One flaw - no wireless charging.

Thanks, again. The volume on the second song (Like You) on the MTW2s was a little too low, compared to the rest, I think. I now understand why so many people like the Sony's.. too bad they don't fit my ears. Still.. remember that the MTW2s sounds a lot better in real life than these recordings.

Actually i couldn't understand how we're supposed to hear what you hear from those buds. We hear from the gear we are using. Is this an audio edit giving the sound range they are supposed to give? I wonder how you've recorded those sounds.

Frequency edits. It’s probably a not true copy but it’s most likely that the songs are edited to emulate how it sounds on the buds. Not sure though if that’s how it’s done the differences are very audible anyway.

I think Sony & Sennheiser both have premium sound reproduction, and if I have to choose only one of them , the Sony is just a little a little a little better than the Sennheiser. Instruments details are identical on both and vocal sound is a bit more natural than the Sennheiser. The vocal sound on the Sennheiser is closer to the ears. Of course, audio perception taste is totally subjective and differs person to person. So both are pretty excellent in terms of audio quality. BUT: It seems the revolutionary new leader is born in Active Noise Cancellation & the Sennheiser did brilliant job for environment noise suppression , in low & high frequency. My recommendation is, if I’m just looking for the great sound , Sony & Sennheiser both are almost identical & if Active Noise Suppression is a very important item , the golden medal 🏅has moved from Sony to the Sennheiser. Really impressed on ANC functioning Thank you very much for so great and valuable reference video 🙏🌺🙏🌺🙏🌺

I think I would have enjoyed the review more if you played the same song back to back comparing each earphone before switching the songs. Otherwise I had to change the timeline myself to try and compare the earbuds while the song was still clear in my mind.

The Sennheiser Momentum 2 are some of the best earbuds Ive ever used. The high end is spectacular, they sound better than my Shure 535's which are double the price and they are now my default earbuds. Ive found myself listening to my flagship B&W P9 a lot less since I got the Sennheiser.

@jaspal singh As a Wf-1000XM3 user it depends fully on your ears! My ear canals suck and I have never found buds that stay in there so if you're wondering about that just get some memory foam tips, they cost only a few bucks a set from ex. aliexpress and then you can buy some cheaper buds because those bad boys quadruple the passive noise cancellation!

I have both and unfortunately have to return the Sennheisers. The Ambient Noise mode and sound in the Sennheisers are amazing; however, I find that the ANC is terrible compared to the Sony's. I've done some tests to compare the Sennheisers, Sony's and even the original Galaxy Buds and found that the latter two isolate background noise way better than the TW2s. I hear MAYBE a 5% noise reduction when I have ANC enabled in the TW2s. I originally thought that I received a defective pair, but even after getting an exchange the ANC was still terrible. I am hoping that Sony releases an updated version of the XM3's later this year that will put it back on top.

@@phantomofgod1735 Yes and that's why it's so confusing to me too, I've same feeling as Vijay has. Anc is barley noticeable in my pair. Don't know what to think about this. Many customers already complain about this but not in YT reviews. Maybe it's a latest firmware issue.

I didn’t see/hear the call quality test for the TW2’s for comparison. This was great to hear the differences between two of the best sounding true wireless earbuds currently available. As you mentioned the Sony’s have a larger sound stage and they definitely have more pronounced bass. The Sennheiser’s have superior balance and clarity which was showcased during the first track. I actually preferred the TW2’s on the first track, but preferred the Sony’s on the second track for the more pronounced bass. I was surprised to hear the differences in the ANC test. The TW2’s shined in that comparison.

Uhmm seems that Sony have sweetie mid, so when we hear the first track we could got the feeling the song so softly. I don't know is that the affection of a wider soundstage plus sweetie mid on Sony??? (The second track, of course, it's Sony stage)

You should list your settings to avoid ambiguity. And left and right ears have different auditory acuity, so not sure if the left Sony/right Sennheiser presentation worked as a useful comparison, for me at least.

It's a pity that we are unable to properly compare audio SQ properly because of the problem with the left channel on the Sennheisers. I switched constantly between the two at the relevant points and then turned up the volume for the Sennheisers at the 6 minute plus mark. That improved things and I think I slightly preferred the Sennheiser's SQ. Thank you for the video.

I thoroughly enjoy your reviews and thank you. However, I have recently purchased the Sony, Sennheiser M2 and the Soundcore Liberty Pro 2. After a very detailed testing, I find the Liberty Pro 2 to have a slightly crispier sound than the others, but the Sony is more pleasing to my ears. The Sennheiser (with a very bad EQ) doesn't compare! As far as phone call quality, I and 3 others agree.....Sony beats them both! Spending much morre money for the Sennheisers in my humble opinion - is foolish because they're not worth it.

First of all, I love the way you let us hear each one. Very clever. I have the Sony’s and they just THUMP!!! Without being muddy. The Senns were weird. It sounded like the right one was louder than the left. I hated it. But I’m sure it’s different when you actually have them. But it sounded like they were trying to use a trick to make your brain work harder to set the sound stage. It was profoundly odd. I think I’m keeping the THUMPIN’ SONYS!!

When I hear these both of song I feel bass in sony seems have better perfomance than sennheiser, plus the wider soundstage could make mid in Sony more comfortable to hear (due to its softly mid mix with the wider soundstage) But, in this video sennheiser mtw2's perfomance is worse, I don't know is that recording-method have any problem or itself have worse performance? Because when these both song played by my mtw1, I had recognized only two problem: Mid less a little bit of softly, sweetie than Sony and sub-bass worse, end. Btw, if compare sony to sennheiser for audio quality, it's like 50~50. For ANC, etc.. I have no comment

This review inspired to check prices on the Sony’s and I found a pair for under $100 so I bought them. Admittedly the Sennheisers do sound better but i enjoyed the Sony’s for that indulgent bass. I think with some tuning from the app the Sony’s can come close the the sennheisers in clarity with the added flexibility of having the bass when your want it. Thanks for the review!

You missed out the call quality test on the sennheiser M2 on this video? Anyway i can conclude that compared with sounds quality, Sony XM3 takes the lead due to the bass and surround sounds. As for Ambient mode and ANC, Sennheiser M2 maybe slightly better. Calls quality still unknown due to Sennheiser M2 was missed out on the test. Price wise sony definitely wins. Actually to my opinion, there is not a must to have the most branded or expensive gadget. There are lots of brandless & cheap TWS from china but very good types. As long you feel comfortable and as well your pocket budget.

I returned my Sony’s for the Sennheiser’s because the Sony’s had major connection problems with my iPhone 11 Pro Max. I’d listen to Spotify and the music would skip as if I was listening to a scratched CD. I went through 2 pair and then I went to the Sennheiser and no issues. I also have the Powerbeats Pro and no problems. The Sennheiser’s are on sale at Best Buy for $189. The Sony’s are more comfortable but the Sennheiser’s are detailed. I can hear things in music I never heard before.

Why was the audio off on the sennheiser music playback? Sound was even on the Sony, then very low volume in my left ear for the sennheiser. Was this accurate or a recording issue?

I bought true wireless sennheiser from amazon. It has many problems with the software, connection and battery life. So i have send them back. Sennheiser would be a poor choice.

I have both and I can GUARANTEE that the Sennheiser's do NOT sound like that at all at 6:08 with this weird "phasing effect". Something went wrong with your recording setup (what is it exactly by the way?) ! Please fix and republish.

kind of excited to how sennheiser really sounds like. comments were right when they say volume on the senn;s are lower than the sony's. but like all the other reviews i've heard that the momentum's sound has more details but the WF's bass has superiority. and IMO, lowering the bass levels of the WF's may compete with the momentum's by a small margin. overall i think it depends on the listener's liking. me being a bass head prefer the WF's. i still fancy the senn's details though w/c is good in acoustic tracks and classics. and i'm listening to this w/ my WH-1000XM3's btw. i think this overpowers the 2. the only cons is having to be a full size headset. 😁

Just came across your channel today, thank you for all the MTW2 reviews! I picked up the Sennheisers last week and have been having serious call quality issues with them, as well as bad dropouts and range issues. Trying to work out if I just have a bad set or if that's just how they are. Your call quality tests are fantastic as that's the main issue I've been having. When I compare your results to mine, i have to think I have a bad set, so thanks to your videos I'll have some extra weight behind my warranty claim. What's your opinion on best call quality and sound? Sony? Senns? something else?

FYI I had horrible connection issues with the Sonys to my Pixel 3 XL , Dropped calls in the middle, says it is connected and it didn't connect to a web Google hangouts call. The audio was great, and it was nice to compare them to a wired UA, and they did very well. But had to return them

Love the content as usual. A possible recommendation would be to do each ANC and ambient noise features of the compared buds right after each other instead of doing senni anc and ambient noise followed by sony anc and noise cancelling (IE senny anc then sony anc, followed by each ambient noise) . i just think this would allow for an easier comparison. thanks again.

@@christiankansichi6622 Sennheiser has more details and sound stage. I feel the TW1 was a bit better in sound stage compared to TW2 but the issue with discharging and battery life pushed me to TW2.

IMO, the Sony's sound more fuller, but not as sharp. The Sennheisers are more clear, but not as full.

Excellent and unique review. I wish I had seen this before I made my purchase. First, no volume control on the Sony's earbuds! Arg! Second I did not get full playing time under variety of licensing conditions. Back to volume, When I Switched to TV from licensing to music on my phone , i found out that volume was low, because volume it was set to low during my music licensing. I had to disconnect from TV and connect to cell phone and crank the volume up. As you know you can not do this with earbuds outside your ear since it turns off automatically. It is deafening. Another Arg! Unless I was doing something wrong or it was a better safer way to do it that I did not discover, Sony engineers and managers who approved this flaw were mentally on vacation! SO i did it what I had to, returned the darn thing and Bought Sennheiser . Sennheiser has volume control and does not have the same issues. Still testing it since yesterday's purchase. I personally like the sound quality of the Sony. Wish it did not had those issues. If you still have the Sony, can you please verify the volume issue and comment on playing time. Thanks, Henry

If you want Sony sound cleared , it would be easier to customize Sony apps such as Vocals, Speech, extreme Bass, speech.

Great video. Just possibly some tips for more vids like these in the future (sorry, don't mean to be "that guy"): The 2nd song - the volume is FAR lower on the sennheiser than on the Sony, whidh makes a true audio comparison a bit difficult. And it was a bit jarring since that audio was signirficantly lower than all the others. I would also A/B eadh clip in oreer to allow viewers to better compare. IOW, song A on Sonys, then Son A on Senns, then Song B on Sonys, then song B on the Senns. They it is here, by the time I get to song A on the Senns I have forgotten what it sounded like on the Sonys.

Is the anc comparison accurate? Cause i heard from other reviewer it's simillar but in the comparison i felt like the anc on the senn is way better

I've got senns and anc is terrible! You cannot recognize whether is on or off. Check Amazon reviews, many customers are already complain about this. If anc is important for you look somewhere else. I'm sending mine back. Ps. Check Mr. Vijay Naicker review down below, I've got same feeling.

Sound very similar to me when I try them out and about over the last few days. I think the Sennys do just have the edge though, but its not like off the stage compared to the Sonys.

@@zblazjusz hi blaz I meant the ANC, I think the Sony’s do a better job of higher range voice cancelling, it’s really close I wouldn’t use it as a buying differentiator.

I'm listening with my Hifiman Arya. For me, the Senn. MTW 2 sound more airy and spacious. Also the Mids appear Lusher, with slightly better instrument seperation. All the other sound characters appear to be similar. My choice would be the Sennheiser Momentum.

Senny have the vocal more forward, Sonys are warmer though. AC was similar I thought. Call quality on Sonys was terrible but better than I thought it would be, I have both at the moment to test for my own use. Senny need to pick up their game on call quality and only single BT connection, haven't even got fast switch like the Sonys and they are £289 in the UK where the Sonys are £163. Not sure the Sennys are worth that much more, may get the Sonys and keep an eye out for the new Bose, Sonys, Galaxy Beans etc over next few months. I just need a pair of Buds with ANC and decent sound to compliment my work Airpod Pros. When working at home or long-distance travel (remember that) I tend to use my Bose 700's which I love and am using now to listen to this. With their flatish signature, they are great for your audio reviews. Excellent job as always 👌

The test you are doing hopeful is just not good for earphones because the Sennheiser were completely off centered and weak in volume. They weren’t even close...the Sony’s destroyed the Sennheiser using your test ..not sure this is real life results though

Just ordered the Sonys. I was considering the Sennheisers but at £280 they are a bit pricey. Got the Sonys in a black Friday deal for £150.

I have experience with both. The Sennheiser absolutely beat the crap out of the Sony when it comes to sound quality. Much better instrument separation, much more satisfying to listen to. Pairing was a real pain in the ass but after that, I like the Sennheiser by far. Not even in the same league.

Sony's EQ was set to flat. HUGE difference when you manually adjust the equalizer. At that point, in a blindfold study test, it would be nearly impossible to know or choose between the 2.

I used to own the original Sennheiser TMWs and glad they fixed that battery drain issue but I am.surprised they left that stupid master/slave connection setup which is a deal breaker. Glad the Sonys connect each bud independently. Picking up the Sonys soon, hopefully Sennheiser fixes this garbage for the TMW 3s

Are you using the same side earbud to do these tests? For example the right earbud on the Sony and the right earbud on the Sennheiser even though one earbud is playing thru the left mic?

Wait a minute, how does this work, im confused, how are we hearing higher quality using cheap headphones? Is the difference between cheap and expensive headphones only in programming? Other wise i really dont understand how that would be possible

One thing i might have missed or is not in your comparisson. Can the Momentums reach significantly higher Max Volume? Am asking cause in some cases , especially of older recordings i always feel like lacking a little "bite" volume wise with the Sony`s. So for me the first argument to consider the Sennheisers would be if somebody tells me "they go a lo t louder"
