Excellent, well-spoken, no nonsense advice, with special attention and instructions to being VERY careful. I am impressed. I had a single speck of dust, almost invisible to the eye on my sensor, and was able to lift it off with the dry static technique. Cheers and happy snapping.

Very well done. Perfect instructions. Great visuals. Easy to understand... Good detail... Thank you for enunciating clearly so that each word is perfectly understood... (So many mumble through)... Thank you for this awesome free video... Greatly appreciated. Especially since I was quoted a price of $169 (before taxes) to clean the camera. and that the camera would be gone for 7 - 21 days....

Thank you. Panicked when I saw a dot on my images. Did the checks and it was dust. Ordered swabs and cleaning fluid, but, after some good puffs it cured the problem. No doubt will have to do it wet in the future - had the Nikon D3500 for 6 month and taken 3000 images with lens changes but feel confident to tackle this now, although will watch again.

Really useful video thank you. This has given me the confidence to do this myself rather than pay a service centre. I have just ordered a kit from the camera clean link below. The website is very very useful. Drop down filters to find your camera so you know exactly what kit to buy. Kits are cheaper on amazon but no guarantees what fliud your buying to clean your image sensor with. Really not worth the risk. To reward as very helpful website and RU-vid video, plus piece of mind its worth paying a little more.

Recently found a huge amount of dust spots on photos when checking in Lightroom spot remover, no idea where they've suddenly appeared from. Cleaned all lenses & tested, still the same. Thought I would have to take it to a dealer at 50quid a time as too nervous to try & clean the sensor myself. Having watched your video it has given me the confidence to do it myself . Fingers crossed 🙂 Thanks for the video

Is it normal if you use the brush really near the sensor border or its sidewalk some oil or fluid get over the sensor?? I've got this problem on my dx camera, dirt was near the edge of sensor, so I had to use brush really near the edge, but everytime it was bringing fluid by touching the edge over the sensor :/ thanks need to use at minum 5 of them to clean again and then dry the sensor..

I recently picked up a D6 from a local dealer only to find out after shooting an outdoor event the sensor needed cleaning. I took it back for cleaning but the results were worse than before. Being a Nikon dealer I trusted the sensor would be clean but that wasn't the case. More PShop editing for the F16 and above outdoor photos. I took it back for another cleaning and they wanted to know if I had photos to show them of the dust on the sensor. I showed them test shots on a white board before and after their cleaning. I want get into all the details of my conversation why they felt the sensor got dirty but I was told the new 24-70mm I purchased at the same time sucks in dust every time I zoom the lens and that could have caused the problem. Owning several D4's and 24-70mm's without issues I felt this was a cop out. I was told they use a loop to make sure there is no dust on the sensor but they don't test with a lens to verify the sensor is totally cleaned. I offered to leave my lens with them to take a few test shots after cleaning the sensor but they didn't want it. A loop is a great tool but taking the extra time to take a test shot with a lens to make sure your sensor is totally cleaned is the only way to go. Great video and thanks for taking your time to put it together for us.

Hello. I noticed that my camera has a small hair in it, but when I take pictures they don't appear. What should I do? Where should I clean? I tried to clean the sensor and the before lock up with a cutter but there was no result. I need help, please respond. Also, I don't have the kit you are using in the video so the only way to clean it is either with a tissue or a cutter
@thedustpatrol7515
@thedustpatrol7515 4 года назад
Hello Stivos, obviously the hair is in the viewfinder system. Be aware that the screen, which you can see when you remove the lens and look upwards into the mirror box, can very easily be scratched. If the hair is on the lower side of the screen you may be able to reach it with a tweezer and remove it. Do NOT touch the screen. If the hair is on the upper side of the screen, I recommend a pro to remove the hair.

Thank you for the video ! Please I ask for your advice if you can , I have an insect in my DSLR ! What do you recoment ?
@thedustpatrol7515
@thedustpatrol7515 5 лет назад
I assume that the insect is in the viewfinder system. If you can see it clearly in the viewfinder, it may be on the top of the screen, the side of the screen that faces up and you usually can't reach,. Before you try to remove the insect, be aware that the screen is very, very, very sensitive to scratching. The screen has a little nose to hold it. This nose my show to the front or to the side and it is small. Don't touch the screen anywhere else. The screen is hold in place by a spring, more like a metal bar, at the front of the mirror box. The spring is hiding behind the light baffle foam. You need a v-shaped tiny tool to push the spring back over the black post that holds it. Lay the camera on its back to do this. Be aware that there may be distance plates under the screen to keep it in the right position. After loosening the spring, you can grab the screen carefully at its nose or you can turn the camera a little bit forward so that the screen will flip down. If you can see the insect on the screen or in the viewfinder system, use a blower to remove it. Don't blow strongly. And again, do not touch the screen anywhere else but at its nose. If your camera has distance plates, put them into position and then put the screen back into position. Lift the spring back over the post to hold the screen in position. We may make a movie to show how to do this at some time.

@@thedustpatrol7515 Thank you ! Please make a video , it would be very helpful ... yes the insect was in the viewfinder , i didn't know what to do , i cleaned the camera using " Clean Image sensor" mode and a bulb blower , afterwards I couldn't spot the insect again , but to be sure the insect is not active in there to poop around i placed the camera in a cardboard box along with a electric power mosquito device which works with chemical tablets, that was my idea , don't know if it was a good one , if the insect died by the chemical then it is probably still in there , if you like put that method in mind as well if you want to use it for your video , thank you again for your advice , personal time and videos !

If I cleaned the sensor on my Nikon d3400 (blew it out, wiped with swabs and cleaning spray, etc) and I still see a "hair or piece of lint" when I look through the viewfinder, where the heck is this hair/ lint coming from??? I cleaned everything inside and out. Or at least I think I cleaned everything. HELP!
@thedustpatrol7515
@thedustpatrol7515 6 лет назад
If you can see it in the viewfinder, it is in the viewfinder system, not on the sensor. It will not show up on pictures. Very likely it is on the screen which you can see after having removed the lens. The screen is on top of the mirror box, you can see it looking to the top inside the mirror box. Do not touch the screen, you can scratch it very easily. If you can't blow it away, it may be on top of the screen. The screen can be removed and cleaned, but without experience you may end up with a damaged screen. If it disturbs you very much, though not showing up on pictures, I recommend letting a professional repair man remove the hair out of the viewfinder system.
