This is quite common for youth academy players that play for big teams. This is not the case for teams that have mande a name for themselves by producing promising talent ( Borussia Dortmund). The insatiable need for triumphs puts extra pressure on coaches and that often pushes them to rely on players that have proven themselves in other teams, rather than give a young player the chance to play.

normally they sign 4-5 years contract, but lucas said in the 1st to 2nd season in chelsea he still hope he can get to the main team. so maybe in that first 2 years he sign 3-4 more years extension.

Yes, Chelsea did what I used to do in Football Manager, buy a player very cheap, loaned it with 100% wage condition & some money each month, and in a couple of years player is paid, I start to making money from him and the player never play for my team. So, Lucas Fernandes & Eder Militao (Sao Paulo) Kevin N'Doram (Mónaco) and a bunch of regens... I'm sorry. Business is business.

I remember back in FIFA 15 I did a RTGmanager career mode for Cardiff City after one of his loans, I picked him up for dirt cheap and helped me out in the early stages of the career mode. Him and Ravel Morrison were unstoppable. Unfortunately, when I had more money, I replaced him for some kid named Memphis Depay. Píazon would come off the bench but later during the career mode when everyone was 85+ I had to sell him, I sold him for quite a bit I remember. But man was he memorable for me. I hope this man does well in his new club

Piazon is an interesting case. We had him on loan at Reading a few years ago and it never really felt his game was suited to the rough and tumble of the championship. Technically very gifted, could win a match with a bit of magic. On the slip side, he was too physically lightweight and lacked consistency. As someone else said he didn't have to renew his contract and maybe his story would be different; but cannot be blamed for doing so either. Good Luck in Portugal Lucas Piazon! 🎹

i feel so bad for you, you had to travel europe to play your dream sports earning more than 500k a year, if you had stay 8 years that means you renewed your contract, no one forced you, stop crying, there is so many miserable people who are starving, being sick etc.. etc.. So just pray for the luck you had to get paid well and still doing the thing you love.

Couldn't agree more, Its the sad music in the background that's infuriated me. Being paid millions of pounds to travel the beautiful parts of Europe and do a job you love, He should also be able to comfortably retire already at a young age and enjoy life with his family, But yes lets all feel sorry for the bloke.

I remember him, he was a great talent. Everyone talking about Fifa career; he was 76 overall at 19 in Fifa 14, his talents was good like De Bruyne one. If he left totally he would've been a champion. Chelsea administration is the worst in the football world .

I remember when he played for my favorite club in Germany in 2013 or 14 I think. He had really good potential back then and we always said if he will stay in Frankfurt he can make a name for himself here. Sadly Chelsea obviously didnt want him to stay anywhere. Marco has just recovered from a long injury tho. As a PSV fan born and raised it's good to see him back at our club again and he has been playing in matches since the last 3 weeks. He hadn't played in a match in like 950 days because of the injury. Though we have good faith that he will become a important member in the team along Götze, Malen, Sangare, Ihattaren and Gakpo

Despite playing officially only once for Chelsea, I must say he is inspiring, he was in so many different countries and experienced so many different play styles because as he said himself: "Dutch league is different to the German league" and "it was a completely different world". Glad that he now got an equal amount of appearances for Braga in one season than Chelsea in 7 SEASONS! Maybe he could bounce back and prove his worth, I wish him luck for that.

It works both ways, these kinds of situations. From one angle you can say: he's being used as an asset where there's no focus on his personal development. On the other end: not every play breaks through and he did have a contract with Chelsea in which he has probably gotten some financial security, where other players have to fight for a minimum wage to come around.

I remember Piazon when he was playing for Vitesse. He was absolutely an amazing player. Incredible. This makes it more difficult to see that he got between the Chelsea wheels. Same goes for Marco van Ginkel. Van Ginkel is a great fucking player, but Chelsea never gave him a chance
