Hasbro needs to do more with Power Rangers. Take some notes from Super Sentai! My TikTok: / asdeclassified / asdeclassified / asdeclassified #PowerRangers #cosmicfury
I doubt they’ll do the 10 years later specials cuz the actors sometimes don’t want to come back like Dino Charge Green’s actor admitted he regrets doing PR. Or an actor is dead like Ninja Storm Red’s actor
This actually applies to Sentai as well. Some actors get too big and are busy or retired, meaning not every Sentai gets a reunion special because of that.
@@jm10adz14 I don’t remember if he ever mentioned why, I just remember one day reading about how he got drunk and started ranting bout regretting Dino Charge on twitter
There's no excuse why they can't take a note out of the Sentai's playbook. At this point they shouldn't even be so dependent on stock footage. They have the technology and budget to pull off the action sequences.
Older seasons did do these passing-the-torch types of situations. They would stand in front of the new season cast and explain to the cast why they were chosen. That made me feel like the new characters from the upcoming season matter.
I think they should do exactly that with the “once and always“ MMP our 30th anniversary reunion special, and tease the cosmic fury suits in live action.
I think they need Power Rangers to target more of an adult audience now. Let's put it this way. kids today got their own type of show that they like Pokemon is just one off the top of my head. You keep asking kids to like what we like 20 years ago. It doesn't work. Take a look at all American super heroes, Super man, spider man and so on, none of those are still kids shows.
grown woman here! still love PR! these sound like good ideas! esp the reunion episodes. heck they can play around more with PR kids discovering that their parents used to be/still are PRs and have them aspire to be one. seeing all the PR news lately, i need to go rewatch. it's been 2ish years xDD
TV/Streaming movies/specials could work, but the issue is that the Sentai ones are a separate license from the series. The problem with the reunion movies is that the show still films in New Zealand. A lot of the actors live in the US/Canada and it would be expensive to fly them out to NZ. Doing Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder would be especially difficult. For Ninja Storm, both Pua Magasiva (Shane) and Grant McFarland (Lothor/Sensei) have passed away. For Dino Thunder, neither James Napier (Connor) nor Emma Lahana (Kira) want anything to do with the franchise anymore and don't even attend conventions. And, obviously, Jason David Frank passed away as well. If Hasbro does do more reunion specials, they would be better served just doing a mix of whatever Rangers they could get to sign up, rather than doing one specific season.
@@misterrandom3544 It's a little like the same situation as Danny Slavin. He only took the roles as a job until he became a film director. He did, and even won a bunch of awards in New Zealand.
Moving forward Sentai licenses shouldn't be a problem since they are moving into an era of original rangers that aren't going to be relying on Sentai footage.
One idea I’d love to see is the kids of the first generation of power rangers, now grown living up to the legacy of their parents or discovering their parents were once rangers. Eventually becoming rangers themselves
A great idea would be a show for kids, that cast in a PG-13 film a year later, and then getting a teen season a couple years after to option characters into their more adult projects. Get characters that age with the audience.
Here's a fun fact: Peter & Yoshi did a handoff (more like a hug off lol) when Ninja Steel was revealed a couple years back. Kamen Rider & Pretty Cure also adopted this tradition too.
I definitely plan on working for a localization script for a certain Kamen Rider series. The fact that Hasbro is sitting on a goldmine of content they could utilize and money made from toy sales!?! Free open market for writers to make adaptations of the original sentai footage with original scenes due to how advanced technology is
@@agsdragon5475 is more of the idea of whether it would be successful, and it has to do with Toei even giving them the rights, to begin with, Kamen Rider is a weird franchise to try and adapt into American markets, especially with most riders being belt changes there's a high chance that the belts won't even fit them so they can't use them as they would in the show
Honestly, I think they should also try to take inspiration from super sentai's storylines. They're darker and deeper. I know there might be rules on how a children's show should be done in the US, but I mean - they did it in Time Force and RPM! I think that's the reason why Power Rangers may not appeal to some people, the premise appears repetitive for the most part (school, teenagers, alien invaders, and so on.) I love Power Rangers and I'd like it to stay.
Personally, as much as I BEG for this all to be implemented into Power Rangers, I feel that by this point its too late.... Power Rangers producers, as well as the execs for kids shows, seem to just not want Power Rangers to be taken seriously as the great Series it once was. And because of this, they'll never even consider doing any of this. Even with stuff with previous actors, I seriously doubt we can get this with FULL CASTS, seeing as how the previous actors A) don't see Power Rangers as a worthwhile enough thing to return to, or B) are busy with other, better projects. Power Rangers as a whole hasn't done enough to earn the respect that it honestly deserves, due to just how squandered the potential of it has been due to these execs & producers.
@@augustusfreeman4032 ??? No they don't, because unlike here, Super Sentai is actually well-respected & beloved, therefore they get more chances of opportunity with their actors, due to them actually seeing it worth coming back, both financially AND support-wise.
@@TheGloryXros Agreed, and unlike PR, which is the exact opposite. Also, the DekaRanger cast had a press con a few months ago, and they were planning for a 20th anniversary
@@augustusfreeman4032 Compare Power rangers crossover specials with the sentai. At least with the sentai if the actor is busy they still send voice over work, while with Power rangers most of the legendary rangers literally dont say a thing. We literally got Dino thunder BACK in Beast morphers and none of the actors returned💀 Sentai be having crossover movies, crossover specials and even crossover episodes with past sentai and it's rarely just a stunt double with no dubbing.
Crossovers, Kyuuranger had a crossover with Gaven and Dekeranger. There was also a tournament of teams of sentai rangers however they were organized into categorizes bases on their characters or them. Like team swordsman had Red Samurai ranger and Shadow ranger.
I feel the main struggle with having those type of specials simply cause power rangers has actors from all around the world while sentai only gets actors locally so getting actors back for a returns special is a lot more difficult for PR than for sentai
@@arkanamaster4961 They (PR casts) would most likely hide off the radar, to avoid reprising their roles in kid show, with a paycheck equivalent of a McDonald's employee.
So, another big Sentai thing, is Kamen Rider crossovers/battles. Although another Rider show is *unlikely*, just the core rider always has an episode or movie crossover with the current or just-previous team. It would be cool to see a “another kind of power from across the across the multiverse” show up, mysteriously help the rangers after having a quick battle with them earlier in the episode.
I think Hasbro, and Power Rangers needs to get on the video game kick. They’ve had a lot of successful video games in the past and should follow suit. In fact, with all of the different Power Ranger series, cords, powers, weapons, etc. they could quite literally do a CAC game. Just as important as the differences for the player, the similarities are equally is not more important as far as the game mechanics. Wear a player could customize their own weapons, power suit, and swords from a mash up of all of the Power Rangers series.
Let's freaking do an megaforceVsSuper Megaforce special using the Goseiger vs Gokaiger special, in a Movie, and with that, you can make everyone happy about the last 2 seasons mentioned, with a new team of "Super Megaforce Ranger" (with a new team name more appropriate obviously)
Sentai seems more engaged with its audience. PR has to compete with other shows. Being around for 30 years helps. That said, I just don't feel they are as invested in the show as they could be. Its almost always a money issues. Production, actors, marketing, and fan interest. PR needs an engaged upgrade and not just a rebrand. Don't copy and past MCU for the sake of competition.
Those seasons that weren't adapted: ToqGer, ZyuOhger and LupinRanger VS PatRanger, could've worked better as standalone seasons, with no MMPR references, the Morphin Masters whoever they are, and nostalgia exposition dumps.
If i remember correctly, Sentai had power rangers team battle each other or battle different franchises in movies. But dont quote me on that, i am not sure. I would love to see all out zord battle between 2 teams.
one thing that I'd love to see in Power Rangers that we almost saw in Donbrothers and that's a heel turn, we've seen evil rangers turn good and we've seen rangers turn evil but never at their own will, I'd love to see a proper and long running story arc where a ranger turns heel, I'm not 100% certain how they could do a 10 or 20 years later specials because various entities have owned Power Rangers over the years so I'm not certain that actors from the Disney Era could appear in the Hasbro Era, I really don't know, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on that
Hasbro own ALL of Power Rangers: Disney seasons included. Some Disney Era actors came back for Megaforce - godawful as that was - so they are not beholding to some hidden clause from past owners. Hasbro's desire to pay them and the actor's desire to return are the main issues with legacy returns.
I would like a power rangers series based on the comics shattered grid. Also, I would love more cross overs like they did with TMNT and street fighter. Im also surprised they never did a power rangers with a cyber theam. Where they fight in a cyber world protecting the world from deadly computer viruses and cyber attacks. The main Villain could actually just be a regular human thats good with computers and wants to take over the world using the internet. It could be filled with lessons for kids about cyber safety.
@ASdeclassified so in the case of a season 31 or 32 youd want something similar to Turbo: a power rangers movie where they make a movie that introduces the new powers that coincides with the show itself or am i jumping the gun a bit
Honestly they should have more crossovers with different ranger teams instead of one crossover per season Super sentai did crossovers a lot more and it did very well
I don’t know if they can pull off a ninja storm reunion special if two cast members are no longer alive, how does one retcon that? Do they pull a Fast and Furious series where they cast a family member with the closest resemblance to the original actor? Do we just have the art in question imitate life to the most target demographic friendly degree? Cast someone to play their child? Any/all of the above? (like I do with my Fanfiction, writing whenever it concerns Ninja Storm, look up the first two chapters in Excerpt Laboratory to see what I’m talking about) Etc. etc? Your guess is as good as mine.
Ninja Storm is easy because it's a school, technically they don't have to use any of the original actors as they could just bring back the powers and place them on a new group of ninja students but if they wanted to do all of the original actors, they explain the Red Rangers death somehow and choose another Red Ranger, they don't have to retcon anything
speaking of Samurai and Megaforce both had a movie together between their counterparts of Shinkenger vs Goseiger and they introduced a new form for Vrak in that movie and had the red ranger turn on his friends and team with a dark look to super samurai mode that needs to happen same thing with others to that should be copied but that Ninja Storm thing you mentioned of the specials that can’t happen for Ninja Storm since the red ranger actor Pua Magasiva died they need a new actor to play as Shane for that to happen
Sentai fan here, not a huge fan of power rangers but I used to be one. Out of what I remember, power rangers seems to drag it out too much. Sentai works with only having one season per team. Power rangers tries to drag it out longer and give each team 2 seasons. While one could argue that sentai takes itself too seriously, I’d say that power rangers doesn’t take itself serious enough. TLDR I don’t like power rangers because they feel cheap and sentai feels so much better
Bruh, legit my favorite thing to see from Super Sentai is the passing of the torch. I haven’t watched it in a while but it’s always fun to see the next team continue the legacy.
Hmmmm well since they technically did other tokusatsu heroes but without getting sued by why not have it like an East meets West movie war like we have the power rangers we have the squadrants we have the writers we have all the heroes plus some of the actors met their power rangers counterparts in paramorphicon why not do that
ur right about them needing to bring past ranger actors back more often, like they should have brought justin's actor back alot sooner since the last time we saw him was during the in space crossover when he was a kid and now its too late cause hes a adult now
Animated what if's could be neat say and hour special or 13 episode mini series, what if Lord Zedd turned Kimberly evil, what was Alphabet Soups plan in the rpm world, what if Zordon wasn't captured?
They cant really do Ninja Storm special, the red ranger allegedly abused his wife before taking his own life. Side note, love the vid. The positive attitude just makes me want to watch more vids.
Honestly the music. While Dino Fury's does get good sometimes, it still just feels like filler background noise. Let them by dynamic and hell, do insert themes again.
Movie for seasons is also what doctor who does. You really aren't asking for much consideration how much money hasbro has. I have a whole article about if I had a chance to reboot the power rangers brings this up too.
One thing that Hasbro should do their best to copy is Power Rangers "Fill in the Blank season" 10 years after movies. Super Sentai always has a 10 years after movie. Which ends up being incredibly awesome. Haven't seen one yet that has sucked.
The thing of huricanger isn't very doable bcz ninja storm red actor died, and it would be relatively weird to get another actor, unless they pull out an operation overdrive thing, where the Spd green become Red
They have a few different versions of evil-powered rangers in multiple forms dopples, turned rangers, clones, mutations, corrupted-users, dark-users(empowered baddies).. and various just evil 'made' rangers. But there are the SPD - A-team who on their own choose to be evil. They are a part of the newer PW stuff with the darker verse.(a fitting place for reverse flash esq story telling)(also a few times , especially the evil Ninja Rangers whom were just evil in their home dimension(another perfect reverse-flash moment))
Those ideas could've been worked for PR, *IF* they had a goodwill ambassador, and Super Sentai already had theirs, Hiroya Matsumoto (MagiYellow/Beet Buster) since 2017. Too bad, none of the legacy actors and actresses step in, so far. Gee, I wonder why?🤔
Many bad experiences in the series production, many actors said it In Sentai doesn't happen that much(but it actually have happened with some actor like the one from ShinKen red)
@@alexcerzea PR lacked of responsibility for their negligence: Ricardo Medina Jr, Samuell Benta, Rene Naufahu and Austin St John. And the company's not going to clean their heinous acts. Still the legacy actors and actresses aren't willing to blab it out, or in wrestling terms, a shoot/pipe bomb, because that will damage the brand. It's been 30 years, and their cheapness has already been there.
@@MiXVoy I wasn't talking about the legal problems with those actors I was talking about how the cast in general expressed their differences with the production team, about hours of work and their payment Also about being stacked into the character Like Emma Lahana and James Napier which are sick to be related to their characters and being remember by that character instead of all of their career
3:19 Even if they wanted to do a 10 to 20 years later movie they'd have to convince the actors to return for it. I'm not saying none of them would return but if they did do one they'd have to make it a passing down the torch movie, cuz most of the PR actors are either too busy or aren't interested in returning. Like the whole cast of dino fury hadn't returned since their SPD crossover. Unless you want them to be recasted or have their in universe children to take their place then maybe.
3:45 yeeeeeeah about that I don't really think you want a years later ninja storm special given what happened to Pua Magasiva (Shane's Actor) unfortunately that alongside Dino Thunder(unless they want to use an actor as JJ Oliver for the black ranger) or mighty Morphing...very very sad
They could like an anniversary type thing for spd when 2025 rolls around since that's when the show takes place that would be perfect since they already gave a future version the team in the comics and they could definitely use some footage from dekarangers 10 years later movie
Hasbro planned something like that onto the fire squad from Deka Ranger (Jack as a black and red ranger, Sky as the dekaranger, shadow ranger but red XD, and bridge as a red ranger with the shield of the dekaranger 10 year later fire squad) Sadly it was cancelled the idea
I don't want the power rangers to copy the sentai for having almost all its scenes have comedic scenes. I want the power rangers to make it more darker like Kamen rider the first. And I disagree for copying the sentai for having movie each season. Dude, that will be more tiring, it's like you're having a fried chicken every single day to the point you don't want it anymore. Few movies every year will do as long as it's as big as MCU
I hope Power Rangers copy Super Sentai (and honestly any other tokusatsu) by making the music in the episodes OST CD worthy. The lack of passion in the music detracts from watching Power Rangers as someone who watches any other toku show. Acting carries scenes but the music should help to sell scenes.
They're still playing safe by turning the adaptation into an extension of the lore, and avoid taking risks like having a standalone season based on ToqGer, ZyuOhger and LupinRanger VS PatRanger
3 hour TV movies with the older Sentai Concepts (Goranger to Jetman + Dairanger) with updated costumes. The megazord fights can be limited or omitted. I wouldn’t mind a Battle Fever J adaptation where the best of 5 countries comes together.
