The 21st of September saw the sun shine and the coming together of Great Western Sentinel steam locomotive No 12, and two Sentinel steam lorries, an S6 and an S8. The train and lorries set off together for Cholsey to see who would get there first. All three then posed together opposite St Marys Church in Cholsey. Because of the possibility of lineside fires, Guinness 08 Lion was providing most of the power so that No 12 did not pump out a lot of sparks.
No 12 was built in 1926, and the two lorries in 1934.

The grass was very dry along the line so I'm not surprised. The level crossing barriers also failed in the down position after the train I was on passed on its way to Cholsey.

Dave, is that a statement or are you asking a question?
