In predebut, hongjoong was sort of an unofficial leader. For KQ fellaz. When Seonghwa came, there was going to be a vote as to who would actually be leader. Hwa or Joong. Hongjoong thought it was going to be Seonghwa but Seonghwa told the team at KQ that if HJ Wasn’t the leader, there wouldn’t really be a point to be doing what they were doing as a team. Lol the mum and dad Jokes are funny, but let’s not forget how strong this friendship is in ateez. There’s so much trust that they built for each other. So much respect and genuine Care. Not just with each other But with other ateez members too. It’s why they’re so close with each other. They didn’t have much except for each other. There are so many beautiful predebut stories as well.
Not gonna lie, the way Woosan looks so disappointed when seonghwa said ‘I’ll call HJ back’ is hilarious. Like looking at their friend blindly in love and saying this is why he dumped you over and again 😂
In my opinion their awkwardness is because they really like and respect each other alot but they don't know how to Express themselves around each other, it's like they try really hard to impress each other or become closer but they don't know how and I'm saying this from an experience i had with one of my friends, so I really like their moments together and how they care for one another .
I think that's what it is too although I also believe that much of that awkwardness is gone now and what remains is simply from them just being awkward people in general. 😂🥴 But I adore them, so so much. Anyone with eyes can see how much they love each other, and how important they are to one another. And I think over the last couple of years or so especially, we can visibly see that they've gotten even closer and are getting more and more confident with expressing affection for each other. I think now even though they’re still not as vocal about their friendship. There has definitely been a shift in the way they talk about each other publicly. Idk if it’s just me but I noticed Hongjoong being more openly loving in his words about Seonghwa. It’s really nice to see. Also love that Seonghwa created his own space at the studio 😂 I guess he said there’s only one way I’ll be able to see Hongjoong more often and that was it lol.
The way they handle conflict is very mature and smart. Agree in front of the children so that there aren't any "sides", the group stays united and the leader's authority isn't questioned, then discuss it in private. Just like parents should do!

I absolutely love their friendship. Even though they may or seem awkward around each other, they are actually really close friends. It is really nice to see such two people become the closest friends over time. Seonghwa even says he learns from Hongjoong at times, and I'm sure he learns things from Seonghwa as well as their friendship grows, and as an Atiny. I can't wait to see that happen.❤
I think their awkwardness is due to the fact that Hongjoong needs a lot of time to warm up. It's easier for him to get close to the dongsaeng bc he's older and he's supposed to take care of them. The relationship just flows naturally that way. But with Seonghwa they're more on equal footing. Seonghwa is older than him, Seonghwa shares some responsibility in taking care of the group with him and understands the burdens he has as the leader and a producer. Hongjoong is definitely not the type to confess or share his feelings. He's clearly one who process everything alone and overcome things alone. So even though he's very grateful of Seonghwa, I think he finds it hard to voice it out, especially in front of the camera for the whole world to see. In private, I think their interaction will be much more natural. He expresses his feelings through music tho, like in Thank U and I think that's enough indication of how close they are as friends.
At 1:09, the way Swonghwa's voice pitch picks up. He does that a lot when he is being all close with joong. It also happened in that one moment when Seonghwa told joong that he's not doing skinship with him. And honesty that's so adorable ...❤❤
Hongjoong is such a strong human being, mentally, and I admire him so much. I wish I had a Hongjoong in my life. I would fear nothing. He's genuinely such an amazing human being and even tho I'm way older than him I admire his beliefs and mindset and how he goes about life and what he does and how he does it. He's simply incredible. He's very inspiring.
I find Hongjoong very inspiring as well. He's much younger than me but I strive to be more like him. He is strong in areas I need to work on and strengthen in myself. It's easy to give encouraging words to people, even if you don't have that same confidence in yourself. But having that confidence in yourself and not just giving words of encouragement, but also being an example yourself ... that's the kind of thing that makes someone a good leader as well as a good friend. I am a good friend but lack the confidence required to be a good leader.

Track back since they were trainees, Seonghwa has low self-esteem and Hongjoong was the one who he trusted the most, listen to Hongjoong's advice and admire him. Look at Seonghwa now. He become one of the Demon Line in ATEEZ. And as a leader, there'll be pressure and stress, I'm glad that Hongjoong has someone for him to talk with. 5:47 - this means that in a way both seonghwa and hongjoong are co-leading (mom and dad lol) and they're both in an agreement on that. it reminded me of my rehab community that worked with ranges, the highest ranges were called big sisters and they were the leaders of the rest of the community, in charge (next to the staff) of the other patients. we had a rule that if one of us gave an order or called someone out, no other big sister could oppose or disagree in public, we had to talk it out in private afterwards. the point was that we could not overrule one another and had to look like a united front in front of our little sisters, who saw us as their leaders. idk i just think matz doing this says a lot and it warms my heart :)

One of the best friendship and dynamics. They are bestfriends, seonghwa is the oldest and Hongjoong is the leader. Seonghwa is a great support to the leader since he is the oldest, addtional they are friends. So the chemistry, dynamics and compatibility is really great.

Call me strange but to have someone know you so well they can read your mind and know which direction you want to take a conversation, that my folks, is true love, platonic or otherwise ❤

Yeah some of the og translations had slight variations. It could be different interpretations or just that the og sub wasn’t as clear or accurate as I know Salary Lupin specifically has kind of wonky subs. Same with the Weekly Idol scene I know I’ve seen like 3 other versions of that one 😂
