Let's not forget Vergil's greatest feat, when Vergil hired Vergil's brother and Vergil's son to defeat Vergil so that Vergil could become Vergil in a game featuring Vergil.
No matter the outcome of this fight, there's one thing no one can take away from Vergil. He's the only boss character who instead of getting nerfed when you can play him, he gets stronger
This was before DMC5 though, and honestly I'd love to see it again. With the new level of scaling and ESPECIALLY sin devil trigger and doppelganger, I think Vergil could take it.
But there’s also Sephiroth who has more feats now thanks to Remake. Especially considering the fact that, spoilers for Remake, he’s essentially transcended time in a way, at the very least being aware of other timelines.
@@ang1759 That doesn't actually tell us very much in regards to any new abilities he can employ during battle, though....but it *does* tell us that even if Vergil is actually stronger in a one on one fight now, it's unlikely that Sephiroth would actually die and remain that way...even if Virgil were to split him off from the planet and fight him in a dimension of his choosing.
Yes, but strength doesn't scale in a linear fashion. Sephiroth's strength might be only 3.5 times that of Zack, but he could hit that dragon hundreds of times harder.
At a guess, he's 3.5 times stronger than post Sephiroth-goes-ape Zack. Though honestly, it makes me hope we get to play as Sephiroth in Final Fantasy 7-3.
Yeah, if we compare their damage output, Sephiroth in his human form during the flashback does about 3000-3500 damage I believe, while Cloud/Zack does about 90 I think? So the stat number usage is kinda silly. This would put Sephiroth at closer to 35 times stronger.
The funniest thing about this fight to me, is that Sephiroth's Japanese voice actor, Toshiyuki Morikawa, is also the Japanese voice of Dante. So this was basically Dante vs Vergil again.
Either way I don’t believe Vergil “not cutting the rocket launcher” is an anti-feat. Yamato slices dimensions like butter so cutting a normal rocket launcher should be child’s play. Either he was holding back or that Rocket Launcher was on steroids
@@shinobukoko204 Lady buckles under the weight of his blow. He was definitely trying to kill her. If his sword was sharp enough to cut through that rocket launcher, it should have done so at that point. Not to mention that there is no such thing as "sharp enough to cut through dimensions". That's like having a bullet that can pierce time, or a hammer that can dent emotion. It's a magical property of the sword. There are plenty of instances where Yamato's supposed ability to cut through anything would have DRASTICALLY changed the plot of DMC. The characters don't act like it can cut through anything. The most we see it do is open a portal that allows Vergil to teleport a short distance. In DMC 5, he makes a portal after ripping Nero's arm off. His destination is his old house, but he can only manage to teleport part way there. Vergil has also been trapped in the Demon World (twice now) and Yamato doesn't get him out of either of those instances. The first time, he admits that he is trapped (at the end of DMC3) and the second time, Nero says he won't be able to come back to which neither Dante or Vergil disagree. So yeah, the swords capabilities are heavily exaggerated (on top of being wanked by DMC fans).
@@theodorehunter4765 He was hardly paying any mind at all, why would he want to kill her other than for getting in the way? His attention was fixed on Dante for most of the fight. He didn't even view Lady as an actual threat hence he talks to her so casually without any tone of seriousness; Yamato has also cut through far more durable material, even without it's "dimension-cutting" ability. With Yamato, it's not an ordinary katana, or just a really strong sword unlike bullets and stuff. There's nothing outlandish about it being able to slice through dimensions, it doesn't do so for being sharp. It does that simply because it's a part of its ability as a demonic weapon. Several of its moves cut through time and space, Vergil's Judgement Cut End literally stops time until he sheathes his sword again. I don't actually think his sword can cut through *everything* (Because he can't cut Dante or Nero's swords.) But I do think it's capable of cutting through space-time and dimensions. As for being trapped Demon Realm they had to take out the Qilphoth to prevent it from spreading. I understand your point and all, but Yamato was also used twice to separate the connection from the Mortal and Demon World (Sparda used it to seal himself and his power in the demon world and Dante and Vergil used the sword the sever the Qilphoth roots.) Yamato's ability of cutting everything is exaggerated, but not *over*exaggerated and should definitely be cutting at least dimensions as it's presumed to.

pretty sure that's just for dramatic effect. nothing really stops sephiroth from not breaking the illusion at all and let him get hit by supernova while he still think he's walking around some ruins.
@@willmakeyouloveagain I can understand that. Removing a character from a full illusion (especially from seph) is a hard sell. I could equally see an argument that even in an illusion if he’s physically still moving then walking through a portal (a multi dimensional one at that) could remove him from harm. I could be swayed to your side either way. My final question though would be how could in their recent death battle was Cloud able to take super nova to the face and live ( they used this as a feat) and not Vergil.
@@taylorwalker7282 Well, we watched Cloud actually, y'know, endure Sephiroth's supernova in canon. Regardless of how the attack *truly* works, we know Cloud can live through it. We do not have a sure fire way of knowing if Vergil could do the same.
If this would be remaked, Vergil could split himself into V and the Demons, which could make a difference, but mostly would Wiz and Boomstick have more Data of Vergil.
They've already bent alot of facts from Vergil to make it look like Sephiroth has any chance 🤷 Deathbattle had always been biased. The way they computed Zack's force in cutting steel but didn't compute the actual strength needed to endure going through and cutting dimensions. And even called a sacred weapon an ordinary canon is just 😂

Once the FF7 remake is done and we see full force Sephy again, it'll be fun to do a rematch. To me, outside of the original FF7, every time some form of Sephy fights it just looks like he can't be bothered and his body is just reacting not fighting.
@@erronblack8266 thats the final form i was mentioning lmfao if he woulda went into that, then dropped supernova, ggwp he just tanked his own spell and nuked the solar system for fun
So according to the newly released FFVII Rebirth Ultimania, Tetsuya Nomura has stated that the final Sephiroth battles involving Cloud, his party and Zack are all taking place simultaneously across different timelines Sephiroth is a singularity now, along the lines of Solaris from Sonic 06
It's because Death Battle likes to make certain characters win, so they nerf the other character for the fight. It's the reason why Death Battle isn't a good source for actual scaling. I just watch it because the fights are enjoyable.
@@Guccipoooch well does it matter... As long as the song fits to the character it doesn't matter if the song is not for him. Well on the other hand the one winged angel doesn't fits for Vergil and that's too bad.
So, Ever Crisis just gave Young Sephiroth impressive feats to pile on the ones he already has. From just his intro cutscene alone, he took down an entire platoon of armed soldiers in an instant. You don't even see him actually move his arm, he just slices an RPG in mid-flight and took down his enemies before his team even realized what happened, while also slicing their armored vehicles in half within that same window without being near them. And in this time period, he doesn't even have the Masamune and its blade is significantly much shorter in length. His magic is still potent enough to the point where he can also destroy an entire backup squad and their armored vehicles with just a single Firaga spell and raze an entire forest to the ground in the process. And Sephiroth's team? They're all SOLDIER too
Uh that was just a simple fire spell.... If it was firaga there should be two small fireballs orbiting the fireball on sephiroth's hand..... And also young sephiroth shows that octoslash is the og of vergil's ultimate attack judgement cut end
Crisis Core is amazing and has loads of trivia with the emails you receive. There's also a rather...interesting email Zack gets from a friend that is hilariously brushed under the rug. Would love for it to be elaborated on one of these days. They actually mention said friend in Remake, Kunsel.
Fun fact: The Yamato is said not only to be able to open portals between dimensions, but also separate man from devil. Sparda used it to separate the human and demon worlds.
Wrong fact dude...... Yamato can only open portals to hell when the opened portal is on the demons gate, if used to open portals without the demons gate, it just create a gate within point A to point B in the same realm.... To bad yamato's ability to separate human and demon is not effective against sephiroth, since sephiroth is not human demon hybrid but human alien (lovecraftian god) hybrid.....
I kind of want a rematch with today's current Vergil. Not because I think the analysis was wrong, just interested if that would make a difference. Plus it'd look awesome with the devil trigger!
@Nefal Kartal If the Remake is anything to go by, Sephiroth would be defeated 3 times by Cloud then. 2 of the same timeline and the 3rd one being a “fresh” Cloud.

@@justsomedude7900 Yeah isn't that form called safer sephiroth? I'm not exactly too familiar with the one wing form. But still Sephiroth did change into his stronger form first.
This definitely needs a Part 2 to the fight. Although I wonder how long Virgil can slice Sephiroth's ass until he has to either sheath his sword or stop due to arm tiredness. Because I kinda picture him attacking continuously longer than that to off a overpowered being.
The comments back then: “This is just unfair, Vergil is universal or at least a multi solar system buster while Sephiroth only destroyed a good chunk of a solar system. We know that Vergil is universal since Dante beat Mundus, a person who created a universe and is a god and Dante is equal to Vergil therefore Vergil is universal ” Comments now: “hehehe funny memes”
Very good fictional comparison, and I'd agree up until this point in both these franchises (OG + AC + CC Sephiroth v DMC3 Vergil). However, I think another rematch would be fun as hell once (and if) we see their final peak forms and powers when both DMC and FF7 series' ends.
I would so like to see this done with the current up-to-date versions of these Sword Weebs. I personally think they'd have to end in a stalemate of some sort for the sake of either of them not shattering space and time as all the multiverses know it.

That's nothing compared to Galactus who feeds on stuff like dying stars and planets every day
@@ikeillue8385 This fight was (somewhat) close even with them underselling Vergil significantly. Hell, Liam has said that Vergils regeneration is hundreds of times stronger than this video says it is (he used an example where Vergil was completely atomized and still regenerated from his spirit, somehow). So in a rematch where Vergil has DMC5 buffs and scaling, and isn't undersold, he would almost certainly win.
@@redraven123 It really wasn't close though. Not only did they massively undersell Sephiroth's speed, but the difference between Sephiroth (at least supernova level, if not massively higher), and Vergil (continent level, being massively generous), is not a small difference. Frankly, there is nothing in DMC 5 that indicates that the scaling increases anywhere near enough to reach Sephiroth's level of power. Side note, even if we use a no limits fallacy and assumed that Vergil's regeneration was unbeatable, Sephiroth has ways around it, such as break petrifying him, Pale Horse turning him into a frog, possibly heartless angel bringing him as close to within an inch of death, and thats not including the fact that Sephiroth is empowered by lifestream, so he should have access to all the powers of materia beyond the skills I mentioned, so we would have things like stop, death, confuse, ETC.

As much as I love Devil May Cry and know how busted Vergil is, I knew there's no way he could win. Sephiroth didn't even need to use his strongest attack, though it would have ended the fight in literally two hits. (I'm referring to the one that sets the entire party to 1 HP. If used it would cause the show to be incredibly boring as the fight would end in like... 12 seconds.)
@@TheLostZoro872 lol 9d scans are fake and fabricated lol dmc is just a 4d fodder verse lol meanwhile remake and rebirth are 12d via mtheory and string theory lol

Ffvii rebirth sephiroth is overkill..... Vergil can't inflict damage to sephiroth since in rebirth you have to attack all of his existence beyond worlds at the same time.... Sephiroth can't be beaten alone now since he is a living singularity
Sorry about the incoming rant...... tbh they nerfed vergil way harder than sephiroth in this video, sephiroth somehow has access to all the mako energy from the ff7 finale to do his attacks, but vergil isnt equipped with his melee weapons or his dads 2nd sword but for one or two flashy sequences not taking into account their abilities or powers. PLUS how did vergil not even teleport out of the final attack if his sword is able to cut SPACE AND TIME in the first place
Then they should use a stronger version of Sephiroth, just to be fair. Dissidia Sephiroth's Super Nova is "a blast of such despair that it sends destruction even into other dimensions" as per what it says in the menu description.
He doesnt even fight like this in game. The whole concentration meter is meant to keep you from getting hit, by learning your enemy till you know there moves even better then they do. Vergil would have calculated everything sephiroth did.
Who returned to this after seeing Sephiroth in Smash Bros Ultimate? EDIT: WOAH! 1.7K likes!? I guess that means a good amount of you have returned because of it. Well, let’s enjoy playing as him
