Why were you calling the dogs away in that beautiful interaction with the otter. All your other videos are with otters it dont make sense, no wonder the comments were turned off, near every human being on the planet would of embraced that!

Because they're wild animals and can be quite ferocious?

Because not everyone is as loving and kind as some humans strive to be - we are talking about animals here, and in that situation, dogs are predators and otters are prey. It's a blessing that these dogs were not interested in killing the otters but a lack of interest shouldn't be expected. He acted accordingly; when he was not sure if the interaction was about to take a turn for the worse, he didn't risk it - instead, he called them back.

@@3me0 Not to pick a fight on YT comment section, but your interpretation of the predator-prey relationship between species and individual animals is wrong and backwards. Wild sea otters are not prey to dogs in any scenario. Moreover, I'm pretty sure state/municipality laws prohibit unleashed dogs harassing wild animals,AND sea otters are an endangered species, so there are probably at least four code violations occurring. Next, otters as a species are a keystone apex predator in estuaries, and shoreline habitats. This otter was probably used to patrolling that marina and interacting with humans and pets. But an adult sea otter is not prey to dogs, that otter could easily handle those two pet dogs who have no sense of danger, or how to kill anything. There are reasons why otters are called water wolves and its not because they play cute

wanted to comment on your labs playing with otter videos but couldn't. i wouldn't say they playing as much as trying to figure each other out. it plays out as a best case scenario first contact situation. two species met for the first time and are curious about each other. the otter demonstrated a huge amount of trust exposing its belly to potential predators. i also found it very interesting they were both interested in their corresponding scent glands.

Dear Robert, would it be possible to get in touch with you to discuss using your fantastic "Labs and Otter" videos in an entertainment production? (i.e. via email) Best regards!

Man, in your 2017 video, your dogs do not listen to you at all! Lol. Calling their names over and over with no result actually became irritating. Thanks for uploading some otter videos anyway.

I'm sure that's the reason the comments were disabled. It was such an interesting, funny interaction between the dogs and otter, but the constant ignored commands became difficult to watch. Either let them play (my preference!) or make them follow their command... singular command. If dogs don't listen they shouldn't be off-leash.
