We managed to get a float done in our WaterMasters from Mckinnon to Carseland. We were fully assembled and in our boats by 830am. It took us a bit longer to get ready as we had to put our new anchors on. It was about a 9 to 10 hour float. ONLY RAINBOWS this trip for me. I think Karl had a few different species of fish on this day. It was an excellent trip. New PB for number of fish landed/in the net in a single day on the Bow.
Bought my flies ‪@outflyfishingoutfittersfly5074‬ and Fish Tales in Calgary.

Have you tried Fish Creek to Mckinnon? I think its crazy you did that leg in 10H! I figured it that long from FC to Carseland. I hope to take my kid this way. I've a 13' NRS fishing rig. We typically do upper bow.

Yes, have done FC to Mckinnon a few times. That is a great leg too! And I was going to do a video like this one on it but my vehicle got broken into at mckinnon so I wasn't in the mood to edit all the raw footage after that float. It is a great stretch though. For the 10H from mck to carsl you can definitely do it quicker but we intentionally stop to fish holes all the time. For example when I do FC to policemans, that's a 2.5 hour float but some days I take 12 hours and hook into 40 fish taking my time at all the major holes. Same with glenmore to FC. That is a 4 hour float and some days I'll do it in 16 hours and hook into 50.

Looks like a great day for you both. How long did the float take?

Hey Victor, thanks for watching. I think it took us about 9 to 9.5 hours ish. That's including fishing from shore occasionally along the way.

Awesome videos!! I’m super new to fly fishing and hoping I can float along bow river next year! Are you fishing at the bottom? With an indicator?

Glad youve been enjoying them. Yeah just documenting my trips. Its fun. As for water levels, its back to its normal levels i think. It's pretty clear. Winter is coming though. 😭

@@dankimflyfishinghey Dan, hope you’re doing well, I’ve had plenty of trips this year ( glenmore to policeman, McKinnon flats to carsland, but idk if it’s my bad luck or not but I can’t catch a fish like you do :( I’ve tried streamers and nymphing but in your videos it looks like you’re euro nymphing almost all the time is that correct? Just wanna hear some tips from someone who’s more experienced…

@SK-cc7mq yes for sure, pretty much exclusively tight line nymphing. The main tip is you have to get your rig down deeper in the bow. But also to figure out where they are holding. When I'm not floating and just fishing from shore on the bow, i really try to figure out the water they are holding in. Then when I decide to float I usually catch fish in similar type of water. This day in particular was super productive, not sure why. Normally I'm landing 15 to 20 ish on regular full days in the boat (so a lot less than in this video).

Hey Peter, thanks for watching and commenting. I used a variety of standard worms (chenille bodies, squirmy bodies, wired bodies). I dont tie my own flies yet but plan to this winter. Just ask at the local shops whats working. Fish Tales and Out Fly Fishing are super helpful because they're out guiding everyday and I happen to be close by. That's how I pick my worms to use. Most importantly as with all fishing, trial and error.
