Taking a Woods BK-7500 boom cylinder apart to rebuild. After the first minute you can go to 4 minutes. That is where I get the nut to start coming off. You have to put pressure on the end of the cylinder to get the nut to spin off.

Thanks for posting the video. An easier and faster way to remove the spanner nut is to clean it well and soak it down with penetrating oil. Let it soak while still on the backhoe attached to a tractor. Start the tractor engine and pressurize the rod guide/spanner nut end with the appropriate hydraulic control. The hydraulic pressure on the male threaded rod guide end will immobilizes it. No vice crushing force is needed that could distort the hydraulic cylinder. Use a good quality spanner nut wrench and tap the wrench with a hammer. Once the spanner nut is removed disconnect both hydraulic lines to relieve the pressure, tap the rod guide in with a punch, remove the snap ring and pull the rod and piston assembly out of the hydraulic cylinder that is still attached to the backhoe.

Hey Pete, thanks for the video. I was having trouble removing the lock-ring(locknut) on my Woods backhoe stabilizer cylinder until I saw your video, I followed your lead by clamping the cylinder close to the collar and tilting it at a 45 degree angle and hit the lock-ring(locknut) a few time and it started to come loose. I cleaned the threads up, installed new seals, put the cylinder back together and I am back in business. Again, thanks Pete.

Pete - Thanks so much for the video just picked up an old 7500 and was starting to install the seal kit and spent a long time with the collar spinning, clamped up just as you have it and came right off - life saver.

This was my second go around with your vid - THANKS ! Don't think I'd have ever figured out the disassembly process without finding this. Found it about a year ago doing the boom cyl. on my Woods hoe. Needed to do one of the stabilizers this week, had forgotten all about the clamping process

I did the same thing, was about to give up. Clamped it to just hold the thing. Found out that was what it needed. I started to not do the video. But on the second cylinder rebuild. Felt it may help out others. Thanks for watching.

Thank God Pete I found your video! It's highly unlikely I would have ever figured out how to get this cylinder apart... same with John Deere cylinders. Seems to be unusually complicated to disassemble and I'm sure it was by design. Came apart just fine and the cause of the leak was obvious. I really appreciate you taking the time to publish this video. It saved me tons of money since I have several more leaky cylinders to fix.

Your welcome, its hard to find info on these. Just did 3 of the 4 on my Bushhog 2446QT loader also. Should have done a video on those. Have one more will do one on it.

Hi Pete. I know where you are coming from bud. I rebuild a few cylinders myself. I don't like the ones that a that wire clip that holds the gland in. Sometimes it's hard to get it started to get it to roll out. Great video

Sad part, I now have 3 more to rebuilt. But my loader is 22 years old. And this will be the last ones on it.

My Woods dealer got it the second try. Mine has the bigger rods then the normal ones. I had to go by the SN of the unit. Even though I give the part Number to the parts guy. He still ordered the wrong kit. He had to call Woods they told him I had the right part Number.

Would you have an easier time spinning the spanner nut off by leaving the cylinder on the backhoe, and loosen the spanner nut there? No trolling, serious question.
@Pete-from-Tn
@Pete-from-Tn 9 месяцев назад
Yes and no. Most I do leave hooked up. But that does not work on these. AS you have to put pressure on the end of the tube. That's what releases that part. Dumb way to build these, but they did it this way.

That is the worst design. All the others are threaded on the cylinder it self
