Just follow your heart. When you feel it's time to leave home, leave home. When your heart says go back home, go back home. I've experienced living in the city, and living in the countryside. I love both lifestyles. _Pros and cons._ Good luck on your training, Shika! 明日頑張ってね!😁🤙

I love these videos. You are so candid and likeable! I think it is human nature to second guess our biggest decisions. Instead I like to be confident that past me made the best decision with the information he had at hand, and that present me is on the path he is meant to be on. Enjoy your trip!

We live in the suburbs and can go into town when it's convenient but also walk on The South Downs which are beautiful and the dogs love them . Well I guess I'm not much help but I hope the training goes well and you are happy with the life you choose . It does sound to me as though you could write a story about how both choices would work out and maybe people would like to read it .

I recently moved back to my home country after 12 years of living in Japan and I can definitely empathize. It's nice being with my family again, but every day I think about how nice it was in Japan. I spent my early adult life there and it feels like home and I'm away from it. I don't know about your situation, but I recommend applying to foreign companies where you can use your English skills (your skills are enough, don't tell yourself otherwise-let the companies decide that. don't dismiss yourself).

Shika-san, you are truly remarkable. I feel your struggles with deciding your future. You are doing great! You are young and have lots of time. Take it slowly, continue to ponder the variables of your future; one day at a time. I lived in the Tokyo area for 15 years. I am adaptable and was fine in Tokyo. Then I moved to the Southern prefecture on a tropical island with beautiful sun rises and the most beautiful sunsets. Life couldn't be better. Low stress, low blood presure, simple life and enjoying life to the fullest. I don't miss the traffic, I don't miss the crowds; I prefer the country. I didn't have a choice to come to Japan, my employer directed me at a very young age, but life has been great! Almost 40 years later, I will stay here forever! I hope to see you smile more and that which ever path you choose, that you will be happy and fufilled. Take care.

Choices in life can make one have fomo, fear of missing out. But choosing what gives one peace and harmony rather than stress and get stuck in the rat race can be a far better option which ultimately gives you a healthier mind, body and spirit. If the opportunity rises and you create it, you can always choose to live at one place for some years then return to the more quiet places when you feel ready for it or vice versa.

I am like you. Currently, I live in a small city, but I also want to experience a different life in a big city. (like Tokyo 例えば). I just think we can do it gradually, not like going to Tokyo and start over from scratch. I believe whatever we do right now will easier our way to move to a new place, like Tokyo, later on.

I’ve always preferred living in rural areas but that’s just probably due to my personality. I’m pretty laid back so country life suits me. I find cities to be too crowded, fast paced and sometimes soulless at times. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy visiting the city but it’s just too much for me to live in one if I can help it.

I spent the majority of my childhood living in a small, rural town in the eastern part of the State of Texas, where it is mostly flatlands and thick forests. When I was a kid, I remember dreaming about all of the different places I could see and experience when I was older. Every other place seemed so far out of reach for me at the time, that in my mind they may as well have been different worlds. By the time I was graduating college, I had the strongest desire to go anywhere except the places with which I was most familiar. Ironically, as time has passed and I've seen more of the world, one of the places I dream about going to now is back to the forests of my youth... I think it's funny how we can run around looking for something that we've always had. 🙃 I recently watched a video presentation of a scientist who specializes in the psychology of regret, and he concluded his presentation with something to the effect of, "just go ahead and do what you want to do in life, because you are going to end up regretting your choice either way." So, according to a professional, we are damned if we do and damned if we don't. 😅 Though perhaps that was just his roundabout way of saying, "enjoy the ride."

Me and my wife currently live in Yokohama but are considering to move back to her hometown in Nagano! Tokyo life is fun and exciting, but I think after some years you get a bit tired of it and we are yearning for more space, healthier air, and cooler summers! Also we want to build a house but that is impossible in Tokyo unless you already have the land... It's definitely great to try it out whilst you are young so that you don't regret later in your life never trying (although you said you spent time there in university) What prefecture are you from? My guess is Fukushima!

I live in a big city, but in a suburban area. If I lived in Japan, I might choose to live in the country, though. You said you have easy access to Tokyo, and that's one thing I like about Japan. Take the train to the city when you want to do the city stuff, but live in the quiet, more peaceful countryside. You said you're average, without any skills, but the good news is that you can learn skills. You're doing it now, learning English, which will open up more opportunities for you. And you don't have to live in a city to learn things or grow. But you've lived in both the city and the country, so you know what both are like. You have choices, and you have goals, and you'll make new goals, too. You'll figure it out. Thank you for sharing. I hope you have fun at your friend's home!

Take time and see what lifestyle is best for yourself. I think a quaint lifestyle in the countryside can maybe be a bit more fulfilling to some compared to a city lifestyle. In my opinion, as a person living near a major city, often find myself wondering if I should move away from the city (too much traffic and costs!) so your thoughts and feelings are very relatable. Many pros and cons to either lifestyle but I hope you can keep experiencing and find out what works best. I do hope your trip to Tokyo is both safe and eventful. Your English sounds good so keep at it! Good luck with your company training.

I am old now and nearer the end of life than the start of it. Where you live depends on how ambitious you are. Do you want to be happy and try and live without worrying about a future you can't control. Or are you going to be happier in a huge City surrounded by people but know none of them. Personally the hardest thing is to try and find happiness for you. At the end of the day you have to be happy. If then means work then fine. But it may also mean just finding yourself. It is hard work without profit. But you may feel happier in the long run. You have time to make the right decision for you.

You said that you are not a skilled person. Maybe you are wrong. Your English pronunciation is very, very good. Considering that Tokyo is a cosmopolitan city, maybe you can highlight your skill. It is not common for a Japanese person to speak English as well as you (even academics and politicians do not have pronunciation as good as yours, congratulations on that!) ... The perfect place for me is to live somewhere between a big city and the countryside. I live in Brazil in a city called Campinas. The city fits this pattern I mentioned. It is a city in the countryside, but it is close to São Paulo. In general, living in the countryside is better than living in a big city. The problem is that it is difficult to find a good job. My life is peaceful here and when I need to go to São Paulo, it is only an hour away by car or bus.

Great video!! I think like the lovely song says; "Count what you have" 😄 Definitely a very normal thing to dream about. I think you made a good decision. Especially if you want to have children/family. The "rat race" of living in big city has very slim margins for error, and it is much easier to build up a strong foundation to build your life on in the countryside. I think our parents leave us to make our own decisions so that we learn from our mistakes. I know that I can earn more money in London than working elsewhere, however as you mentioned the cost of living is higher in the city. I decided to work in the countryside to have less financial pressure, not having to work longer hours and so that I can be a happier person. A better life for me as an individual. I think it’s important do do what’s best for your self and not put pressure on yourself to follow others.

I think we always think the grass is greener on the other side. I live in a city pretty close to Vancouver, Canada and I dream of living in the countryside. For me, being in the city is too busy, too busy-minded, too much stress. And I like being out in nature. But here there are no jobs in the countryside. I hope one day to have enough money saved up in investments that I can live off of it out in the country. Maybe if I can eventually buy a couple small businesses or some real estate I can rent out, I can then live most of my time out in nature. But idk if I’ll ever have that much money saved up, it feels like a never ending race. The thought of retiring seems like a carrot on a stick, I’ll probably die working 😅

Pursuing your dream in a big city reminds me of E.B. White on New York "On any person who desires such queer prizes, New York will bestow the gift of loneliness and the gift of privacy. It is this largess that accounts for the presence within the city’s walls of a considerable section of the population; for the residents of Manhattan are to a large extent strangers who have pulled up stakes somewhere and come to town, seeking sanctuary or fulfillment or some greater or lesser grail. The capacity to make such dubious gifts is a mysterious quality of New York. It can destroy an individual, or it can fulfill him, depending a good deal on luck. No one should come to New York to live unless he is willing to be lucky." "But the city makes up for its hazards and its deficiencies by supplying its citizens with massive doses of a supplementary vitamin - the sense of belonging to something unique, cosmopolitan and unparalleled."

Howdy! Personally, I'm not a big city kind of guy. The town I live in has about 70,000 people. That's about as much as I can tolerate I think. People in big cities seem to live at a much faster pace than I like. But what I think you need to consider is the cost as well as the benefits of living in a city like Tokyo. While there may be many benefits to living there, what are the costs? I don't just mean in terms of money, although it definitely sounds more expensive. Think of the social costs. For example, my understanding of work culture in Japan is that it's pretty brutal with very long hours and very little personal time. It might help to put these costs and benefits down on paper to help weigh things accordingly. I wish you all the best in your pursuits, whatever they may be. Good night, and sleep well! Work hard but be sure to enjoy yourself while you're in Tokyo.

もしかしたらシカさん東京へ仕事欲しければ、そなの心配しないでください。シカさんの英語ペラペラいます。日本の人口の中であなたはトップ0.01%に入りますよ。探して大丈夫ですよ。 Have you maybe thought about if you want to work in tourism? It will help improve your English as well. And for costs, if you want you can live in Saitama and work in Tokyo. Just throwing ideas out there. Although a competing work culture is not what a company should encourage for its employees. It will bring an incredibly hostile work environment.

I live in a big city and i always wanted to live in the countryside. Life is much more peaceful there, i love nature trees, fields, in the city there's nothing like this, only noise, trouble, crimes, pollution.

Many cities have green space, and a lower crime rate than the surrounding suburban and rural towns despite how the media presents it. Tokyo especially has a very low crime rate.
