Friends! What were your favourite songs from September? And what comeback(s) are you anticipating the most in October? 👀 Also, since I know most of you skip the intro lol, just wanted to point your attention to it this time as well as some of the resources in the description since I talk about Truth and Reconciliation Day, an important day here in Canada! Thanks all and have the best October!!! ❤
I’m not Canadian myself but I have a lot of respect for you to use your platform to spread awareness for people who have been disenfranchised in your country. I’m somewhat aware of the problems indigenous people in Canada face but I will definitely be reading this article to learn more!
Thank you for taking the time to read the article ❤️ I know it’s a difficult read, but Indigenous Peoples in Canada continue to feel the effects of intergenerational trauma caused by residential schools, and part of creating a space for healing involves education and confronting what happened
Thank you so much for reacting to Yuqi's song! I really can't get it out of my head. Such a good single. Something you should consider for the october comeback catchup is Jennie's new single "Mantra". It comes out this friday. It's her first official solo comeback since 2018, so I'm super excited to listen to it
You missed "My name is Malgeum" by QWER. Even if you are not into the group, the song was written, composed and directed by Soyeon. She even produced the MV. In an interview near the start of the year she said that they were the group she was listening to currently, and in the video QWER or up of the behind the scenes of recording the song, Soyeon said that their cover of "Fate" was part of why it did so well. That behind the scenes is worth checking too if you have the time - Soyeon being amazing again 😊
NA has actually grown on me a lot. But I completely agree that it just really feels like a PSY song. I think she definitely makes it her own, but that chorus just screams PSY. It’s the same structure as how he made Gentleman and Gangnam Style. There’s a build up, a pause, and then a rhythmic phrase over a catch beat, followed by a drawn out vocalization. The “oh ready set here I go” immediately made me think “heyyy sexy lady”. 😂 I was actually worried about how her sound would change when she signed with PNation. Cause Hwasa has always had a unique sound to her songs and they always seemed to have some substance. I think she still has creative control in the end, but it seems like the label pushes her sound in their own direction if that makes sense. I’m ok with artists changing and adapting as they get older and trends change. But it doesn’t feel so much like a natural evolution of Hwasa’s discography as much as it feels like Hwasa just adapting PSY’s sound. They’re still great songs and I love Hwasa no matter what, but as a fan it bums me out a little bit cause I feel like there’s apart of Hwasa we aren’t really getting since she switched labels.
11:58 I think you hit the nail on the head. I feel like this song is an ode to each other. Of course it can be interpreted in different ways and anyone can relate to it
