You guys are best in class. I am not 100% sure if we're a full overlap on game enjoyment, but that doesn't even matter...just how EACH of you talks about games, and give each other the SPACE to talk about games, is incredible. Best in class.

Love Mindclash games. This was an instant back for me. This feels easier to teach than some of their heavier games and may find the table more often. They always have a nice heavy theme and interesting mechanisms. Very nice looking, Thanks for the wonderful close ups of the board. It really pops when you get those wonderful close ups.
Waaaaaaaaay easier to teach than any of their others! It's a really wonderful mid-weight game that feels crunchy enough and dripping with theme. Thank you for your feedback about the close ups, we've been working on improving our camera work so that means a lot. ☺

Excellent review. Hadn't realised this was Mindclash, and while a lot of their heavier games appeal, this might be one I can actually find people to play with. Same with Bot Factory, now I think about it.

Maggie, I wonder if you also like the way you pick your starting resources in Teotihuacan? I also wish that happened more often. It's somewhat similar in how you puzzle out the configuration because that determines where your workers start, choosing only 3 out of the 4 possible spots.

This is the first crowdfunding campaign I’ve ever gotten involved with. I can’t imagine not getting the deluxe version for this game! It’s stunning and the integration of theme and mechanics I think works really well.
I was already anticipating this game, but you two just put it over the top. My wife is going to flip when this arrives. I hope I can keep it secret until then.
Great review. Watching these two always puts a smile on my face. If you add Thinker+Themer and a cup of joe……I’m ready to start my day. I was on the fence about this game but I think your review tipped me over the edge to back it. I am also backing the card game Pagan: Fate of Roanoke…….so I guess I will be “witching it up” in the near future.

Aww, thank you so much. I have to say (amy here), it still makes me smile everytime I say it as well. I think that Septima is a great mid-weight game, in a beautifully thematic package. It feels like an all-rounder - a game that would satisfy most gamers. A lot of our games in that category tend to be worker placement (Viticulture, Architects of the West Kingdom) so for me it's a nice alternative to those. Whether or not you need more of those in your collection is up to you... we have a lot of "new" gamers in our lives. Perhaps we will cross paths at a convention in the future! Do you have any planned? :)

Ah, thanks for noticing James! We've been working hard to try to improve our camera skills. We have a new light in the new room which helps, and Maggie has been tinkering with more angles and video for the game components. I'm glad it made a difference. Thank you! :) I saw this game first on the BGG hotness list and was intrigued when I saw it was advertised as a game with positive player interaction. From your overview I could see that the player can benefit from each other by selecting the same action. Sounds great. The only thing is when your suspicion track is already on a high point, another player could actually on purpose try to guess your next action to trouble you. Did that happen in some of your games?
That's exactly right!! We didn't ever purposely change our action to match with another player (to increase their suspicion)... your actions feel so limited in number that it probably wouldn't be worth it. It does say in the rules that you can negotiate with your opponents in a kind of semi-coop capacity but we never did that either. Matching with Septima gives you a nice planning-for-matching option. With a beautiful game like this, with linen finish cards that look like modern Tarot designs, it's such a difficult decision whether to sleeve the cards or not. I'm paranoid of someone damaging a card from a kickstarter that is essentially irreplaceable, but they take away from the tactile experience of gently handling the cards in that deliberately reverent way like the aforementioned Tarot deck. 🤷
It looks great, but for some reason it's just not clicking with me, so I'm gonna be passing on this one. For this month Skyrise is taking my money. Thanks for the review, it helped me to make up my mind on it.

I assume the matching (and suspicion) is mandatory even if by accident? Also, is the Rites board easier to use with 3 or 4 players? I would think those matches would be slightly easier with more opportunities.
Hi Darrell... yes that's right that matching/suspicion is mandatory (although taking the secondary action it enables is not [but most of the time you would if you could]). We played mostly at a higher player count and still found the Rites board challenging. The side paths are easier as they have blanks that help you move upwards, but often you will go through the centre to try to achieve an objective (that requires you to be on a certain part of the Rites track) or to grab a wild resource crystal/gem. Hope that helps!
@@ThinkerThemer You're not the first reviewers to speak ill of the Rites board. Hopefully, they develop that a little bit more. I think I would play without it, and use the smaller expansions of Omens and Shapeshifting, although probably not first time out, since you say it alters the game significantly.

No you can keep playing but you'll have no special abilities and won't be able to score any of your book of divinations (end game objectives) if you don't work on getting them back!
A bit much for what? You aren't obligated to watch them all, and lots of options means people can find the preview style that works for them. I'm always baffled by any and all 'Too much content!' comments.
