Turbinate surgery ruined my life. I wish you full recovery but the turbinates are ORGANS---the doctors do not bother to tell you this before surgery. I'm sure they did not mention this to you. Turbinates control many breathing functions and if operated on can stop working, making you feel like you are suffocating. People magazine online just did an article about Empty Nose Syndrome.

Hi. Apparently, that is an epidemic among dictors: doing procedure without telling the patient. I belong to a Facebook group of people who all ended up with Empty Nose Syndrome. MANY of the people there had no idea they were having a turbinectomy until after the surgery. It is unbelievable that doctors are doing this. Whether a person ends up with complications or not is beside the point---the idea that doctors are actually doing surgery that they don't even tell the patient about is mind-blowing. I wish you good health. If you do end up with any complications, get a copy of your pre-authorization form. If the doc did not get you to authorize a turbinectomy, you should turn him in to the medical board.

Mellow Mike Thank you,I was told that if they found anything else wrong after the surgery they would do it all in one go,so I was kind of informed about it.

Actually, that's even worse. They didn't tell you WHAT they were going to do---just that they would do other stuff if they wanted to once they were in there. You can't consent to something if you don't even know what it is. I do hope you have the best outcome. But if you have any complications, you have a pretty good case to turn this doctor in. The next person they operate on might not be so lucky. If that happens, he'll be furious that nobody tried to stop this doctor. Good health to you.
