10 days ago, I had this procedure performed along with a tonsillectomy, and turbinate reduction. My breathing has already improved significantly!!! On day 8, I was finally able to breath with a closed mouth. At almost 40, this is a first for me. The septoplasty wasn't too bad. I encourage anyone who may need this, get it done!
Yes how are you doing now? I might have to have this done. I get constant sinus infections & drs say to get it checked but I just had knee surgery & want to make sure it really helps. This video is freaking me out ,especially the last part!!!
You're more asleep during surgery of course, but I had an endoscopy and they were playing music in the room while I was sedated. That music was all over my dreams while I was out, and apparently I woke up singing. Since pretty much every karaoke bar has this song, it seems appropriate. Thank goodness other patients in recovery with me were acting just as silly when they were waking up 😂
There you go. Nothing to be inconfident about. I had mine done three days ago. Recommend you to do the same. It will get better. As they say: "This too shall pass.."
@@zendog8888 I took 10 days off from work, that will be enough I think. Mine was severe, so after getting the stints out, three days will be left to recover properly
@@Prasad001 I had my surgery 6days ago..... It's little hard to have water or liquid food until they remove the nose pack. For me, they took it out after 2 days. Those two days you've to really be strong and tolerant. After that, once you get removed, you'll think you'll be freed, but no. They discharged me at that day of nose pack removal after having me for 6 hours after the removal for checking any bleeding. After that, I got little little bleeding very rarely for two days. Then eventually everything got dried and rough. Today I went for check up. They cleaned my nose with some water like solution in syringe. After that cleaning process, within 2-3 hrs, everything detached from inside and came out...... Now I'm freeeeeeeely breathing like never before. Huh 😌 such a relief after a week of this procedures. But this cleaning should be done 3 times a day (half an hour before meal B-L-D). But once itself I'm feeling great. After all cleaning process I'd feel even better I hope.
I've always been a mouth breather all my life. I learned this was not normal as I got older. It got worst overtime with dry mouth, irritated lungs, and bad sleep due to sleeping with my mouth open constantly. I finally got this procedure done and regret I didn't get this done sooner. IT'S LIFE CHANGING AND AMAZING!!
@@coolboy-fs1nr bro i also had this problem.i can't able to breathe on both sides this problem is called deviated septum.cost for this surgery is in between 40k to 60k.this surgery name is septoplasty
I completely understand how all of you feel upon watching this. My advice to everyone is that if you had watched the video BEFORE your operation, then try to constantly think about all the good and benefits you'll have once the procedure is complete. Your breathing/exercising will improve and you'll be able to sleep better.
+Lyssy Noel I had this done last Wednesday along with a turbinate reduction on both nostrils, Im feeling so much better at this point, not going to lie days 2 and 3 were pretty rough but I am feeling almost 100% now 4 days after :) I can feel the changes already :)
No it wont straighten your noise you need a nose job for that unfortunately! My nose is pretty even it was just the inside that was extremely crooked but you'd definitely have to get a rhinoplasty on top of the deviated septum surgery to straighten the nose on the outside. Cost in Australia was pretty cheap, I have private health insurance so about $200 for the procedure and the rest was covered by private heath. The anesthesiologists was about 500 dollars though so that was the most expensive part of it. definitely worth it Im almost 2 months on and feeling so much better!!!
+Turd Nugget AHHAHA i know my reply is late but are u kidding me is the septoplasty really nothing compared to a tonsillectomy because i had a horrible tonsillectomy experience and still compared to this i feel like it'd be a breeze and i've been holding off getting this done for 7 years nearly
***** yeah, I agree. I just had this done today. When I saw him push that "ice pick" 4 inches into his nose, I thought "Thank God I didn't watch this before the surgery. I might have chickened out!
I just had this surgery done two days ago ... I can't imagine my soft-spoken, calm and slow-to-anger ENT stabbing me in the face with a screwdriver ... lol.
I just had my surgery a week ago. After the operation, the surgeon stuffed cotton inside my nose to prevent it from bleeding. The pain in the nasal area wasn't so bad but what bothered me was my throat, hurts every time I breathe, eat, or drink. Barely had any sleep that night.
I had this procedure done ten days ago. I am 61 years old and have had sinus infections most of my life. I can now see why its important to be patient with the healing process. I can breath thru both nostrils at the same time and Im sure glad I didnt watch this video before surgery!
Had this done a week ago along with a turbinate reduction surgery. I was under general anastesia, however (probably due to the turbinate procedure). I had some mild problems with throat pain (from breathing tube placed while under anastesia), mild nosebleeds, and lots of mucus. The ENT prescribed Hydrocodone for the first few days, so it was manageable. The worst thing was the sniffly nose. You cannot blow your nose for 1 month after the procedure and you just have to dab your nose. It was more of a nuisance than pain. If anyone has this procedure coming up, don't worry! It is very mild compared to other operations and you'll be up and running in a week. Good luck!
Roberto Colangelo Yes, a very large portion of it was. The total without insurance came out to be around $3,000, and after insurance I only had to pay $285 out of pocket.
I had this done yesterday with turbinate reduction too. No pain, just soreness in my upper teeth. I'm glad I didn't see the video until AFTER the procedure though. It's scary to watch, but I feel great and can't wait for my follow up visit on Wednesday to get the splints out. :)
Just had my septoplasty last week. It's definitely a major improvement, and I can finally breathe normally again. Apparently I had broken my nose as a kid and never knew all my nasal issues were from a deviated septum. Running, biking, etc. Is so much easier than it used to be! Anyone on the fence about this surgery, rest assured the benefits far outweigh the risks.
Same bro my doctor said the same that you must have injured yourself when you were kid. I had it yesturday on 2/06/2023. Btw how long did they keep the dressing its pissing off now
Exactly the same happened to me! The doctor told me I had broken it long ago. Looking forward to seeing the results. Had it just fixed four days ago. The first hours after surgery were very uncomfortable, but rather because of the effects of anesthesia. Very little pain, except for the removal of the tampons.
I just went and had this done yesterday, I have no pain or discomfort and I can tell that this is going to be worth it in the end. The nasal packing is a little annoying but it'll be gone soon and I'll be able to breath crystal clear for once in like 10 years, it'll be beautiful.
1st was easy, but 3rd day lol not. Felt great getting stint out. 1 week post, still sore, and stuffy. I can breath though. I will be glad it isn’t sore, and feel like I have a bogger stuck in it.
@@ppac300 I need to get the surgery done again. It's not nearly as bad as it was before, my left nostril was completely blocked before. But over the years the cartilage in my outer nostril has been slowly getting suctioned further up into my nasal passage because I still have narrowed pathway. As a result you can lightly see an indentation in my left nostril now where cartilage has been suctioned out from years of inhaling through the tight squeeze.
I completely understand how you feel. My advice to you and everyone is that if you had watched the video BEFORE your operation, then try to constantly think about all the good and benefits you'll have once the procedure is complete.
Oh goodness it’s so hard to watch this but two of my daughters have a deviated septum and one of them is getting hers fixed. So good to know what she’s in for.
I had this procedure about thirty years ago after being diagnosed with a twisted septum. I had to go private because the problem wasn't noticed by the specialists I saw on the NHS. The surgeon was surprised by this and why they hadn't picked up on it! During the consultation I was basically given the option of either waiting another 12 months on the waiting list or having the surgery in two weeks time. I was in so much discomfort that I chose the latter. It wasn't cheap, but well worth it! I left the hospital the next day and still remember how fresh the air smelled! I was able to breathe much better and also my left ear did not feel blocked. The surgeon told me that I may need to have it done again later in my life. I think he was right because the same problem may have come up again. I'm just waiting for an examination. Well, it was good for thirty years, so I'm not complaining! I'm 67 now.
This is so helpful, I might have to get this done myself and it's just great to see how it's done, scared like crazy but not as much anymore :) Thanks for the video!
I had this done 2010, I also had my tonsils removed in the same time. This surgery was a tough recovery but well worth it. I breathe so much better now and don't snore anymore or have trouble breathing at night :)
@@aarushrastogi2839 it’s a condition you get from Septoplasty if it goes bad. You’ll feel that your nose is stuffed but it’s really not, also nosebleeds and infections.
This is the surgery my grandmother needs but she's 85 and they advised her not to have it done because of her age and besides that, she's terrified of surgery. But with her allergies and the deviated septum and the symptoms that come along with that, everyday is rough for her. I'm thinking surgery is the best option. And this surgery looks like it was nicely done. Great job!
I had this operation a few days ago. The post-op pain really isn't very bad at all. I fell fine. Nose is blocked, but not very bad. Can actually breath through my nose. Didn't think I would be able to due to swelling.
I just had the operation this morning, and i can breath so much better. The bleeding is minor for me and i feel great. Just no heavy lifting or being outside in the heat for a few days. I suggest this to anyone who thinks they have a deviated septum. Have it checked my a ear, nose, and throat specialist. All you need is a simple scan of your nose and sinuses for them to determine if you require the operation. Thanks doc! haha
Just had my bilateral septoplasty with turbine reduction and rhinoplasty completed, it was a very quick and not too painful of a process. I’m in day 5 of recovery and first few days were kinda painful and there is a lot of blood drainage and some nausea but after 2-3 days, it becomes much easier to deal with and overall breathing (even without having my splints removed yet) SIGNIFICANTLY feels better as I had a really deviated septum. Hope this helps anyone reading! :)
Glad to hear this, I'm a med student and I came here for learning purpose, but reading comments like yours, made me feel very proud to be in this career too. My bf is going to undergo a septoplasty very soon too. Pray for his speedy recovery 🤗🤗❤️
Hey can I ask if this was covered by insurance!? I was in a situation 4 years ago where my nose was busted in with a pistol . Doctor is recommending septoplasty with turbine reduction .. Thing is I keep over thinking if it’s worth it cuz even if I had septoplasty my nose would still be crooked an look odd from the outside. How did you get recommended with rhinoplasty!
Done the surgery one month ago: I can breath so much better right now: the first 2 days where horrible because I had a complication during the surgery, I lost lots of blood. Thanks for sharing this video, now I can see how this surgery is done! :)
I just had this done a few days ago. I’ve had chronic sinus issues for years. I can’t remember a time when I was able to breathe freely and clearly without being on something like prednisone. I’m only 4 days out and things are still swollen, but I can tell this is going to help. I also had polyps in my sinuses which was incredibly gross in addition to blocking my breathing. It’s been difficult to irrigate so far but it’s getting better
Just had this done four days ago along with turbinate reduction and nasal valve collapse which required an implant placement. I have my post op in two weeks time, and I can't wait.
I had my cutting 3 weeks ago. The first week I still had supported in my nose and now my nose is still healing/wounded, clogged at times with mucus which I can't yet blow out hard due to the pain. However, I can already breathe so much more than usual. My nose looks the same but it feels bigger due to the massive amounts of air going through. Before, I could almost not use one nostril at all. Breathing like a normal person makes me happy. I hope I never lose the appreciation for this. Before, I had never complained about the blockade because I never had a reference. I'm 28.
Hello, I barely get sleep because of this and it ruins my mood, even lost jobs because of my sleep problems, really excited to see if this surgery fixes everything
lovesmusic916 hey hey! Have you considered - Caraks Expert Polyps Prevent (search on google)? Ive heard some decent things about it and my work buddy got great results with it.
Compared to never being able to breath I'll take it since I was young or birth one nose is always shut I know I need this badly and I have no money at all broke college student
Literally just had this surgery 5 days ago. I'm freaken dying at 02:53 and your comment. My nose hurts from laughing so much as I still have the nasal splints in.
I thought the same thing! Just found out I have deviated septum, I thought the packing I've been watching people get pulled out was horrible! 🤥 I think I will wait as long as I can!
You know I am so glad I didn't see this video before I had this done. But it definitely helps to better understand what they did and how it will help be breath better especially at night. On day four of recovery but even now feeling tons better.
I am 26 and had septoplasty with turbinate reduction and endoscopic sinusitis a week ago, was discharged in 5 days after the surgery. The surgery took about 1-1.5 hrs and was done under general anesthesia so didn't feel a thing. I had splints and not nasal packing, so there was at least some air going through my nose. They provided me with nose drops (BGX solution) so that my nose doesnt get clogged. For the initial two days, even if I just sit straight for 5 mins, blood would start slowly dripping from my nose. So had to mostly be resting in a slanting position. But after that it just happens around twice a day. Splints were removed a day before discharge and that also wasn't painful. There was no significant pain in the nose throughout. Though overall there were painful things common to all surgeries, like pain in the mouth because of breathing tube used in general anesthesia. And also the pain from the IV drip used to deliver antibiotics and pain killers. Be sure to the drops/spray or nasal rinse regularly to clean the dried up blood. Because if you dont clear it, you will feel an irritating pulling sensation when you try to eat something or smile :)
Hey! I hope you’re doing well. I’m gonna have this surgery soon, do you deal any long term issues after the surgery? Did it come back. Any issues after the healing process? Did your nose shape/appearance changed at all. Thank you!
@@hafsa3307 hello hello, yes I'm doing well :) No, everything has been going fine and it hasn't came back. And even if it were to it would be after more years I guess. The healing was also quite smooth and my 👃🏼 looks fine too 😄 So don't worry, just relax and go for it. I wish you good luck 👍🏼👍🏼
Just had sinus surgery... fixed a deviated septum, turbinates and opened passages to upper and lower sinus cavities........ SO glad I waited til after the surgery. I'm 1.5 weeks post-OP and all I want to do now is feel around for my missing bone and cartilage! Didnt realise it involved so much removal!
Got the procedure yesterday morning and turbinate reduction 🙌🏾 I don’t know why I didn’t watch the procedure I always do before but anyway I can already tell a huge difference even my eyes sit differently I can’t wait until the swelling goes down and I can finally breathe normal I’ve been struggling for 15 years!!! best thing ever 😁🙌🏾
Hey can you please share your experience after 1 year, I need to get mine done next month, so please share a bit about long term effects of the surgery.
I had a septoplasty + bilateral turbinate reduction + adenoidectomy a week ago. My throat was killing me after the surgery, my nose had packing in it for the first night in hospital. The whole area is still swollen. Tomorrow it will be a week since I had it done and I'm getting the splints removed. I have a lot of mucus built up at the moment but a couple of days ago I felt so much air going through both nostrils it was amazing. Hopefully when everything is cleared up it will be close to perfect
Love that this can be done to help patients. It's especially awesome you are playing Don't Stop Believin' on the video. You must be a Steve Perry/Journey fan. 😊😊😊
I had it done today. At first you are in so much pain but after a few hours you start to feel better. I have pain meds as well. I too started crying right when I woke up but that's just a side effect from the anesthesia. Good luck for who ever is getting it done!

I do not recall ever having the ability to breathe through my nose after enduring a childhood injury during a basketball game at the age of 11. I kept putting off this surgery for about 6 years until one day I decided to just get it over with.. I had my deviated septum surgery + turbinates 6/30/2023 and I am on day 8 of my recovery.. despite the swelling, the bruising, and the pain I still believe I made the right decision because today I experienced breathing through both nostrils for the first time! the air passing through my nostrils tickled my nose and brought tears of joy to my eyes.. If you are suffering from a deviated septum and are questioning the procedure... just do it ! it will change your life for the good. good luck ! hope you have a speedy recovery.
i had this procedure 5 days ago along with turbinate reduction and concha bullosa surgery. first night was very painful since the packing caused headaches and pressure on my face. after the packing was removed, the pain immediately went away and was about a 2/10 pain. i feel like my breathing has improved and i can take deeper breaths. my nose currently feels very stiff from the scabbing but barely any pain! i get frequent migraines so hopefully this surgery helps!
Just had this done yesterday and I'm so glad I watched this after my surgery. It's not that bad to be honest and the pain is about a 5/10 the first day and about a 3/10 the next day. I only took 1 pain killer and that was after my surgery and today i just took some Tylenol. If you're thinking about it, get it done because I can already breathe better even with the splints in. I can't wait until it's fully healed and I don't get any more sinus infections!

I’ve struggled with nasal breathing for 15 years. Always a mouth breather. Doctors are finding the vital importance of nasal breathing. It’s positive health impacts are vast. It is life changing.
Ashley Delfeld I agree. Not worth it. I’ve already had 2 terrible surgeries with some of the worst moments of my life in regards to pain. No more. I’m surgery free until the day I die.
@@ermal6157 no,i was unconscious and felt nothing at all, it was just like a normal nap, and when i woke up i didn't knew that the surgery was done, only after waking up properly i was able to tell that i had surgery and only because my nose was clogged and even then there was no pain in the beginning, and overall the pain was very less while i was recovering and i only felt it when moving my nose or touching it even slightly.
To be fair I watched this video before my surgery and it did look pretty savage, but at least I fully understood the operation; hence less panic when you see cuts and stitches in your nostrils. :) I'm a month on after surgery, no pain killers or nose bleeds, walked out of hospital the same day. So not as horrific as some of these comments. Anyone who has been offered a septoplasty should go for it.:)
Just came to say I've done it yesterday in the morning. This is my second day of recovery. PostOp is not painful but rather a bit annoying. Throat Pain, I guess because of tubes while operating and afterwards because you breathe on the mouth only. The second day of recovery is much better. Pain 1 or 2/10. Will take of splints in 6 days I think and can update you. In general you don't feel a shit so don't be scary to go for it. I only remember going to sleep after anestesia. And next minute I am walking up in the room to a nurse telling me it all went good. I paid 1500 euros in Bosnia for this Op. It is not scary at all you will not feel much pain it's just a stupid sense of stuffed nose and having to breathe through mouth. I can't wait for the day to take off splints as they say it is the best feeling in the world. Also, I will update you on my life improvements and everyone here tells they noticed them.
I had this done and the best thing is too not smile a lot and do the nose wash. When the swelling goes down you will see that it is worth it. I can breathe better and I'm not stopped up in the morning.
Just had this done a week ago today, wasnt a walk in the park but very glad its over and done with. I was dreading it for months but its definatley worth the pain and fear lol (the pain isnt too bad). After 2 and a half years of crappy breathing Im so glad I got the surgery!

Cant wait to start to finally breath properly through both nostrils 😊. They put you to sleep which was the bit i was dreading, you just get dizzy and knock off. Next minute i was awake and it's all done. Anyone thinking about going for it, just do it !!
@@Trading-Alp dude I'm so scared, not that I'm getting one at all soon, but just the hopelessness man, am I never going to get to breathe normally again? I had a fun childhood, but goddamn I wish I didn't fuck around and bang my head around so much

After 20+ years of sinus infections and headaches, I finally went to see an ENT Specialist at 41. After examining my nasal passages, she asked me if I ever sustained a head injury. I recalled a bike accident in college when I flipped over my bike and hit my face. I was taken by ambulance to the hospital with a mild concussion. My doctor suggested I deviated my septum as a result of the accident. It totally makes sense to me because I started having sinus issues shortly thereafter. I had suffered over 20 years with throbbing pain and infections. Now, nearly 30 years later, I can honestly say I have not had one sinus problem since. Don't suffer like I did for all those years. See a specialist and get treatment. It really works!
Just had this done yesterday, and fainted trying to take antibiotics earlier today. The pain for the first 8 hours was quite bad. But can already notice an improvement in breathing after 30 hours.

I had this done couple of months ago now, and Im so glad I didnt watch this first! However, other than waking up with tampons up my nose and a sanitary pad strapped under my nose to catch drips, my recovery was really fast. I do have a small hole left from this in the nostril that was blocked, and it whistles a bit, but, I can now breathe so much better through it, it was well worth it, my nose looks no different now than it did before. Not that I was that bothered.
Id say its probably it was 3mm or so in diameter, no they didnt fix it and actually it hasnt bothered me at all. Actually Im really curious as to what happens to any snot that goes in there, I mean, where does it go?? but other than a small childish fascination with the hole, its not like people can tell the whistling has gotten less, so I guess it has gotten smaller - I havent looked recently
