im 17 and a half and ive been panicking about this shit for like a week now but for me it's because i used to have a disconnected undercut with number 1 buzz cut on the sides and now im growing my hair long and it looks weird, lmao if you really have a receding hairline you'll know about it its more obvious than you think

Thanks for this. I am 17 years old and back when i was 15 or 16 I stress a lot and that makes me pick my hair to relieve my stress.. Now im starting to take good care of my hair...I think my hairline now is just maturing
What I will say is I've been getting a receding hairline since late high school. My grandfather on my father's side went bald in his early 20's and unfortunately I think I've picked it up. Almost 21 and I have a pretty big receding hairline. Tomorrow I'm making a conscious decision to buzz the hair all and embrace a shaved head. Thank you for your videos, it's much appreciated.
this helps me even more. my hairs always been like this and my hair is super long and curley. i noticed its not thinning out anywhere its roughly all the same everwhere and i feel so much more relaxed about it now. being only 20 this stuff has become more worrying. im defiantly subscribing and im going to keep a eye on it lately

@@bigahhballs6489 Maturing hairline is balding. Everybody is balding. There is no reason why you should have more hairs as you get old. So answer is - Yes, you are balding. It is not impotent. Very important is how fast and how much you are recede. Receding hairline can stop at some point and you should be able keep decent hair for decades. You can have perfect hairline and literally going bald in 5 years. You can not predict it. I know how do you feel. I used to check my hairline 10 times per day. I cried. But my hairline looks same as 2 years before. I have receded temples, small hair on hairline, thinning spot at front, thinning right temple, thinning left temple... And my hair didn't change. By the way, you are man, society accept balding and shaved head. Most women accept it. So don't worry. Enjoy your life. Somebody doesn't have legs... It is much worst than balding.
I'am 20 and since my father lost all the hair on top of his head by the time he reached 30 I have always been worried. From time to time I think about it and have these small episodes of panik. Anyway I don't normally comment or even upvote videos but I just wanted to say thank you! Your videos really calmed me down. @@thenoodleguy5481 I'm still fine, no signs of a receding hairline, thank you for asking. At the time my hairline was just maturing, and thanks to Nick I know the difference. In addition to what Nick says in this video, I also found out that the gene for hair is in the X-chromosome so you should look at your mother's father and other men on her side of the family and not your father, and that also helped me.
@@gwniteesh2436 As Nick says in the video, if you aren't 20+ you probably don't have to worry. If you are still worried, take a look at your mother's father and if he had hair then you have a, at the very least, 50% chance of not losing your hair. I don't think you have too much to worry about at 15, but if you have watched this video, and possibly the first one, then you know what signs to look for and you can make more informed choices. Also, while I have looked into this subject and believe myself to have some idea of what I am talking about, I am by no means an expert, so please don't take my word as the definitive truth.
20 and im pretty sure its recceding because its just so much further back than it was when i was even 17, im terrified because i have long hair and its literally the only thing that gets a girl to bat an eyelash at me and im just not sure i can go about my life bald.
Much better, Nick! I certainly don't blame you for leaving the other video up, no worries. When someone starts receding, the baby (or vellus) hairs often REPLACE normal (or terminal) hairs. I imagine that's what you were talking about. And don't worry, there's no shortage of 20ish (and older) guys who can benefit from your videos, so you're not gonna lose your audience! Only one correction of significance this time: Hairlines don't typically "mature" at 15, 16, or even 17. 18-29 is the general range as far as I know, but that's a fairly minor issue. Oh, and yeah, some guys actually do start losing hair in high school, but it's rare. When I start to see signs of receding, which is inevitable, I'll probably see a good doctor, but I might watch the rest of your vids as well! Cheers.
Mostly! You're good, my man. Mature hairline has nothing to do with puberty that I'm aware of, in fact it's not very well understood. Some even claim it's the fist stage of balding! But much better, as i said, not very in-depth, but no major issues here.
James Gorman no your hair is not going to fall out it's in your genetics you will start to notice that your hairline start to mature as you get older it's just a part of life unless your family members with your grandpa has no hair and started losing his hair at 16 or 17 your dad probably would have started losing his hair around that age to so unless your dad has no hair but if you're really that concerned about it just shave it that's the easiest thing to do my hair has been growing back and has gotten pretty long but if you notice that your hair is starting to mature that's perfectly normal we are hairline goes through different stages with stress with how you eat so change those couple of things like if you a lot of stress in your life change that if you eat crap food eat better food that's better for your body and your hair will not fall out
I must disagree on the teenager thing. I knew guys way back when I was on highschool that were clearly balding, and progressed to be balder after that. They tried to cover it up by certain hairstyles, but with gymnastics when their styles would get mesed up, you could tell. Some would wear a curtain-style hairstyle to make it not as obvious, but when htey moved or in gym you could see it. I was frustrated with my hair texture (odd kinky texture) so I watched other guys hairs alot, and I could just tell. Some I suspected for a long time because they would have certan styles to cover up their hairline, which were not 'cool' styles at that time in my country (like fullycombind forwards) .(speaknig end 90's) and later I would see they would have some recession going on. Not mature hairlinees, but a hairline like you. Some were like 16/17 or so..so I'm sure at least sometimes it can be applied to teens . Guys who go actualy go pretty much completely bald within their 20's, usually already have signs pretty clear signs of balding early on (like second half of teens). Not to scare anyone, but I really know some guys like that.
I’m currently in high school and I also noticed some kids who are either 17-18 are balding with a receding hairline. I can probably say about 5 dudes I’ve seen with a receding hairline. I have pretty good hair genes so thankfully I’m not too scared

@@archiesutherland6127 Well a square head is one of the best head shapes trust me. You know Channing Tatum? He has a sort of square-ish head and in the movie Coach Carter (2005) he shaved his hair off for the role and it looked so good on him (probably because the rest of his face is so pretty, no homo). So if your face is nice and you have a nice jawline like he does, it will look good on you when you do eventually start balding (which you won't before you're 35+)😂
Minoxolid also seem to cause these "babyhairs". I've noticed these new "babyhairs" at my hairline after a couple of months of minoxolid (2x a day) and ketokonazole (2x a week) and silicone free shampoo. Starting finasteride soon too, so i'm pretty excited. I'm 22 and I have all the signs that you talked about. Receding at the temples, and thinner hair at the front (slightly at the crown). My father is almost completely bald at the top, so I kinda want to do something with it now.
It only seems like the temples are receding (not by lots but noticeable), although it's seemed like that for the past years without me noticing. everywhere else is normal, that's a mature hairline right?

Hi, I just wanted to say something about your definition of widow's peak. A widow's peak is a type of hair formation you are born with, it's not something that you can attain, at least not naturally. Receding hair is not the same thing as a widow's peak. Many people are just born with their hair like that, whereas you had to lose hair to get like that. I have a widow's peak because my hair forms a slight v like shape while being rounded at the temples, but it is not thinning. Someone who's hairline is receding gives off the illusion of having a widow's peak, but in reality, widow's peak is something you're born with. Receding hairline is completely different. It's a very common mistake, but I just wanted to point this out because many of the people who have widows peaks that are watching this video may be fooled into thinking they're losing their hair, when in reality, that's just the way their hair is formed. Google seems to disagree with me on this one, but I'll give you an example. You see how your hair is more rounded in the center? People with widows peaks generally have a pointed center, to varying degrees. Your hair is rounded and is drawing into the crown. There's a distinct difference there. I have an aggressive widows peak and when I was 16 I started freaking out about my hair. I just turned 18 and I just shaved my head. I heard that diet and stress could affect it so I’m gonna keep it short and see how it goes with everything.
You're still giving away so much false information. these shorter hairs have 0 to do with balding. In another video you talked about mature hairline and in what angle it's balding. That was also false many people have foreheads like you and arent balding. And also the teenager thing. You defenetely can go bald at 16 its not that common but something you could worry about.

Thanks for the video Nick it was very helpful,l but I'm still not sure if my hair is receding or not. Do you reckon my GP (doctor) would know? I'm 19 years old and have a widow's peak, I have thin hairs around the edge of my hair line, these have been around forever. I have lots and lots of hair but individual hairs are thin- the amount of it however makes it seem thick. My hair is long and seems to matte easily, it also tangles up. I have no baldness on the top of my head yet my forehead is exceptionally bigger than average (or so I think) and my widows peak stems back about another 1cm! On top of that my hair comes out real easy; I comb my fingers through my hair and a fair bit of hair will pull out, I don't know whether this is because of the thinness of each individual hairs on my head or just because I am balding or hair is thinning. I really hope I'm not going bald! PLEASE HELP.
I still have a full thick head of hair at 19 but my left temple has shorter hairs with a little thinning that goes back around 1.5cm but my right temple is still juvenile with no shorter hairs, hoping its a maturing hairline, i noticed it a year ago.

I've got a challenge for you, Mr. Shell, internet receding hairline guy. Most agree that your hair is still in decent shape, given your age. I'd like to see you take your recession a few steps further. Try the full "island" look on for size, a la Bruce Willis in Die Hard, Richard Nixon, etc. You could either shave your hairline back in the twin-runway pattern, or just style it to make it look worse than it is. Highlight the problem areas, don't hide them! Then you go out into the world and film the adventure. Maybe you try out some speed dating, with permission from your wife, of course! Or, head out to some other social function, preferably where youngish, attractive people are congregating. You understand what I'm getting at? Do a social experiment of sorts. You have considerably more hair than a high percentage of guys with receding hairlines, many of whom are much younger than you. This has as good a chance of going viral as anything you've done, believe me! Enough rambling. I would never dare try this experiment, so I'll gain some serious respect for you if accept this challenge! Cheers.
every time i cme from the barber shop i notice a spot in the crown but when my hair gets longer than spot disappears ! it is not a big spot but it is scaring the shit out of me !!!!
