Got to say, you are the only reviewer of this watch I could find on RU-vid, and what a brilliant review it is! Very funny and informative. Just a bit of extra information for those looking to buy the HR variant of this: - The watch can last 10 days before it starts to lose data without syncing. - For some people, the app can bug out and not show any sleep data. Sequent said they are working on a fix. - If you have small wrists, the straps that came with it is a bit too long. I had to order shorter ones off amazon. The Bartons' ones work brilliantly.
@@hoangbv Yes, still wearing it. Finding that because it doesn't synch automatically, I forget to do it, and it seems to lose a little time if not synched regularly. So I'm finding it more like a normal automatic watch. I like the design so I'm still wearing it.
@@arlo.guthrie like you, I bought it through kickstarter, and love its design. It's also a replacement for a Withings Steel HR. I guess we are a similar kind! A pity it loses time if not synced regularly though, the withings did not do that.

So, this is a great review in both style and content, but I want to add a counterpoint as someone who wanted more (HR/sleep), and paid more (between KS and retail price), for the Sequent Supercharger 2.1 HR. Yes, the self-charging works great, but that's about it. So, for those of you thinking of dropping between $450-$500 USD, you should know: 1. Syncing to the app often takes multiple tries. 2. Despite selecting "sleep beta" in the app, no sleep data displays in the app. 3. Despite selecting to have my HR taken every 2 hours, it takes it exactly never. 4. It sometimes just goes all wonky with time, steps, or whatever for no apparent reason. 5. Firmware updates are usually difficult to initiate and complete. I have a pretty pedometer and timekeeper that doesn't require batteries or charging. I wanted the HR and sleep data for health reasons and am not getting them. So far, I really regret this purchase.

Really great review and I really like your style. A couple thoughts that I think could have made this video even better: 1. You seemed to focus a lot on just one feature of the watch while skipping over a lot of other aspects. Are pedometer and HR the only smart features, or are there others? What are the materials of the watch? What are the dimensions? Can you tell us more about the brand and their history? 2. Macro, macro, macro! I would want to see more closeup shots of the watch to better appreciate the design. Not that I don't like your face, but the product is what we're really here to see. Less of a critique and more of an opinion, I disagree with your assessment that watches have to be round. There are dozens of iconic timepieces that look great in a square/rectangular case (Cartier comes to mind).

Very pleasent review, I really like your style of expressing. Few minutes with a smile on my face. Sadly, the special design and the interesting battery life are not enough to make me buy it. For real, I really like the design. :(

Hi, phone doesn't have GPS on board, you connect it to your phone and it uses that. Press crown for 2 seconds then click twice. Watch then flashes to confirm. Then you walk with app running and when you finish the walk, you triple tap the crown. You get a map showing the route, distance, time, calories burned. If you have the heart rate monitor (I don't) then you also get that data too. As for sleep, I think that works much like any other. Shows you a recording of when it thinks you were asleep. I've never really understood the point of those, but then I sleep like a log.
I'm still using mine here, though I confess the firmware/app were annoying enough that I stopped using it several times due to frustration or the fact that I wanted to wear one of my "regular/non-smart" automatic watches. In any case, the new app (OXYGO or whatever) and (wishful thinking) new watch firmware have me back to using it daily. I compared the steps I got with the SC2, my Oura ring and my Android phone and it seems that SC2 is within an acceptable error margin...finally... Are you still using this watch? Just curious!
Yes, I still wear the watch! That said, after the initial excitement, I don't now pay much attention to the steps, or the software, or updating it! I wear it mainly because I like the design and it is fully automatic. Occasionally I glance at it to see how much I've moved that day. I find it does lose time over a period of weeks, which is a little annoying. I think what would be really useful is if it vibrated to indicate time to stand up and walk around.
Thank you. In fact the watch stopped working completely the other day ... you've reminded me to see if I can reset it! If I can get it working again, then I can have another go to see how well the pedometer is working these days.
@@arlo.guthrie Actually my watch stopped working about 2 weeks after I first received it too, and the battery still said 95% right before that. I popped it on the charger and it worked again. That was on 16th May. 3 weeks later and it's still working right now. My battery reading never showed anything other than 95% so I was suspicious. I contacted Sequent, and they said the battery reading may still be correct. Their battery is so small, they can only measure it in big increments, like 5, 15, 40, 60, 80 and 95%. They said it was probably just a small hiccup that resolved itself after I charged it with the charger. Have you resolved your issue? If not, maybe try to put it on the charger for a few minutes and synch with the phone again?
@@hoangbv Thanks - I did exactly that, and it sprang back to life immediately! I am finding it loses time a little. And I need to do another test to see if the pedometer updates have made a difference.
Funnily enough, I am just trying out the new model for a forthcoming review. Haven't yet tested pedometer, but I will. Certainly other features of the watch have improved significantly since V1.
