Join my friend Julie and I on an Adventure in Sequoia Nat'l Park. It is my first time visiting the park. My GPS gets us lost on the way in, but we get back on track and have an amazing weekend of hiking in the Park. On day one we hike Moro Rock and Crescent Meadow. Day 2 coming soon!

Trail of 100 Giants is a must do -- especially to escape the crowds. The crest part before dropping into the meadows is my favorite! Have you/are you interested in doing the HST, which starts at Crescent Meadow? Happy trails!

I'm really excited about sharing Day 2. It's a very different hike and look at the area. One of the reasons I feel it's deserving of it's own video. I'm glad Julie came along. She is great company and it was a new area for me. With all the people...I might have been anxious being there alone. Thank you for watching!

Crescent meadows is a wonderful loop trail. And the loop trail next to it that goes to thorps log is fantastic to see bears grazing and foraging at a relatively safe distance. The trees are spectacular, massive and big enough to just live in as a house. The meadow itself is so beautiful. Loved that you were there while the dogwood was still in bloom and snow flowers too. Lots of not shy deer 🦌 who brazenly approach people in the picnic area. Been there several times and each time has been an absolutely unforgettable adventure

I spent 28 years living in Visalia, about an hr's drive back into the valley, from the HWY 198 park entrance. Taught my kids how to swim just upstream from the spired concrete bridge(1:23), where you got "back on track". We'd fish till dark and all would swim in cold fast water on those HOT summer evenings. Hope you got over to see the Sherman Tree (largest tree in the world) or Grants Grove ( Grant Tree is second largest tree! and in a whole grove of giants ) . I've never climbed Morro rock, but have flown around it several times. I believe you show a bit of Castle Rock Formation (10:1), which is largely unexplored. It's supposed to be VERY RUGGED and hard to get into. It's on my bucket list. Anyway my first real back packing trip was to Seville Lake, when I was 12 (1962). Couldn't get my girls interested in hiking but my son, his friends and I made several trips into that area. So much to see there and so many directions to go! Love your vids! Thanks for sharing.

Hi Katherine, Great Video. The air for your video was fairly clear and the view to the east was good. Alta Peak is the far left mountain with snow. The view west is not as clear as usual. You can see the Kaweah River flowing westerly but Kaweah Lake is not visible. If you are on the west side of Kaweah Lake, you can see both Moro Rock and Alta Peak. Thanks again.

Nice video. It makes me even more anxious to get out on the trail. Crescent Meadows, the start of the High Sierra Trail. I fell in love with the Sierra in 2015 while hiking the JMT. I went back and did a 1 week, 100 mile loop starting on the High Sierra Trail last year. This year I'm planning a bigger hike starting out of Horseshoe Meadow on the east side of the Sierra and hitting the four hot springs - at least the 4 that I'm aware of - in the Sierra as well as however many other new sights that I can pack into the 3 weeks. The flowering trees at around 8:30 were dogwood. My mom has one in front of her house in Idaho, and I see them frequently while hiking in Northern California.
@CatherineGregoryAdventures
@CatherineGregoryAdventures 7 лет назад
Thank you for the clarification on the type of tree. It is absolutely beautiful! I am envious about your past hike and your upcoming trip. Are you hitting Jordan Hot Springs by chance?
@michaelb1761
@michaelb1761 7 лет назад
Starting in the south, I plan to hike to Kern River hot springs, Blayney hot springs, Mono hot springs, and Iva Belle hot springs. I'll leave either at Reds Meadow (Mammoth) or somewhere in Yosemite depending on timing.
