@Ricpow80AkaNagamooto I continue to use the Lenovo 135w power brick. A good and cheap alternative is an old notebook power supply of 120w or more. They are 19.5v, and the S99 works really well with then.
@@MOZARTF Thank you - I can find the Lenovo 135w for about USD54 and as I can't seem to find any other type with a USBC output and similar wattage, I'll probably just go for the Lenovo as you recommend...
@@MOZARTF Can I please ask about the which USBC cable you used to get the 150W output with the Lenovo 135W power supply: I've read that to get this output, you need to use lenovo's own usb cable as it can give 20v at 6.75/7A and that other cables (even 240W usbc cables) will max out at 100W/not provide the appropriate output power?
@Ricpow80AkaNagamooto I use a 240W silicone cable with 1.5 m length. I tested the S99 with the original cable that came with the 135w power brick and there where no power gains. The Lenovo cable is much more rigid than the silicone one,, dificulting the soldering iron movement.
@@MOZARTF Thank you for confirming a 240W usb c will work to give 150W - the reason I asked was as I was concerned as I was under the impression that a regular 240W usbc could not handle the 7.5A demand at 20/21v required...
@mehmetas4777 this cable is indeed thick, but it's extra soft silicone insulation. On Aliexpress, there are other vendors offering 1,5 meter variety of soft silicone cable.
Hi. This tip continues to function normally after 7 months of usage. There are no signs that the short duration full power test causes any damage. If future abnormalities with this JBC tip happen, I'll post here.
