Hello G Fire, first off, I wanna say thank you for the amazing video. I have the PIONEER DDJ-SR2, and when I plug in the USB from my controller to my MacBook on Serato, it says "FAILED TO CONNECT AUDIO" and the DECKS wouldn't show up. Could you please help me solve it if you have any idea and why it says that. Thank you in advance.

Hello Kay D and thanks for watching. According to Serato's list of supported hardware, the DDJ-SR2 is supported. I recommend that you reinstall Serato DJ. Then check Pioneer's website to see if there's an up-to-date driver for your DJ controller. If so, download it and install the new driver for the DDJ-SR2. You may also have to reinstall Serato DJ as well. That should solve your problem. Please let me know if this helps.

Hello Vampedum30: I just checked the supported Hardware page on Serato's website and it seem the SL3 is on the "Currently Unsupported" list of hardware. The Serato software with the Macbook Pro M1 Chip and Big Sur hasn't been the issue for me, its the Macbook Pro with the M1 chip and Big Sur not recognizing the controller Hardware. I have a Pioneer DDJ SX3 and Two Rane 72 MK II decks which will not connect.

WeSk8 TV Thank for watching and I'm sorry you're having that issue. According to Serato's list of comparable hardware, your hardware is supported. Make sure you have the most up-to-date drivers for your hardware though. Here is a link directly to Serato list of compatibility hardware - support.serato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001709035-macOS-11-Big-Sur-Serato-DJ-Pro-Serato-DJ-Lite-support-and-primary-hardware-compatibility. You may have to go directly to the manufacturers website to download any drivers i.e. Pioneer and or Rane. Please let me know if this helps.

I have a question for you. I have done everything you say in your video, but when I turn on my DDJ-SX3 Pioneer (compatible according to serato), the decks appear for a few seconds and then, they disappear. Any advice on this clitch?

Sometimes if you have a bad usb connection or accidentally move the cable causing a disconnect that may happen. Otherwise I don't know what else to check for.

@Kieroglyphics #KieroLovesYou I've never use the J5 create so I'm not sure but one way you can test it is to simply get a USB to USBC (for Macs)and try that with your DDJ-SX3 to see if it will connect. Otherwise I would reinstall Serato and update the drivers on the DDJ-SX3 from Pioneer's site to see if that works.

@Kieroglyphics #KieroLovesYou as far as USB Hubs go I have had great success with the Hyperdrive. As a back up I have a female USB to USB C adapter in case the hyperdrive ever fails. I have never use the J5 create so I don't know about its reliability or if that's even the issue. One way you can test it is taking the J5 create off of your MacBook and get a USB female to USBC adaptor and then reboot your DDJ-SX3 Setting Utility launch Serato. If that does not work I would suggest re-install Serato and then go to Pioneer's website and download the most updated drivers and reinstall them for the DDJSX3.

@@leyendolasescrituras2011 if you are using some kind of USB hub, maybe take the USB hub off of your Mac and replace it with a female USB to USB see cable and try that. If that does not work then you may have to reinstall Cerrado and the drivers for your DJ controller. If this solves the problem great if not I would seriously contact Serato Help Line and Pioneer as needed.

Im running the M1chipset on a 2020 MacBook "AIR" flawless... there's no big difference between the two PRO & AIR like back in the day. .Todays M1 pro just gives one more core then the air that's it!

What type of wire is the controller using? Usb b to c? Then what are you using for hard drive ?

Hello Jim C The Controller is using the original USB cable it came with which is a USB type B to USB Type A or known as a printer cable. As for hard drive I use a 4TB SSD built into my 15 inch Mac and 2 TB SSD in the 13 inch Mac in this video. Temperely used a 2 GB thumb drive to get the music file on the Mac in the video and the adaptor for it was a USB to USBC adaptor. How do I find the package for serato in my Mac. I keep getting connection to audio failed

When you first download Serato it goes to the "downloads" folder in the lower right corner of the dock. Then you have to click on the package to install Serato on your Mac. Once you install Serato on your Mac the app usually is placed in your Applications folder. You can drag a copy of it to your dock.

According to Serato's website the DDJ SB3 is compatible hardware. Otherwise Serato is compatible with the MacBooks that have the M1 chip.

I had problems at first when i was installing it last week. I'm running a pair of M5G's along with the DJM-S9, The problem I had was that the sensor buttons would come on buy themselves. I simply UNINSTALLED All versions of SERATO and all the DRIVERS, and did a fresh install of both and EVERYTHING is LOVELY!!!!! Hope this might help someone.

will uninstalling serato delete your music? That is going to be my next step I have music saved directly on serato though I dont want to lose.

@@mlo3423 As a precaution always run a backup!!! If you uninstall Serato, only the music crates you made directly in Serato would be deleted. What I do is create playlists in Apple Music(formally iTunes), so any DJ program I chose to use like Serato/VirtualDJ/DJayPro, imports my music into it. Now in Serato if I add a crate or smart crate and delete Serato, those crates will be deleted also. Any original music files on my Mac will not be deleted. As a precaution always run a backup!!!

So here’s my question. I am using my old SL2 interface. The decks pop up on the serato pro but when I load the tracks they do not appear on the screen. The bpms don’t also load. Is there something I am missing?

Hello Anthony. Unfortunately I do not have a Rane SL2 so I'm not sure what the problem could be. Currently though the SL2, SL3 and SL4 falls in the "unsupported hardware" category on Serato's website (check out this link): support.serato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001709035-macOS-11-Big-Sur-Serato-DJ-Pro-Serato-DJ-Lite-support-and-primary-hardware-compatibility . The only other thing I can suggest is give Serato and Rane tech-support a call/email/chat to see if there is a solution. At some point equipment and a computers alike just becomes obsolete and it's no longer supported by companies. I still have a 2009 MacBook but can only upgrade to a certain iOS because Apple will not support it. If I happen to find a solution I will let you know. If you do please let me know.

Try purging all unnecessary files from your hard drive, documents, and downloads folder. Clean up the desk top. 120 gigs is not a lot and easy to fill up with music so I'd recommend running music from an external HD or consider upgrading it with a bigger HD and more ram if possible. May need to reinstall Serato. If all else fails, try to find a good Mac repair person (PROFESSIONAL) in your area because Apple want touch it due to how old it is. Last resort, time to upgrade to a new MAC.

@@djkalenomuzic2615 it may be possible that the lag or buffering is cause by your external HD. I’ve Personally never ran a DJ program from an external hard drive I would suggest though running Serato directly from the Mac and maybe have your music ran on an external hard drive to save space on the Mac. There could be other variables causing this problem so again I do suggest you seek a professional computer repair person that is qualified to work on Mac. They usually have diagnostic software they can run on your computer to see if there’s any other issues that me and you both may not be aware of.

Hello Felixo1968. Not all MacBooks are able to upgrade to Big Sur due to the age of the MacBook and how Apple limits older Macs to upgrading but so far with iOS. I have a 2009 MacBookPro that "will not" upgrade to iOS Big Sur because it is too old and it's not supported. As for any purchases from Serato, I advise you to contact their customer service support and let them know that you have already purchased this program and wish to reinstall it on your computer. Hopefully they will see the purchase and give you the code to reinstall your Serato DJ Pro back to your computer. Please let me know if that problem is solved. Thank you brother.

I checked on the serato site to see if the hardware I was gonna buy is compatible and its not on the compatible list it is also not on the incomparable list so I still have no idea whether its compatible, also what annoys me is the really tiny controllers that don't even have 3 band eq's that are so basic that its extremely unlikely that anyone buying these would need Serato DJ pro these controllers are compatible with Mac OS Monterrey for dj Pro but the mid range that have a few more features that potentially people would use with dj pro these are only compatible with dj lite for Mac OS Monterey, this is completely backwards make things compatible that are more likely to need to be compatible actually compatible not the things that are extremely unlikely to need to be compatible first.

Thanks for watching mentomax2. I think if Serato got enough suggestions or complaints from enough DJs, they'd probably be more diligent with keeping up with software upgrades from Apple and other PC manufacturers. Of course there would also have to be a conversation with the hardware manufacturers like Pioneer, Denon, Rane, etc… This is why I personally only upgrade when I absolutely have to and do serious research to see if certain software would be compatible with certain hardware before I do. At this time I have not upgraded to Monterey on my MacBook.

Hello Voicewav thank you for watching the video and please excuse the delayed response. I'm not sure how it works nowadays when switching from PC to Mac. When I did that years ago I made sure that all of my music files were MP3s. I literally created a folder on my PC desktop for each playlist that I created in iTunes in the PC and put the music from iTunes in those folders accordingly.On my new Mac created a bunch of playlists according to the names of each folder I created on my PC Desk Top. I drag all of the PC desktop folders to an external hard drive in from the external hard drive I drag each music folder according to its name to the respective playlist in iTunes on my Mac. Every single file were MP3s and I didn't have any issues otherwise. I hope everything works out for you.

When i put that back up crate folder in the proper place in the file system it read cue points and remembered. Too bad my giant club pioneer isnt M1 ready. LOL. I still love this Mac though. Great video! I have a question. I have two technic 1200’s running a pioneer djm-s9 mixer. I’m trying to mix but no movement. Where’s the selection to choose Relativity/ABS? I don’t see it. Damn! Not sure how old your video is but I’m running version 2.5.7. I have a MacBook with a M-1 chip also. If you could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Leroy Scott. You can select Relative Mode (REL) from a drop down menu in the top left corner of the Virtual Deck area. REL mode observes the relative forward and backward movement of the record, but does not take into account the position within the record. REL mode disables needle dropping, but allows skip-free scratching.

@@nicasiotorres2063 Yes I was able to get it to work. I bought the $14 subscription (I remember but I believe it was three of them .ie serato lite). I never downloaded it. I was using the web version. I also downloaded the updated drivers for the S-9.

@@migueltapia6739 Como todos los equipos, el DDJ SX2 eventualmente se volverá obsoleto. Recomiendo aceptar ese hecho y actualizar. Si pinchas por dinero, es parte del costo de hacer negocios. Si el SX2 no será compatible en algún momento, simplemente actualizaré a un nuevo controlador. Utilizo mac debido a la perfecta transición entre mi teléfono y mi Ipad, por lo que personalmente cambiaría mi controlador de DJ antes de cambiar mi computadora. I need help I have a MacBook Pro 2020 M1 chip and I just got a pioneer ddj sb3. I’ve talked to support for no sound coming out of the speakers connected to my ddj sb3. Customer supper can’t help. Supported hardware here: support.serato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001709035 . Also make sure the firmware and drivers are uptodate with the sb3. Another not e with some pioneer controllers is you must plug them in with the power adaptor for the xls outs to work. If that doesn't work try contacting pioneer to get help with the sb3. According to Serato the sb3 is on the supported hardware list. Let me know if it works out Aldin.

It works with Big Sur but not with all DJ Hardware. Serato has also released this info. People should definitely research and see if their hardware is compatible. Not all of my equipment is. Roland DJ 808 is still being tested.

Hello DJ Miss cookie and thanks for watching. When you build yourApple Music (formally iTunes) playlist, Serato will automatically import those playlists into its DJ program accordingly. Now there are different ways to import iTunes playlist from one computer to another so you have to find out what's the best way for you. What I did it once I got a new computer was used it as an opportunity to clean up my music, so I was very specific on what I actually loaded to my new computer so I wouldn't clutter it. I basically copied playlist from my old computer into a folder and then move that folder over to the new computer via hard drive. I hope this helps answer your question if not you could probably find RU-vid videos on how to import iTunes library's from one computer to another one.

D-rain that's a good question but I really don't know. I can tell you this much though, my "15 inch" 4TB 2019 MacBookPro currently has 52 GB left out of 4TB and is running like a champ with Serato. So far the 13 inch MacBook Pro with the M1 chip in it (in the video) is running Serato like a beast.

Main thing we need to know and with tidal plus big music collection does it run on buffer 1 etc etc not enough information like with most on here im running a laptop but heard macs run best as Windows is always updating but failing to provide better specs instead downgrades your pc

@@technic02 I been with Mac since 2009. What I learned though is Mac is not necessarily better than Windows based PC but different. I know plenty of uses for uses Windows based PCs so what it comes down to is the guts inside the machine. If you have a good processor plenty of room in a big enough hard drive to accommodate your needs it really doesn't matter if it's Mac or Windows. The main driver for me using a MacBook, was the fact that I use iPads and iPhones so it just made sense the way all of my devices synced to each other and update smoothly. Otherwise with my hard drive being a 4 TB SSD there is plenty of space for my music that I want to keep on my computer. I tend to remove photos and videos to an external hard drive from time to time to keep the hard drive not so full. As for processing there is an intel core I9 in my Mac and about 32 gigs of RAM installed. So these are pretty much my justifications for having a MAC but again there are plenty of DJs who use window space PCs that are equivalent. So it's all about what's in the machine.

I have all my playlist in folders on an external HD that I update about once a quarter. The other way is to copy your iTunes music library over to your new Mac.

@@BAYBEKDL iTunes name has been changed to "Music". When you open it, start creating playlist and then drag each folder from your hard drive accordingly into your playlist accordingly. For example if you have a folder full of rock music on your hard drive, in "Music" make a playlist called "rock" and then drag those songs into that playlist from the folder.

@@BAYBEKDL the only way I know how to do this at the time is I build my playlist starting in music formally known as iTunes. When I open Serato it automatically pulls those playlist into it. I do it that way because if Serato crashed and I lose all my crates and I'll have to make new crated again. Also I have other DJ programs on my computer so to have all of my playlist built in Apple Music first then when I pull up Serato or Virtual DJ or DJay Pro AI, my music playlist or consistent across all platforms.

Yeah OK,, great but i use an sl4 how the hell do i get it to work? I mean i payed 1200 bucks for this sound Card. My 140$ behringer umc sound Card did not Even need an install and worked out the box. I tell you traktor and serato are onto some bullllllllz.

I agree brother. These software manufacturers need to come together and stop hindering our efforts. Although it does show that the SL4 is supported hardware with Big Sur on Serato's website: support.serato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001709035 it is also found that the SL4 is in testing on another: inmusicbrands.force.com/ranedj/s/article/macOS-11-Big-Sur-Compatibility-for-Rane-DJ . I would send a message to both companies tech-support for answers. I personally don't use the SL4 so that's the limit of what I can do to help at the moment.

@@gfire_productions great thanx. I remember a while back in order for my laptot to recognize the soundcard 2012 Mac i had to install the serato software where the Drivers of the sl4 used to hide. But now it does not recognize the sound Card. Im no wizz on the laptop New 2022 Macbook air m1 16gb unified memory. Ill try to trick it to recognize the soundcard cause i use it with traktor scratch pro 3. Shhhhhhhhhhh dont tell serato they suck. But traktor aint great either. I personally think vdj is the Best but i hate mapping and the GUI sucks Besides the create system whick recognize all hardrive on the laptop. I hoard music 4tb full and want more.

Doesn’t work with 2014 big Sur MacBook Pro, Rane 72 serato mixer. Uploaded big sur now mixer not working properly. No loop, no cue no wave display. Very expensive mixer now useless.

If you have Rane SL1 SL2 SL3 SL4 box, this will not work. Because Rane decided to stop supporting these. Yes, you are fxgged! Go to Rane and Serato webpages and fill out a contact form and tell them what you think about it. They'll give you 'We can't do nothing about it' answers. Just go ahead and keep answering to those replies.

I 100% percent agree Dizzy Dee. Believe it or not we as a collective of entertainers, dos and sound guys and gals. Have more power than we know when we all come together to petition these manufacturers to update software is to support certain hardware. I personally have witnessed some updates made to some of my gear because enough people as asked for the same updates continually. I do however realize that some companies will at some point move on from older technology and move forward into the new way of doing things. I personally think it could be a simple fix for the Rane SL series interfaces but then again can you expect them to continue updates for the Apple iPhone 3? I will get with the weather and rain and do my part though.
