U.S. Marine Corps, Sgt. Maj. Mike Tuttle (Ret.) gives us an inside look during the field force cycle of training held at the Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape course in Maine. SERE is an advanced code of conduct course. All military personnel get their initial code-of-conduct instruction during basic training, where they are taught an American service member's legal responsibilities if captured by enemy forces. SERE goes beyond that and it starts with survival.

Been there done that (1983)! Fond memories of the "BOX" and the all night torture sessions! They didn't show that part ;-)

Just graduated!! Excellent experience. I went to Kittery, ME for my training as an Aircrewman. Possibly best training ever.

When I was a teenager I went to a survival school in Maine and the military staff at this school donated a lot of winter survival gear to us. The school was Redington Pond School only existed for 6 years in the 70's

The last one counts as additional or advanced training which can be requested but is often denied because of the Marines already spending that money on that training but you are right about all those/

I know this area well and my sister has a house nearby. Are not you worried about Navy men wandering off the property and civilian incursion by people hiking the Appalachian Trail in the good weather months? What about hunters? That area is pretty well wide open as far as I can tell. Thanks for posting the video.

Was there (Naval Aircrew) in late spring 1972 Rangeley Mountain Maine ........Brutal, but was well worth it, and I would not do it again for anything. Luckly you only have to do it once in a career. I now have a much better understanding of what my deceased Father experienced as a WWII POW. What did I learn? go to any lengths, suffer any hardship so as NOT to be captured, and if I was captured this training just might save your life (but no guarantee's). PS; there were also two Army Rangers with us and I can tell you they are worthy or their reputation.

I went through it up in Rangely in 1980. Was an AW with Patron 26. Nothin' for nothin' but we didn't get backpacks, snowshoes, or ponchos. I lost 10 lbs and the Commissar beat the piss out of me in Hard Cell. Oh, the fond memories.

thats incorrect. You can also be an AirCrew member or simply a Marine Officer who attained the rank of Major or higher. You can also request to go to SERE as an incentive for reenlistment. However, if you choose the final option, it's incredibly difficult because they'll only take the best of the best Marines to go.

Recon is totally different. Recon is SOC which basically means there at the disposal of the Marines only. MARSOC is in SOCOM and is at the disposal of anyone who needs them. MARSOC Marines get better weapons also because SOCOM has its own budget.

Its the Marines so its going to hold that Marine intensity. Nothing in the Marines is easy. To become a SERE instructor you would have to go through it first and become a Recon, Force Recon, or MARSOC Marine first.

What they don't mention is the torture. The reason our troops are so comfortable torturing detainees is because they learn those techniques in this school.

+Morgan Norman stfu i cant stand people like you have you ever seen what these fuckers are capable of? you think its so wrong for us to interogate somebody who would have no problem sawing your head off your shoulders with a dull wood blade?

@ronshimkus5137 8 лет назад
+skidrowsux1977 I agree with David Drew, stfu, I'm a Marine, been there, done that, if you have'n't then shut the fuck up, you have no clue what it takes, and believe me when I say, it takes a lot. It rips your insides out and replaces it with an empty dark hole that maybe, just maybe will be filled again one day
