Seriously though. I was blown away when I realized that Serena and her sister are pushing 40, I thought they were in their later 20s, maybe 31 tops. They have fantastic genes. Generally you have to pick between your face or your body when you're an athlete, the Williams sisters seem to be an exception.
As a Filipino-American, I love coconut but not on my face. Young coconut water and its young soft meat is a perfect drink. It's loaded with vitamins and minerals and when served cold, it's a very nutritious & refreshing drink. Thank you, Susan for your honesty and tons of infos you share with your audience 🙂
While this all true, it’s still absolutely insane. As an Aesthetician, this made my insides burn 😩. Just because she gets facials, that has nothing to do with at home care. What your Esthetician does, is deep clean/treat your skin. You on the other hand have to TAKE CARE of your skin all those other days until you go back. That’s like going to get your hair done, and doing absolutely nothing after to maintain, keep it looking neat and expecting it to look the same way the next time you go back. I wish more black women would educate themselves on proper skincare, and stop thinking that good skin means just coconut oil or Vaseline is skincare, because it’s not. Black actually does crack especially when not taken care of properly....
@@Babyduzzit Was about to write this! A healthy lifestyle makes such a difference, my skin gets a loooot better when I try to work out till I really sweat and drink a lot of water and cook fresh food, It doesn't matter how great and expensive your Skincare Routine is if you have a sloppy lifestyle.
Susan, thank god you're a sane person who addressed the idea of her putting the vitamin C/retinol product on her 1 and 1/2 year old daughter. While I love and respect Serena, that was the most stressful skincare routine I have ever seen in the series as it was, and then putting those products on her child is what nearly made my jaw drop in shock. I mentioned my concern about that in the comments of the original video when it first came out and said that I hope someone close to Serena will one day give her a heads up to skip putting that on her baby. I said that it's worrisome to think about what the damaging effects could be of further sensitizing a baby's already sensitive skin at such a young age with the use of actives (imagine the potential for premature sun damage!). I received a TON of bitter and bullying replies calling me a mommy hater and many more even worse names and accusations. Kind of crazy. I think there was only one single woman in the replies who pointed out that I had never said anything insulting, just expressed my concerns and that I had Serena and her daughter's best interests in mind. Who knows if Serena will ever realize these points, but I also just wanted to potentially educate any other moms watching the video who might think it's cute to let children use mommy's products too. Couldn't believe the overblown reaction I received to that! So glad to see that you agree. Very validating.
Yes, I saw your comment and all the stupid replies. The people saying, "she is a good mom and she would never do anything to harm her child" are just silly. Of course, she wouldn't INTENTIONALLY do something to hurt her child. That is the point. She likely doesn't know that Vitamin C is an active or that it has retinol in it. She thinks it is just another moisturizer, but it isn't. I really, really hope she is slathering that baby in SPF every morning because the sun is damaging enough without the added retinol and vitamin c, so just imagine how much that is being multiplied when she applies it to her child's face? I really hope someone close to her does tell Serena soon that she shouldn't be doing that.
@@kenetrice Yes! Exactly! You nailed the points I was making in those comments. Glad you understand. It's really worrying, and I wish there was some way to shoot her a message and know for sure that she'll see it. I know how much her and her family love that child, so I'm holding out hope that someone close to her will realize the intensity of the ingredients and respectfully mention it to her since her routine is up for viewing now.
@@brittany3095 It is pretty surprising that Serena is making that mistake, but I think Susan made a very good point when she pointed out that if you don't know anything about what vitamin C does when it's applied topically to the skin, you might think it sounds pretty harmless... I guess most people just think of it being good for your health/immune system when ingested, so they would never imagine how powerful it can be when used in our skincare.
It's not fair. Some people with perfect skin sometimes have terrible skincare habits or do the bare minimum and NEVER break out while us problem skin folks spend a fortune on products and treatments and still don't have clear skin! 😩😩😭
Well, maybe you have just been told that the cheap natural stuff is bad for your skin. Poeple who have high blood presure get all kind of drugs for it when it is actually cheaper to start by organising your diet, making sport. Many won't need any meds once they change their eating habits. I'm with Serena, coconut oil all the way, never have breakouts.
@@prizescu that's just because you're lucky! You have resilient skin like Serena probably, so it must be so easy haha. I have pretty problematic skin, so it's a struggle. Just saying, people do genuinely have problem skin and need to use expensive products, so don't dismiss that because your skin is easy to deal with.
I was really hoping that her daughter was in her teens or something. I’m cringing thinking about putting an L-Ascorbic Acid or Vitamin A product on my 4 year old son’s face.
Do you all cringe when people put prescribed steroid creams on babies and toddlers with eczema...creams that can do them harm, all because their parents don't like how their skin looks? If not, stop clutching your cheap faux pearls.
@@silvernblack21 that example could not be more different. A prescription medication is from a doctor who knows the medication is safe for children and it’s also necessary for a skin disorder. Ascorbic acid is highly acidic, exfoliating, and irritating... not for kids, not being used for an actual medical reason, and not supervised by a pediatrician.
Definitely agree but I also think it's not that serious and in the social and political climate in which we exist, commenting fun (trendy) little quips sans any malice about a skincare routine is no biggy 😋 But for everyone 'over' oop... "Honestly expected Serena to have a bomb ass killer routine. Was disappointed too and it's not even the coconut oil that made me oof."
I’m a recent subscriber and I’ve been binge watching your videos for the past 2 days! I love these reaction videos! I’m learning soo much and I need to go shopping to make sure my skincare routine is down ❤️
Well, she's stunning, a world class athlete has a beautiful family and is an all around icon and positive role model so this just proves she's not perfect .... but still close damn close! 💜
@@brittanyjones6250 bad skincare practise catches up to you. her skin is resilient now but when aging begins to hit it won't be. whether that happens in 30s or 70s, doesn't matter. take care of your skin.
I wish you could tag each one of these celebs to your videos so they can hear your recommendations and they can also learn how to improve their routines.
Omg Susan I have been waiting for this reaction! You’re so sweet and have such a beautiful heart that’s why your reactions are so innocent and pure! Lol
Susan your the best! I been watching your videos for the past year and you helped me fix my skin care routine. I had major dry patches but I was oily at the same time. I was so confused and didn’t know what to do with my skin. Now after following a few of your tips and fixing the order I apply my skin care- my face is better then it has been in a looonggg time. I really appreciate that your so authentic and honest and i can truly see your trying to help your viewers. Keep it going, love you!
Happy you finally reacted to this video! Lol it’s been bothering me for weeks 😂. I cringed when she brought out the coconut oil. Aside from that....you can clearly see all that eye makeup STILL on until the end of the video. Also the spraying of the rose water at the end. Like girlllllll, I have so much respect for Serena so it’s so sad to see her mistreat her skin. 🥺
I tried the coconut oil fad for makeup removal. Omg at the breakouts it clogged my pores even with doing a double cleanse and left me feeling icky after.
9:22 the realness of that reaction hahah I'm dying. I think the coconut oil was one thing, but she was being so rough with her skin. Nothing patted, even under her eyes.
@Iago Melvin Torres can you stop being racist everywhere in the comment section. not every black person has good skin. I'm nigerian and I have acne bro shut up you're so annoying.
Im a black girl (me and Serena have the same skin tone too🥰) and I agree with Clara. Serena’s routine would END my skin😂. I think Clara made it very clear that Serena’s skin would be bad FOR HER and made not direct attacks against Serena. And hey, Serena obviously has great skin as said in the video so if she likes her skin care routine, I love it!
I use johnsons baby oil with aloe vera as a clensing oil to break down the makeup. It is perfect for that and it is also great for sealing all your serums in with that layer as a last step. I really think it is great
My favorite part is watching Susan dance back and forth and then get totally pulled out of her joy with COCONUT OIL 😆 the best thing about Susan is that even when she's grossed out by a part of someone's routine, she's so kind! You can tell she really cares about people. 🧸💕
I cringed so hard when she says she puts vitamin c on her baby! Strong vitamin c can make regular people like us break out so I wouldn’t want that on my baby.
Admittedly, my skincare routine was sooo similar to Serena‘s until I started watching your videos!! I did use olive oil instead of the coconut oil though, because you know what coconut oil can do to your pores. Now that I switched to a double cleanse, my face feels like a baby butt!
Coconut oil did wonders to my skin. I take the make up off the same way. If is not good for your skin doesn’t mean is not good for everyone. I live in Dominican Republic, I basically have coconuts in my front yard.
I'm breaking out just watching her routine! Totally hate coconut oil it breaks me out SO BADLY, I do not understand how people can use it on their face *screaming*
I really love in these videos how you always tell your viewers to keep I mind that their skin may not be able to handle one persons skin care routine. I think that’s a big problem on here, one youtuber will buy this expensive product and be like this is amazing, everyone needs this in their life. But it might not actually work for someone else!
do you recommend using any oils at all except products marketed as cleansing oils? for example, i use rosehip seed oil to dissolve my makeup and follow it with a clean reusable cotton pad to take off the excess and then do my second cleanse with a face wash. is that okay?
You also need to be cleansing your face for 60 seconds, both cleanses. People rub cleansers on their face and don’t give the cleanser time to do its job.
Something else that emulsifies oil and allows it to be rinsed clean from your skin is to use polysorbate 80. You might be fine using any polysorbate but specifically I know polysorbate 80 works. I don’t know the chemistry behind it but when you mix it with oil, it will become milky when it comes in contact with oil and rinse clean with no residue. For example the Clinique take the day off balm has polysorbate 80.
Whew! Tough to watch! I’m on the same page as Susan, coconut oil is so occlusive, and I could still see lots of makeup. The vitamin C and serums can’t get in-
I commented on the original video about how she was putting the vitamin c serum on her baby’s face and a bunch of people got Really Upset that I was concerned for a child’s safety
I've been using coconut oil for about 2 years now to remove my makeup and its the best for my skin.. I tried your advice on different oil cleanser and it did not work out for me at all. I end up going right back to my coconut oil. I really think it depends on your skin type!
I use fractionated coconut oil to melt my makeup, then remove it with a wet microfiber face cloth, then cleanse with Vanicream cleanser (followed by my serums, oils, and moisturizer). I use CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser in the morning (or whenever I'm not wearing makeup).
omg I shivered at the coconut oil and I actually do use it as a cleansing oil! But then I follow up with bioderma to take it off and then a face cleanser!
The Oil Cleansing Method aka OCM is a legitimate way to remove makeup and was popular before cleansing oils and balms that rinse away became popular. But you really need to choose a good oil because it’s not emulsifying and you need to carefully remove with a damp wash cloth. I think lighter high linoelic acid oils are the way to go. I also think think OCM will cut it for full makeup if you’re not double cleansing.
I use coconut for all over my body and my face I have super dry skin and and it never breaks me out. I think that it always depends on your skin because my skin loves it DONT USE IT IF YOU HAVE BIG PORES AND OILY SKIN IT WILL BREAK YOU OUT
I've been using Hyaluronic Acid, Shea Butter, Moisturizer, Argan Oil and a mineral SPF 30 in the morning and Hyaluronic Acid, Moisturizer, Shea Butter, Vaseline and LRP Cicaplast Baum B5 in the evening + "Simple" (the brand) Cleanser and Micellar water (If I wore Make Up that day) and yes, even coconut oil on my body instead of bodylotion and this all even PREVENTS me from getting pimples/breakouts, my dry ass sahara skin sucks it all up like it's nothing. I just got a new tube of LRP Coldcream too.
seriously... I use coconut oil to remove my makeup... I wipe it off with a warm microfiber or muslin cloth, then use a cleansing cream or cleansing milk for my second cleanse. I have sensitive dry skin with rosacea. Since using this order of products, my skin has improved tremendously. I don't see the massive issue with coconut oil if its being removed properly and your cleansing again afterwards.
I think the reason why she doesn’t breakout is the fact that she is living a very active lifestyle. Trainings, the fitness routine, strict diet...getting ready for the Wimbledon and all that. She sweats a LOT
I recycle my empties for my toddler and fill them with mineral sunscreen and she uses a beauty blender to put on her “makeup.” I also fill some with water so she can play along at the end of the day. There are some shitty chemicals in our beauty products and my daughter doesn’t need that this early in the game.
