I’m 42 in Ireland and this Woman deserves so much love and respect. She had me watching tennis with excitement and passion. You will be missed on the courts serena.
@@mwashinski Wonder what you would do when a linesperson maliciously cheats you of multiple points? She has endured malice from you people about her looks, her physicality, her father, her marriage (Some have called her a golddigger when, in reality, she has about twice as many millions as he!), her beads,; claims that she is doping, that she faked the ankle injury which forced her to withdraw from one tourney, claims that their family would decide prior to Venus/Serena matches who would win (because, you know, all THOSE PEOPLE are dishonest!), claims that she is arrogant and overrated, vicious verbal attacks on her beloved sister, Venus and on her clothing, and the opinions of others denying she has been a remarkable athlete. And, she and Venus both bore all that nonsense with grace! But, being cheated DURING a game with a tournament on the line would rile any player! You same snipes had no problem with someone being angry with a linesperson nor a chair umpire, as long as it was a "white" man, it Jimmy Conners or that other guy. But, you want to rail on Serena for two ever outbursts till the cows come home?! Get over it already! She has, I imagine!
@@TruthSpeaking101 that's an awful lot of projection there. I've never said anything bad about her, other than the fact she threatened to kill someone.
My only reason why I started watching tennis retires. Will really miss you but your handwork lives on. You are the very best. Hope you succeed exceedingly in all of your other endeavors.
This can’t be true since she’s not even the greatest female tennis player. How can you say that nobody will ever achieve what she has when other players have already achieved the same or more?
@@PravoslavniVitez because your looking at it strictly from a grand slam point of view. the point is that williams was the most dominant female player ever
@@randymarsh7252 No, she wasn’t. Look at Navratilova’s peak 1982-1986. She won 427 matches and lost 14. She won 70 titles in only 5 years. Meanwhile Serena won 70 titles in 25 years. Steffi Graf had a 234-6 record in 1987-1989. She made 13 consecutive Slam finals (Serena’s best is 4) and won 8 of 9 Slams at one point. Serena was neither the most dominant nor the most consistent player of all time.
@@dp3909 Steffi is clearly better. Way more weeks at #1, way more titles, more YE #1, higher career win % and most importantly won the Golden Calendar Slam. She also has 6 Slams on all surfaces and won each of the Slams at least 4 times. She had a higher peak than Serena and was more dominant and consistent. She achieved more than Serena in half the time. And definitely had tougher competition than Serena (Navratilova, Evert, Seles and lots of other hall of famers). Serena never faced a top 10 all time great in her career, while Steffi played 13 Slam finals against such players.
I really won't miss Serena when she stops playing because for me she will never stop playing - why, I watch all her matches on RU-vid so many times as if it's the first time I am watching them - BUT SERIOUSLY, I WILL MISS YOU, SERENA. You have made tennis such a wonderful sport to watch - May God richly bless you and your family and all your endeavors!! Love always ❤❤❤💘💝💖💗💓💞💕❣
We love you Serena : you’ve had an amazing career in tennis!!!! The best female player of all time Enjoy this new chapter in your life. May GOD bless you and your family. XXXX
Iam so glad the way the us open is embracing Serena now , this should have been happening years and years ago , they never make her feel much at home as the only American player , playing in her country, no other American man or woman have won in the us open in yrs and she didn’t get much reckoning there but thank God now they are doing it because she is retiring ,SMH you go Serena a big ride or die fan forever
Legacy? What legacy?.. Oh yes, we will always remember for the great moments: Cursing, yelling, arguing with the empires, messing with the lines people, etc. The Serena & Venus Williams Circus is moving on, thank goodness.
@@karaiskakis5172 Yes her her her, as she deserves, she's a legend who's retiring, what's the problem 😂. It'll be the same for federer, nadal and djokovic when they retire too.
@@onestage146 Did Federer, Nadal, or Djokovic ever threaten to kill one of the line judges for making a call against them? No? So it was just Serena? Yeah, that's why nobody cares about her leaving.
@@mwashinski So if an athlete boils over then they can't get a ceremony when they retire and they can't talk about themselves? 😂 I guess Cristiano Ronaldo will get nothing then since he's headbutted someone and smacked a child's phone to the ground. And dont say "noone" lmao, speak for yourself, not me or the 20,000 fans and celebs who attended yesterday
@@mwashinski you've just explained why you don't like her (which you're entitled to think, but I personally dont hold grudges since she's rightly apologised and had therapy). That doesnt explain why she can't talk about her retirement when she's literally being asked about it lol. Your personal opinion on her is irrelevant here and in almost any other interview
On and off the court you truly generate tennis passion. To the tennis generations for all time you have written golden tennis pathways. Good luck and may the Lord bless you and all that are yours. Bravo
She went in knowing that she had nothing to prove. She may not have been the best but I don't think that these younger players are going to be out there as long as she and Venus has. Tennis wouldn't be what it is had they not been there.
In addition to her natural athleticism, bigger is stronger and more powerful. This is known in weightlifting circles. When you're cutting you get to a point where you need to reduce your weights because you can't lift as heavy on a diet. Also being satisfied helps one have a greater sense of well being. Serena has made room for people like the gymnast Katie Ohana (I hope I got her name right) to have a place in a sport that values smallness.
🎾🏆💚🎾🏆💚🎾🏆💚🎾🏆💚 Once you have mastered your craft it's good to retire and reflect and be there for others and help them master theirs. she's a mother and I can only Imagine the love and freedom she will have wth her daughter now. Thank you for your dedication and inspiration Serena Williams 🙏
Gayle King looks like she's ready to go 1 v 1 too! I know the odds are against Serena, but I love watching her battle through her adversities (post-child birth and currently juggling business, motherhood, and being an athlete). There's a trend of athletes retiring and then unretiring, but if this is Serena's last "hoorah," she's leaving the sports better than how she found it. Tennis has evolved, and Serena Williams is (one of) the most significant reasons.
Serena is truly a perfect positive individual that we all can learn from. She believes in herself and no matter what life throws at her she remains a positive attitude. There is no way she can win all these grand slams being negative. Serena Williams is more than a role model, more than an amazing athlete, Serena Williams is an INSPIRATION. 💕❤️👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Congratulations to you Serena. I enjoyed watching you play tennis and wishing you the best. You look great and I love your outfit too. Blessings to you and family. 🎉💕👏. My family and I send our love. 💕
Serena you are legendary. It wasn't about your wins for me, but your love and commitment for tennis showed every time you were on and off the court. Keep being you.
From South Africa, Serena, we salute you. We've always loved you and appreciated your wonderful talent and skills, your energy and being yourself, believing in yourself and your ability to balance your life commitments. You are the greatest ladies tennis player in the world! Thank you for entertaining us over the years. You will forever be in our hearts. You've touched young and old. Lastly, you looked stunning in your Royal Outfit. Real queens crown themselves. Much love. 💗❤️💕
@@tommyclark4914 What are you talking about?? The Grand Slams have nothing to do of what I said. Every sportsman/woman needs to retire. The decision of her retirement is correct, otherwise she will be loosing ridicously.
You are pressed! Beyoncé and Serena are very good friends! Serena just told Gayle in an interview that she loved the new album. The lyrics were very fitting too
Never ever give up and I love the way she made a shout-out to Compton California and I am looking forward to seeing team up with her sister Venus Williams.
@@dukdown Not to discredit her amazing career but Serena, Steffi and Martina are all greater. There is absolutely zero logic behind giving 32-player, Australian-only, amateur titles the same value as 100+-player, international, professional Open Era slams. Simply none.
...Simply want to cry. Don't go SERENA! You and VENUS = Tennis to the Max! It's like that Carly Simon song- "NOBODY DOES IT BETTER; BABY YOU'RE THE BEST ." EVERYONE KNOWS IT FOR SURE : SERENA GOAT PERIOD! THANK YOU GRACING OUR LIVES WITH YOURS WILLIAMS SISTERS. 🎾🎾🎾💖🥇🌹
To play 20 years and have no competition or rivalry. Just alone in that field for 20yrs. Not even her sister. At least Graf and Navratilova had competition.
I get Serena wanted Gayle to do this and any further interviews but why ? Gayle King has nothing to do with tennis and there are many other women who could do these interviews . Women who are associated with the sport who are and have been conducting the other interviews with the players. And yes I find Gayle King and her interrupting self annoying .
They are in the US and want all the drama and showbiz. Most likely they are making a documentary out of this and wanted everything to be about her that's why Gayle is the interviewer. She's the praise all black people type just like what she did with jussie smollett
