Dope song I was introduced to via the film Rush Hour 3. Love how free these two sound on this song. Almost aounds like they're freestyling verses over a sampled loop.
For whatever reason, in my 40 odd years I've never heard Serge's music before. Hearing this tonight right now for the first ever time sat in my old cottage in the Irish countryside it has hit me like Smells like teen spirit did when I was 16. Instant lifelong fan. BB is perfect and beautiful for her animal welfare work too x
In fact, you can notice the huge influence Serge Gainsbourg had on anglosaxon performers such as Jarvis Cocker (Pulp), Beck, Nick Cave or Matt Berningner (The National). Scott Walker and Serge Gainsbourg were actually the kings of baroque pop. Alternative and indie music owe too much to these two Gods.
Not really. He made his money 'aping' British teeny bop music. But I agree, he was ten leagues ahead of most of them, apart from the Beatles, Stones and the Who. The fascinating question is what wen wrong, why didn't French pop take over the world like French literature and philosophy had even just a few decades before. Even now, British and American people have a hightened sense of what France means to culture. It's one of the great losses of the marketing age.
Serge was very talented. His music is quite unique and captivating, and of course anything with BB in it and sung in French, adds to the beauty and magic!
It makes fun to sing/speak along with in french! These french lyrics (you actually mosty speaking like a poem or rap), i mean these sentences to speak with is like a artform and theatrical and again it makes sooooo much fun!!! It's soooo groovy and stylish with Brigitte Bardot and Serge Gainsbourg, how they acting, what a groovy and stylish generation, i wish i lived at this time period :D
Saw this song used brilliantly in a scene from season 6 in Mad Men. But I first heard it used as a sample by French artist, MC SOLAAR back in the early 90s. So glad I finally found the original. Dope track!
Did you read the story of Jesse James? About how he lived and how he died? You liked it huh? You want some more Well then listen to the story of Bonnie and Clyde Okay, so Clyde has a girlfriend She's beautiful and her name's Bonnie Together they're the Barrow gang Their names - Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow Bonnie and Clyde Bonnie and Clyde When I came to know Clyde long ago He was a loyal, honest, upright guy I really think it's society Which has spoilt me forever Bonnie and Clyde Bonnie and Clyde Oh what they wrote about her and I They say we're cold-blooded killers It ain't much fun but we got no choice But shut them up when they start shouting Bonnie and Clyde Bonnie and Clyde Every time a policeman gets killed Every time a garage or a bank gets robbed The police has no doubt about it It was done by Clyde Barrow, Bonnie Parker Bonnie and Clyde Bonnie and Clyde Now whenever we try and settle down When we go live in a furnished apartment Three days later it goes tac tac tac Tommy guns get back on us Bonnie and Clyde Bonnie and Clyde Sooner or later we'll fall together I don't care; I'm scared for Bonnie What does it matter if they freaking kill me I, Bonnie, am scared for Clyde Barrow Bonnie and Clyde Bonnie and Clyde Anyhow they couldn't get out of trouble The only way out was death But more than one followed them to Hell When Barrow and Bonnie Parker died Bonnie and Clyde
слышу впервые, т.к.
Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot: the most beautiful mind and the most beautiful body. Brigitte here imitates Nico of Velvet Undergound in singing. That's great.
yo, first of all: J Elect, appreciate that.. secondly.. have y'all ready the actual poem from Bonnie Parker that this song is based on? wasn't expecting to stumble across that..
