"Problem with 40 year old is that they think they know everything." Yeah, you are displaying that quite clearly Grey.

Well he’s the best example of it lol. Besides he already been trained, Nolan hasn’t so it’s a lot different

We don't know everything. We simply have experience. What you're doing, we've done. That's all it is

I guess Grey is glad that in a couple of years he would be eating his own words because J Nolan is the freaking MAN!

Well, given that I'm young, I was taught something from a younger age that an individual can always learn, no matter what age.

The captain was right. It’s harder to teach someone who thinks that they know a lot. Regardless if that person is old or young. You can only teach those; who are open to learning.

And since you are young, Grey and make you unlearn that horse-shit and teach you the opposite. If you were 40, you would never unlearn it. LOL!

honestly the PD needs to stop teasing nolan batout be 40 years old, he in my opinion is a great and mature cop

The best part about being in one's 40s is that people are (usually) past the point of needlessly trying to prove themselves.

Its not that he's 40. It's that he's 40 and just starting out. If he was that age with twenty plus years on the job it wouldn't be a problem.

I think while Grey didn't approve of Nolan he somewhat cares about Nolan's wellbeing even back then

If he didn't care about the well being of every officer under him, then Grey wouldn't deserve those Sgt stripes.

He flat out said that at the end of the first episode, he has no real problems with Nolan the person, but if Nolan succeeds he was afraid of what kind of recruits that would bring in.

There are benefits and downsides to everything. This goes both ways with having either a mature-age baby boomer or millenial-age college/high school graduate as a new trainee/apprentice in a job. The failure of a mentor/educator is to not afford them the same opportunity to excel in their new job and presume the worst in them; I would much rather see the best in them and work around the challenges that are unique to that trainee, because we are all different people at the end of the day. Having said that I've met my fair share of asshats in either groups, but there are twice as many brilliant trainees.

Nolan would actually be GenX, but otherwise agreed.

I mean, im 26 and everyone younger than me thinks they are hot shit and knows everything. Less to do with age, and more to do with attitude.

Very well. Faced a tough call like this on his first day and didn't break, plus got the job done. Cant expect more from a newbie.

Classic example of stereo typing someone - Now also called profiling. Assess the INDIVIDUAL. You can use stereotypes as far as what you might expect, but also be prepared for someone who doesn't fit that "Type" profile.
