Sergei Vasilenko (1872-1956) : Concerto in C minor for trumpet and orchestra Op. 113 (ca. 1945) 

The orchestral setting that Vasilenko gives the solo trumpet is nothing short of superb. Its contrasting moods, including beautiful moments for strings and woodwinds, are quite breathtaking.
