Sergey Khachatryan plays Sibelius Violin Concerto with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra (27.09.2013). Conductor Tugan Sokhiev. An interview with Sergey Khachatryan before the concert.
Wow, what a player. Can't wait for the Khachaturian concerto. Such feeling and musicianship that is lacking in most young players today. I can just feel every note, amazing.
Mistakes? If yes, so what? It's not about acrobacy, it's about music. Perfection is just boring and not interesting. And Sergey is one of the greatest and finest musicians of today. What a sensitive and above all natural play! For me this is the best Sibelius concerto since Christian Ferras.
+Erik Vertriest My personal favourite is the Daivid Oistrakh Concert with Ormandy and the Philadelphia Philharmonic 1954. Nonetheless, I like this version! Also helps that it's live! :)
Erik Vertriest We have only one recording of this concerto without any mistake that's the Heifetz' who actually recorded this concerto for the very first time in 1935. Anybody else has some mistakes performing this.
I think he has incredibly strong color. This isn't common thing. You guys should feel this colorful interesting music. If he played very clearly and didn't have any mistake, it would be like a robot's performance.
He and kavakos and maybe Hillary Hahn are the only ones who played the low octaves from 24:00-24:44 incredible!! I saw him live this year in Norway for a Janine Janson replacement and I gotta tell you, he might have been better
Meines Erachtens bringt man einem Künstler dann die richtige Achtung entgegen, wenn er sich mittels Dolmetscher in seiner eigenen Sprache (Armenisch) ausdrücken kann. Oder?!
Too many mistakes in too many crucial parts.. so like okay it's one thing to say he was still musically this or that blah blah... But He is missing intonation to the point where it is just a wrong note or can not keep the beat at the end of the 3rd movement for ex. He should use diff fingerings for some parts for some really do not do him justice amen nice bro
Schaukel Z lol if the only thing you see are mistakes you have no business trying to take in any art form. Why don't you go watch a video on accounting? I think that's more you're style.
perhaps the performance was technically off. i heard him play the sibelius live with the new york philharmonic and it was impeccable, not to mention poetic and thrilling.
