This video DOES NOT belong to me. It belongs to NBC, or Leno Show or Sergio Mendes or the Black Eyed Peas, and is being shared just for sharing. No copyright infringement is intended.
@@jamesgough3938 oh for sure, the originals are perfection and the ladies on the vocals sound like Angels. I listen to the originals of fool on the hill and Mais que nada all the time. Sergio Mendez's tunes are timeless and priceless. He is my favorite.
Zoomer here and I can safely say that Rio has spread the word of this amazing song. I have some bias going in because it’s my second favorite film of all time (Gundam Thunderbolt December Sky takes the number 1 spot), but Rio exposed me to how great Brazilian music is
Sorry guys but I love this version. A breath of fresh air from the black eyed peas. Great help from the legendary sergio mendes! What a good collaboration!
I loved his song when I was a kid. I grew up with Beethoven, Belafonte, Beatles, Bossa Nova, Soul, Funk, Motown, glam rock and electronic dance music. I love to see the evolution of music and also this mix of present (Black I'd Peas) and past (Sergio Mendez). It's fabulous how the newer generation pay their respect and add their touch to the masters who came before them and together build more music history.,
Cala a boca!
Robert Dziegielewski I'm a fan of cross-generational collaborations. With that said, I would've preferred anyone else other than the Black Eyed Peas here -- for one thing, the song wouldn't have started off with them saying their own name.
This was my big sisters favorite song back when we were growing up in the 70's. Incidentally I have it as her ring tone :) Great to see the younger generation getting introduced to Sergio!! Im sure that 80's kids like myself knew Sergio from his 80's hit "Never Gonna let you go"
Sergio you are larger than life!!! you mark and inspire my childhood in Mexico!! Love and Respect Sergio eres eternooooo!!! Marcaste mi infancia saludos desde Mexico!! amor y respeto para vc
Had a few albums of SM and Brazil 66 growing up in the 60s and this song was on the Look Around album. I like this mash-up and I believe the blonde in the background was one of the original singers in Brazil '66. If you want to see a really sexy version of this song, check out Nossa's version.
Sorry for all this destructive critics that don't know anything about art and its freedom to renovate. Everything is great in this version, the beat, the striking tempo, powerful and rythmic words and finally gorgeus Fergie dancing and looking like a real very hot brazilian, didn´t you see her belly dance and the shuolder shaking? Come on...
Some of the comments below are pathetic. As a music lover and someone who is fond of Sergio Mendes...I applaud his effort and attempt at trying to stay current. This production attempt was not to replace the original work but to pay homage to it and introduce a new audience of music lover who may want to know and explore Mendes' music and artistry more. The above video brings to mind his production of the early 80's ballad "Never Gonna Let You Go." Anyway it is sad that many of the comments below are no doubt passionate about music but are equally passionate in their hatred, and ignorance, and undoubtedly racism. I salute you Mr. Mendes and though I prefer your early work, your production and blending of artistic styles on "Timeless" proves just how timeless you and your music are.
We don't "modernize" Beethoven, Mahler and Handel, why should classic Bossa Nova be any different ? This catering to millennials makes me sick. Learn to appreciate different musical genres.
your reasoning, too, is judgmental, disillusioned and hate filled. you like it...many don't...get over it - that's the way of the world. if one pays homage to a time-tested song, and it sounds like someone hitting a baby with a cat, the homage has lost its objective. you must be deaf not to notice this un-artful rendition, regardless if serge is playing or or not. i have his music going back to 1968 coming forward. why he allowed this is beyond my understanding. keeping relevant and broadcasting your music to another generation could have been executed with a different "current" band waaay-better than what BEP did here.
On January 30, 2022, I get to see Herb Albert and Lani Hall in concert at the Wyly Theatre in Dallas. Relatively small venue…600 people. I just can’t wait. God, I hope she sings this fantastic song.
I like every version of this song that I have heard. When a song is great people want to sing it. I also like the fact that this means Americans will get exposure to more Brazilian songs.
Maria Capps this is no good exposure, that’s for sure! It doesn’t reflect Brazilian music or dance at all! Funny thing I love both Sergio Mendes and Black Eyed Peas but they managed to kill both this song and Brazilian samba dance! Ouch!!!!
SERGIO MENDEZ NO QUIERE MORIR CON ESTA VERSION DE UNA DE SUS GRANDES CANCIONES Y DE SEGURO NO HA MUERTO ALIVE AND KICKING ESTÁ VIVITO Y TOCANDO COMO LOS DIOSES
lionkingmegafan Rodriguez Couldn’t stop laughing when I read your comment!!! So on target! If I may “answer” your question, that was Fergie’s idea of speaking Portuguese....LOL... too much!
Fergie andded a great precence, you are right, but at least they introduce this Music to a new generation. And Sergio Méndez was so trill that he did'n mind the new arrengments....
I can't read Portuguese, so why so many down votes??? It's a fun video. Like people say below, to introduce this to the young people is a good thing because most new music SUCKS....
The song was sensational when done by the legendary Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66. Unfortunately the expletive laden & self indulgent lyrics in general and the Black Eyed Peas involvement in particular dismantled a potential aurally aesthetic experience making it as welcoming an experience to the senses as another Kim Jong-Un nuclear missile is to world peace.
¿WHY so much HATE ON FERGIE in the comments? I´m NOT a fan of hers (neither of the Black Eyed peas, for that matter) but the girl isn´t doing anything wrong. She looks very sexy when dancing (¿who cares if it´s not a samba dance?), she seems to be having a great time, and, most importantly, she shows friendliness and RESPECT for Sergio Mendes, so..... ¿what is there to bitch about?
