Sad to see all the comments saying "rap ruined the song" when it was whole-heartedly intended and thoughtfully mixed in. This is one of my favorite musical collaborations and the hateful comments really highlight some people's inability to accept things that differ from what they're used to.
So many haters on the rap. Sergio did an album with the Black Eyed Peas it was pretty damn good and it introduced Sergio's music to a whole new generation. True Artists are never scared to try something new and see if it works. It's rare that an artist not try anything outside their normal comfort zone. Anyway, I love Hybrid music if done well. I love Yo Yo Ma's take on Argentine Tango music, just like I love Sergio's work with hip hop. Being open to any and everything is what being open minded is all about. Anyway there are bad artists in every genre just like there are amazing ones.
Well that went from awesome to well south about half way. Just not my thing after the 3 Ladies spooling out 1- note Samba, like a bus came round the corner unexpectedly.
They sing about "people who can talk and talk and talk and just say nothing". Then the yo in the yellow shirt comes out and does exactly that. The irony is deep...
For god's sake and "real" music, I'm going to be a little harsh ... please fire the rapper who has nothing to do in the midst of these musicians who worked hard, often with boredom (playing scale exercises is imperative to master music and acquire technique but it's very boring), slowly, for a long time like hard work without taking any pleasure, to reach the musical level of Sergio Mendes and his musicians. This rapper who gesticulates and puts himself forward on the stage in front of the real musicians, to blast a text that really harms the musical performance. It has no place here. I don't know why we decided to put him on stage.
yea ! first part was great ! then...why the Rap ?? wish there was a real Chromatic Harp player , not a keyboard programmed to sound like a Harmonica . phew !
denim98 Hello I'm the vocalist in the middle, the Black woman. Sergio hired me because I sing Bossa Nova and Jazz. The younger blonde lady also sings Bossa and Jazz. The other vocalist is Sergio's wife, a Bossa Nova superstar from Brasil. Do some research!
and don't mix any ingredients from different cultures when you cook Ryo. you might actually come with something new and exciting. you want to eat schnitzel and potatoes or kim chee and rice and beef like mama made it your whole life go ahead, you fuddy duddy stuck in the mud square. I like new flavors. fusion cooking and jazz is delicious. I like mom's cooking , and comidas tradicionales puro but sometimes , let s try something new. shiitake mushrooms in a salad, a vegetable "eintopf" or on focaccia. yum. the analogy is valid. don't argue . loosen up, shut up and go try some new food and flavors in music too.
@@AD-go8bx onion /garlic flavored, cheese flavored, ketchup-flavored potato chips, , whatever....these do NOT not taste like POTATO. What the heck is wrong with potato flavor?! It's subtle, it's beautiful, it's potato-y! it's awesome! Ancient Buddhist wisdom = don't try to be something you are not!
Don't degrade your music so good without the rap,, you can hear that on every radio station , it's terrible how is taking over good music, trust me it's not good,, rap took over after the Disco era,, I knew things were doomed after that.
This has got to be my favorite song on you tube! Sergio's incredible keyboard playing during the rap grabs you and doesn't let go. Sergio obviously likes the rap - he's smiling :)
Legitimately cringy comment. This is their intended sound and creation. You don't like things that differ from what you're used to? Stick your head back in the sand and keep replaying your old CDs.
Sergio Mendes is one of the last remaining Brazilian artists that had the art of mixing, samba and bossa nova with jazz. And last years,Sergio proved his continuing evolving musical mind, mixing Brazilian music With hip hop and Rap. I love it-.Yo only must give your ear and your mind to the music.
Pure?? What is your definition of pure and why do you think the music you prefer is "pure"? There has pretty much always been a melding of cultures, sounds and styles in music, throughout human history. This is their intended creation. You don't like it because it has rap? I imagine you shudder at the thought of cookies in your vanilla ice cream too.
I already said that rap has saturated everything.. There's nothing complex about understanding that. My definition of pure? In this context, it is a composition that is original and devised from the composer's / musicians own concept...that is abjectly missing in the rap genre as that genre has morphed into a highly derivative form that seeks help in order to merely be produced. That is a very dismal prospect and downright played out. It's long overdue for a return to originality otherwise our future musical Legacy will result from a sample that is sampled. That is laughably derivative. 😫😪
@@btinsley1 Interesting. How much do you actually know about the rap genre and its artists? You sound like you have a very surface level understanding, if that, given your response. It's also naive to assume that the compositions you like are 100% original.
Maravilloso, fantástico hace una música que regenera el alma. Desprende alegría y buen gusto en sus canciones no deje de hacerlo Sr. Sergio Mendes!!!!!!!, Nunca!!!!!!
