Our courts fail children so badly. Kallinger is convicted of seriously abusing his children thanks to those children speaking up, but he gets sent back home with them after a few months in jail. What, is he expected to have learned his lesson? "Thanks for getting me put in the slammer, kids, I will definitely respect you and treat you decently now!" There has to be a better way to deal with parents who abuse their children than putting the wolf back in the henhouse.
I think this is a big reason why some mothers don't leave abusive relationships. They know if they do, they risk a very high likelihood of their children being left alone in the home without them there as protection. Too often, even in the worst cases, they give them back unsupervised visitation after classes. To them, it seems too big a risk. I can see that.
There’s a bigger, more endemic societal issue. What do you do with abused children? They can’t be whisked away to loving homes. Foster care? CPS? Put the parent in prison forever? The foster care system is a part of the larger machine itself. Prisons are a whole issue themselves. The abuser can’t or won’t be reformed just like that, the children have nowhere else to go. So many problems with no solutions just domino down the line.
This guy was very scary. I lived in the town when this happened. He was walking around many streets, knocking on doors trying to get in. I can still remember the phone call I got from my friend telling me what happened. The girl that died was a friend of her sisters. So sad. RIP Maria.
@@mariebernier3076 Dogs are home security as well....the best kind really. :) Burglars/home invaders will never choose a house with a dog usually. People used to have geese in the old days as alarm systems...but yeah, this person lives in the states so a gun would be home security, decent locks and so on as well. Add a dog to that mix and you're pretty safe i would say.

A story of a serial killer not far from my home. I am sure if I hadn't lost my dad a year ago he would know about this story. Thanks for all the work put into this and changing words was not as noticeable at all. It was really nice hearing about something so close to me .
Fr right, while theres way bigger issues like making sure everyone has a living wage, and healthcare that could easily be payed by bezos alone, and testing the millions of back logged sexual assault test kits, yet people are seriously still sad about words lol

"I'm going to plead not guilty, but if you find me guilty, then I'm insane." If voices told him to burn his property, did they also tell him to take out the insurance beforehand?
Should try being in a womens prison, we all sync'd , it was quite funny, especially when PMS kicked in just before. We would all be having pre- tampon tantrums. My 2 daughters and I all start within days of each other. Talking to my gynecologist, he said he had never heard of it before. Told him " it definitely happens"
You mean the same humanity that harbors health care workers, rescue workers, paramedics, doctors, social workers, animal rescuers, loving parents? _That_ humanity?
It's hard to understand why someone who murders is ever given anything but natural life in prison. Why are we letting monsters walk amongst us... Amongst our children?
It's worse in Britain and Canada and Australia. I watch a lot of these true crime videos of British murder cases. They get absolutely ridiculous sentences... 8 years and put back on the street. There's a VERY small amount of people in Britain prisons who are serving no release sentences. Canada and Australia are equally ridiculous!
@@billyboycinci clearly works tho when the USA just lock up anyone that can be a threat and still have way more murders, shootings etc than the countries with low sentences. If you watched more interviews of this guy, you would see that he is mentally unstable. Guy thought he was gonna kill millions and then kill himself to become god. Usa is way to blind on mental health so they can blame themselves for all the shootings and serial killers. Alot of these could have been prevented with a better system.
“We “don’t. There is no judicial discretion anymore. There is mandatory sentencing. No need for judges anymore. We may as well employ a computer to hand out sentences.
It depends on the reason that they committed murder. If they killed someone in self defense, or someone who harmed a family member, then I could see letting them out eventually, or not giving them any prison time at all (in a clear case of self defense). If someone is a serial killer or rapist, like in this video the guy was a sick, perverted POS, they should be locked up forever or executed. There is no reason to have someone like that walking around free in society.(or walking around at all anywhere really)
He had been accused of three counts of abuse. When he and his wife were questioned they readily admitted to severely and cruelly abusing their children. ..Wait what?
I don't. Those men assaulted, tortured, and killed multiple people. They're not funny, and I don't find it delightful. That and the 'Pop Goes the Weasel' opening make me look at this channel sideways, but I have no complaints otherwise.
@@benjaminbradley4771 ~ Not so. I doubt I'd have realised the relevance of Ms. Shoes' name to this doco had you not have made your comment. You made me look twice! Fun to be had in the comment section!
This is a case that fascinated me as soon as i heard about it. This is by far the most thorough information I've encountered anywhere. Thanks for the hard work and keep it up! You are my favorite RU-vid channel by far and i hope you financally prosper for this man
Fantastic work as always. Thank you for always staying true to the facts and reporting them, as horrific and tragic as they may be. You do amazing work
My uneducated hypothesis is this: If his murders were to compensate for his "manhood" being compromised, involving his son would be just another way to boost his ego. Every father I know that has a problem with his masculinity is quick to live vicariously through (what he views as) his potentially superior male progeny, by encouraging them to play full-contact sports and aggressively date females. Think about the plain, overweight dad with the handsome and athletic son...he pushes his boy to excel, because he never could. These acts are socially acceptable manifestations of frail masculinity under the guise of male bonding...so it'd make sense (in a twisted way) that this father wanted to enhance the feelings of the act by getting his son to participate in what he viewed as empowering. In this case, being a criminal.
@@SpicyTexan64 What does that even have to do with the actual point of the original poster? He was talking about how some people are horrible, not race or taxonomy.
The fact that he was blaming his son and then a ghost for his actions in the end is a pretty good indicator that he knew what he was doing. It seems really narcissistic at the end to not accept any blame and paint own his child(though this obviously didn't mean much given how he treats his children) as the crazier one.
I really find it ridiculous that those words can't be mentioned on youtube, it will end up not giving the right picture of the crime, the agony these people went through, and what kind of monsters these are.
It's highly ridiculous when cable tv has no issues using these words. Kids can watch tv and hear these words. Advertisers still pay around those shows. It's bs.
Once again. The advertiser control what is shown where. In general they don't care where anything is shown. However the cancel mobs tend to like taking things out of context. So if you had a nike ad and people got angry nike of course would pull the add. RU-vid AI that detects words and usage also does not have the ability to determine context in how a word is being used as well.
It is sickening to see how the courts repeatedly fail children . Time and again , year after year . Even with overwhelming evidence , the courts and judges repeatedly let the abuse continue. May these individuals along with the perpetrators suffer .
@@whaleymom76 In the UK social services receive money for every child they place into "care" it's a money making scheme at best, and a deliberate abuse at worst.
The system fails women and children all the time. We’re going backwards, people, or haven’t you noticed? One f’ed up country - actually, one f’ed up world.
I regularly feel extreme rage when I see how often kids are repeatedly failed and left to unbridled abuse. That’s why I’m dedicating my life now to changing this cycle.
That's weird. I listen to other crime channels sometimes, they say 'sexual assault' ( I actually think it's a disgrace not to be able to mention the horrible reality of what people go through, like it's bad taste) and they don't get blocked from publishing. They must really be on your case!
This is something i fear (rape).. But could my period save me? One can HOPE a man turn away just from that. Seriously... Teach your sons not to rape....
@@keryeeastin4022 Teach your sons not to rape...what?! The vast majority of men and boys will never rape anyone. This is not normal behavior and to suggest otherwise is insane. That's like me saying "teach your daughters not to murder their own children." I have a better idea, raise your children to be upstanding members of society. Teach children what personal responsibility is and be mindful of what they consume on a daily basis. Do not expect the schools to be the parent. Never blame an inanimate object for the crimes people commit. Lastly, punish parents their shirk their responsibilities.
@@lynseylou7318 What's wrong, you get a little flash of anger when people call you out on your nonsense? News flash, we already punish parents to a certain degree for not reeling in their children and it has been proven to work. I just can't believe it! I grew up with nursery rhymes. We sang and danced them! (Ok, I'm sorta old) The first time I heard your opening tune I thought, oh yes "pop goes the weasel". I have heard it now many, many times while watching your excellent channel and only today did I realise that I don't know the nursery rhyme. I googled it and I honestly don't think I have ever heard the whole thing before. Fits your subject SO well! Even more KUDOS to u. Well done!
What about.... " assaulted sexually", "assault in a sexual manner"? It is flat out stupid that you can't use factual words! You do a great job in any case, thank you and don't let the loony big brothers bug you.!
I hate how they completely sensor those words you mention at the start. Like yes, it is traumatic for some people, but it’s a part of life and it’s an integral part of these stories. It is what it is I guess :/
Yeah, as a survivor, I think someone who finds the word itself traumatizing would not be consuming this kind of material, in the first place. Many with an interest in true crime are here because we were victims of sexual violence and we know what we can handle. RU-vid’s rules don’t make sense. I’m surprised they have time, when they’re so busy censoring discussions about covid.
Bloody pathetic. Rape is rape. Scum bags need to be changed with it. Not some another totally stupid censored word(s). Another corporation that is run like a dictatorship.
@@edoboleyn As a survivor, the censoring of the word that describes what was done to me like it’s such a dirty unmentionable thing it can’t even be uttered out loud is what hurts. I lived with the dirty feeling of having to shut up about my trauma to spare others from the discomfort of having to even think about it. I had to carry it like it was a secret, even after it stopped being a secret to anyone. Rape? You can’t talk about that. Too dirty. Too pornographic. Too unmentionable for anything but the therapy couch, and then only because you pay them to listen. I honestly don’t see how putting “rape” (etc) on a “dirty words list” of yucky icky grossness along with any number of other obscenities and slurs is doing victims any favors. Talk about stigmatization! Whenever I hear that word censored I get a twinge of shame activation. Not necessarily about the rape itself (I’m past blaming myself for that), but shame that I ever wanted to or tried to talk about it in a world that apparently can’t handle the horror of the subject while simultaneously not taking it seriously as an important issue to discuss. No survivors who are still so deep in their trauma that hearing these words is deeply traumatic are going to be seeking out this kind of content, and if they do then they should probably try to work on taking control of their own media use. But censoring words like rape isn’t about shielding victims from retraumatization and it never was. It’s about shielding non-victims from the vague discomfort of “unseemliness” at the expense of victims and their ability to hear their experiences discussed openly without stigma.
It's not censored for survivors - it's censored because big advertisers like Disney and Apple don't want their company's associated with those words, and the technology isn't advanced enough to ensure they don't place an advert within a video using said words. So, instead, they've pressured RU-vid into banning the words. Utterly disgraceful.
Who is making the decisions what words can be said? I have heard other people on RU-vid using both words without any issues. Why are we supporting a platform that limits our free speech?
Nah it only applies to monetised vids, if you have enough Patreons or just don't care about money 💰 you can say anything. Sure someone will already have said this. Sorry deltarebelgirl!!! Didn't see your comment 😕

For a time, he was held in a correctional facility a few minutes from my home, in Waymart, PA. I have the book of "The Shoemaker". He was a brutal, crazed animal.
To understand the entire complex nature of this individual you should read the book "The Shoemaker" It all began with abusive adoptive parents who wanted a child they could train, "Joseph" (The father was a Shoemaker and wanted to train this boy in the trade) and then have that child take care of them in their old age. What they actually were, were ...Monsters! ...real ones!! Once you start to read that disturbing book you won't be able to put it down.
No. We dont. We understand him well enough. What you are saying is like supporting the claim that he turned into a monster because of his monster parents. Sorry thats just illogical and devoid of sense.
I like how that one doctor or lawyer helping to escort out the “crazyyyyy” Kallinger on a stretcher is also smoking a cigarette.. ahhhh.. the good ol days lol 46:20
Thanks. I really enjoyed this one. I had never heard of him but I saw people mentioning the book and I do remember that. I just never really knew what the book was about. I can’t believe he made his twelve year old son participate in the crimes. I hope once he was released he was able to have a decent life.
biggest tip i can give u as one of my favorite channels in youtube which i watch alott, subtitles are always helping i dont like too rewind and sometime listning while doing another thing subtitle can be very helpful
About the 30 minute mark, a newspaper gets the story completely wrong. Imagine. Sounds like an hourly occurrence in this day & age. Many Blessings to All 🙏 🇺🇸
I'm sure there is a special place for Kallinger's adoptive parents, too. Read the book "The Shoemaker" and you will be appalled at the way they treated him and the warped, religiously psychotic ideas instilled in him. I'm not defending what Kallinger did, but the book will give some insight into him. If you can't find a used copy of the book, a library may have it.
@@AlexaLake1 yeah that's true, I didn't read the book but there is one documentary based on him tells the horrific details of his life and his foster parents, I cried watching it. Since moving to the US, I never EVER open my front door unless it’s family! I’ve even had someone walk up to the front door and twist the handle to see if it was unlocked! 😐
Love the channel and keep up the good work. Sad to hear youtube is making you censor your own words :(. Also would it be possible to turn on auto generated subtitles on your videos?
I love this documentary other than the fact that you claim kallinger was exaggerating/faking his mental illness. He was very obviously deeply schizophrenic. Quite a number of professionals have analyzed him before his death and he is a classic case of extreme unchecked schizophrenia. Dr hickey (author of Serial killers and their victims 11th edition) has him listed as a literal textbook example of someone who is truly psychotic and Dr. Joel Norris said he’s he single most mentally ill human being he’s ever interviewed in his entire career. Also the victims of one of the break ins attest that he tied them all up, stared at the wall while mumbling to himself, and then left the house. That’s psychosis. This doesn’t make him innocent in any way (particularly with his son who’s murder he profited off of) but it seems very obvious that he’s wildly insane. Hickey says he thinks that the main reason why he was found sane was because he was literally so sick that other psychiatrists thought he was playing it up because they hadn’t seen anyone that schizophrenic before. Basically he says he was so insane that the other doctors thought “there’s no way someone can actually be this insane he’s obviously faking”. That being said if your main source is flora Schreiber I can understand not trusting her judgement because her psychology is outdated and sketchy and it is hard to find written sources that talk about this guy. Just my two cents as a criminology student who sees him pop up in textbooks all the time. Either way your content is amazing and I watch every single video :)
@@ppena4128 Yeah, cuz we always believe psychos who lied since they got caught and tried to convince everyone they were insane. Sure, let's believe what he says because he lived it. IN HIS FUCKING MIND.
As always I really enjoy your work. I Love the Music, it's awesome as well. Perfect fit. I always look forward to the ending with the Jeep. I was wondering as you have studied so many Serial Killer in order to put together such accurate and informative production of your videos if this sometimes is Lack of Nurture? I know this probably wont be a popular question but do you think that in some cases Society Created the Monster???? Such as the case of Aileen Wuornos. Aileen was completely crazy in the end, just watch her interview with Nick? the night before her execution, sonic pressure and the whole bit, so very sad, concerning and troubling. She really never had a chance and I wonder who she would have been if she had be born wanted, loved, nurtured. Awesome as always. Cat
First of all, Aileen was not really a monster in my opinion. I believe Tyra was the one to blame, she probably told her that she will leave if she doesn't get her money. Aileen was afraid of abandonment and this was her solution to the problem. And yes, society can create monsters in certain situations, but it's never one factor only. Abuse, bullying, abandonment, mental issues, head injury, neglect, drugs, alcohol. All of these on their own will not create a serial killer. They usually tick more than one box to become one.
Sorry, but SHE had a chance. It was her victims who did not. Don‘t confuse the perpetrator with the victim; criminals have a choice. Always. The unsuspecting and innocent victims are the ones who don‘t.
I love your videos, they are so much knowledge about horrific crimes committed by sick people. They help solve others by finding similarities due to M.O.
This is a great channel! I love watching/listening to your videos. Random question though, where I can I find your intro tune/theme song possibly in full length (if that exists) ? I am obsessed with it
