After seeing the first episode, I commented "Who would have ever thought that Rosie would be Jacks spirit animal." On the last episode we'll probably find out that Jack is adopting Rosie and sending her off to boarding school.
I never wanted someone to win Taskmaster so much as Jack Dee, because it would be hilarious to watch him think he's free from the show just to realise right after that he has to come back for the Champion of Champions.
@@EALoArt that's the exact thought I had about that task and I wondered why no one else did it, turns out even Alex didn't contemplate that it was never specified
I've got multiple strategies to play this game (I'll probably never get called to play the game unless they do a fan edition. You heard it here first ladies and gentlemen.) and one of them is to fastidiously hold Alex to the task's every word.
@@paulomatute4114 Yeah, but cracking it and then eating it is faster. You crack it in half, pull the paper out, pop the cookie in your mouth and start reading while you chew. If you just pop it in your mouth you have to take the time to stop chewing, find it in your mouth, pull it out, go back to chewing, then uncrumple and read it.
@@NovaGuardian985 idl mam cracking properly is a few seconds endeavor but in your mouth it's instant... Unless you did some messy whacky hand crack which could be quick but God forbid you'd spill bits of cookie
Andy made a friend of mine interested in cricket. He is German, and he asked me about Andy's costume and now he is giving it a go. The power of Taskmaster is real...
22:45 Emma figuring out moment is sooo good, very clever of her and she looks so happy! And then followed by just randomnly guessing foods for a long time
if she hadn't been SO impressive with catching the lying and with her questions for figuring out the money, I think everyone would be making fun of her insanely specific food guesses, but the smart really did outshine the unhinged!
Haha that was great. I assumed she would go straight for narrowing it down. Is it a vegetable? fruit? and so on. But buzzing through just about everything was definitely more funny.
Oops. Andy nods at 24:40, but his teammates did not see, so maybe it would not have counted. But it broke the lying rule and the nodding rule. Of course, Jack’s performance might have earned the other team about -45, so I guess it worked out. Lol
The implosion of captain jackie and the hotdog will go down in history as one of the greatest taskmaster tragedies of all time, right alongside the foot of joe wilkinson and the general existence of john kearns
I used to wonder why she was on so many UK shows, as I thought she just wasn't funny (nothing at all to do with her disability). But she's freakin' hilarious! And yes, Jack simply can't maintain his grumpy old man persona in her presence.
And you can tell that that was actually intentional based on the way the kitchen fortune cookie was worded Edit: I think you could argue that still that isn't one of the five you obeyed
this episode was definitely one of the most chaotic out of the series which is saying something, Alex was truly devious this week and I'm pretty sure Jack is close to losing his mind lol
The fact that I found this show while I was in Germany, and have watched it through deployments, and now in South Korea, thank you so much for keeping this channel alive.
@@JacktheRah 100% Alex was being kind saying there were only three "real" lies and Greg was being kind not doubling the penalty. I'm glad about it, I'd rather everyone be happy than the rules be followed so strictly.
Emma's "and you would know" with the innocence of him in general, possessing that knowledge, and his outfit supporting that claim, only for her a half second later to realize she inadvertenly insulted his age.... lolllll. Love her!
Rosie is hilarious and seeing her make Jack Dee turn tomato red with laughter is fantastic. This is also one of the best prize tasks I can think of across all series.
I am pleasantly surprised by how well Jack played that uke and how well his song went. I always think of him a dry comedian and that was very nice and well done. I loved it
What have we learned today? We've learned that human beings have a Zoom function known as legs. We've learned that Emma Sidi is dry and bloody proud of it. And we've learned that comedy is a cruel, cruel industry where you should never meet your heroes - they'll only lie to you and ruin all the faith you put in them at your own peril. We've also learned that this dramatic episode's dramatic winner, is EMMAAAAAAAAAA SIDIIIIIIIIII! See you next time on Halloween, goodnight! (Lucky Numbers: 22, 15, 20, 5, 11, & 8)
What I’ve learned is that fortune cookies are supposed to be dipped in Chinese vinegar, 20 minutes is Napoleon approximate attention span, and the Titanic sank because they couldn’t pull the right rope for a bell to warn of an iceberg and instead pulled ice immediately.
When this season started, I thought Zaltzman, who I admit I had never heard of, was going to play the "only sane man" role, like Dara O Briain in his series. Clearly, I couldn't have been more wrong.
@@andrew66862 Although they did skip from episode 200-something to 4000 when they relaunched! LOL I've listened to the Bugle since it started in 2007, and it still makes me laugh a lot. The first few years with Andy and John Oliver were quite amazing: pun runs to torture John Oliver, the fuckeulogy of Bin Laden, the royal wedding of Will and Kate,... There are a lot of classics. But since Andy relaunched with loads of cohosts; it is also very good. I think Alice Fraser and Nish Kumar are the best cohosts with Andy these days.
Among other things, I love how the contestants in Series 18 are having fun bantering back and forth with one another and with Greg and Alex. And all of them enjoy one another. Loving this series.
It was up to Rosie to establish a Yes or No system, which she didn't seem to, so she shouldn't blame Jack for trying to find some way of communicating. And Alex was no help at all 😂
The stupid thing is that a yes no system was established by smiles and frowns but which is which is unclear so he was lying the whole time, she just assumed the opposite intent.
i had seen her in a few other things before this, and wasnt really a fan. but this series she's really shining and growing on me. calling alex a dickhead after he task was peak comedy
Maybe it's because I really did fly from the USA to London to take part in the Taskmaster Experience, and Patatas was in the general/open area. I particularly enjoyed seeing the "artwork" and Patatas.
@@human_collector0 If that's how Patatas identifies, more power to them. All I know is what the video says, and I trust that the TM folks have confimed the preference. But "them" is the best choice when you don't know.
"He doesn't know what velvet is? Look at him, he's Andy Zaltzman, he knows what it is!" Imagine having a persona so powerful that people can immediately see through your lies.
The starting banter and 'what have we learned' sections are recorded for every studio session. In the edit the decision is made whether these are sacrificed to have more time for the tasks and studio conversations. Editing often is a game of juggling with seconds of material to fit into the alloted time, and we see only a fraction of what was recorded - the funniest fraction, as decided by the director and editing team.
@@ArthurVeugelersSame with the funny story at the end of the newscast (to pull a reference from ep. 5)… The only reason they put it in is so they have something inconsequential they can drop if the rest of the show goes long.
Dear Taskmaster team, The last part of the video is missing closed captions. Is that something you can fix? Thank you for your efforts from the hard-of-hearing community!
From what we saw, different from other secret tasks where it was "if someone accuses you of having a secret task you don't get the points" this one before entering the room they could have said to their teammates, "oh by the way I have this task where I am only gonna lie"
I think this episode was a bit disappointing to be honest. The sadist nature of some tasks can be funny, but the bell and fortune cookie ones kind of lacked any punchline.
@@dionysusnu3881The fortune cookie one veers into being mean to me as there soesnt seem to be a reasonable way to avoid it. Yhe bell one was great with the entire setup being a giant red herring. It just missed having someone realize it immediately.
@@Throckmorton.Scribblemongerlet it go or stop watching, man. You can't be all over the comments trashing one contestant. It's giving unhealthy obsession.
Guessing the box task is such a perfect representation of Emma. She figured out the ruse so quickly, and then decided to guess everything specifically instead of using some basic 20 questions deductive interrogation. Oh, Emma. I love you and am exasperated by you equally.
Emma's detective costume make so many moments better. Her picking a vantage point (zooming out) was really funny and the zaltzman-velvet line was hilarious
Can an admin update the order of the full series playlist for this series? It’s ordered incorrectly (should be 1 at the top then ascending). That will make it much easier to binge the series. Thank you!
Where the f has Emma been all my life. Extremely fun to look at and love her humor. Love how this show lets us get to know entertainment personalities that we would never have run across otherwise (from here in the US at least). I've found so many great series, panel shows and movies just by deep diving into people from Taskmaster.
"Don't look up." Well I would have gotten a ladder and climbed up so I could be eye level or above whatever the ropes are attached to. While getting the ladder I would have kept an eye out for a bell to ring. Then I probably would have thought about the doorbell while I was wandering. I can only hope I would have done all this within the ten minutes. I haven't seen how the contestants did the task, so I don't even know if I'm on the right track yet. EDIT: Glad that my eventual thought of the doorbell was right and that my initial thought of "get higher to fake looking up" was shared by Emma.
Really great episode. The comebacks and insults were top notch and that aspect of taskmaster is what makes it so funny to me. Probably why I love season 7 so much. I also immediately thought with the fortune cookie task that I would open and read all of them first then decide which I want to do and in what order- I was sure some would be worse than others and some would take more time. Very rarely do I come up with a good strategy right away. I lived vicariously through Andy's 'no I don't' being praised. Probably the highlight of my day. With better execution he could have beaten Emma's time easily.
