This may be your best video yet. LOVE the breakdown scenario and the easy walk through. I feel like I should just go buy $25 I-bond now just for the hell of it.
After watching this on 10/27 I attempted multiple times to create a Treasury Direct account, but the site kept on crashing. I think a lot of people were trying to get in at the 9.62%. I never was able successfully to create an account by 10/28. Now the date is past, I had no issue creating a Treasury Direct account. While the rate is lower, I still think I'm going to transition some of my emergency money into I bonds as the bank savings account is paying half of what the treasury is. Besides, in six months if inflation continues, it could get adjusted upwards. Thanks for the video.
Sorry to hear you were having issues with the site... The site kept crashing for me too. From what I read, they had a record number of people buying I Bonds that week trying to get in before the rate expired. In my opinion, it's still wise to transition emergency funds into I Bonds so they aren't devalued by inflation over time.
Good Afternoon. Just seeing this; great INTEL. So, it has been ten months... thoughts on the I Bonds / EE Bonds? Also, thoughts on "BILLS" Short, Medium and Long Term
Question; I bought my first ibonds back in Oct. 2022. I just checked on them and the balance hasn't moved from the initial purchase amount. Why am I not seeing progress six months later?
I purchased them the same time you did. Click on the “Current Holdings” tab in your treasury direct account. All the way at the bottom you should see the current value. This value will reflect the 3-month penalty until you hit the 5 year mark. Let me know if this helped!
Yotta bondage, I like it. 👀👀👀 I have another video that goes into I-bonds a bit more in depth. I wanted this video to be a broad overview of I-bonds, but primarily to show people how to actually buy them.
But I love that it was all in one. I subscribed at the end as a result. I got here byway of a basic Google search on the subject.. Honestly, if I would've had to piece together an entire complete thought on the subject, I would've just bounced off at the end to find the next step, and likely ended up on someone else's page without subscribing. By the end of this video, I not only got the full info I needed to get on with my day, but got a true sense of his content style. Because let's face it, no matter how solid the info, if the delivery is a grating experience, we're not subscribing. So in short, came for the info but invested in the messenger. That's all :)
